Cozy house, close to shopping

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy 2 bed, 2 bath cottage. It was the perfect size for us, plus the gas fireplace kept it warm and comfortable. We were lucky enough to get snow on Christmas Eve, and my three grandchildren had a good sized yard for a snowball fight and built a snow man with a neighborhood boy. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook Christmas Dinner which we enjoyed with my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren (who live nearby). The rental owners put up and decorated a Christmas tree for us, so it really felt like the holidays. I want to thank them and add that they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! This property is within walking distance of a major grocery store and several fast food restaurants. Also it was very clean and well stocked with towels and linens. The laundry room was large and well lit with very nice, clean washer and dryer. A couple of drawbacks: we didn't have garage access and the driveway was very dark. The porch steps were icy due to freezing and the snow, and were hard to see as the porch light was behind us. The owners might consider a motion activated light near the driveway. The Master bathroom is very small and was colder then the rest of the house, as was the Master Bedroom (leaving the doors open helped). The rest of the house was warm, including the 2nd bedroom. We piled more blankets on the bed and were cozy in spite of the temperature.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your visit to Puyallup. Our home has a new furnace, but it is located at the opposite end of the house from the master bedroom, which might explain the cooler temperature. Of course, we were also experiencing unusual weather, which was colder than normal. The small master bath was added for the convenience of those in that bedroom, and we had to work with the available space. I have been at that house many times at night and did not notice the darkness. I am wondering (and I will check this out) if the street light was out. The garage will not accommodate a car unless it is really small (and you'd probably have to climb out the sunroof). Previous owner took space for the laundry room's creation and also added steps into the garage that intrude out into the space. Fear of multiple damaged cars (and our potential liability) caused us to use it for storage and keep it locked. Our niece lived in this house for several years but she didn't own a car. I know it is an inconvenience not to have a garage but we see no way to change this. However, I am glad you had snow for Christmas and enjoyed the ambiance of the fireplace.

Fantastic property close to the fairgrounds.

We have stayed here several years now and every year Toni has made additional improvements on the house. This year was a pleasant surprise of a wall mounted flat screen T.V. with full cable in the master bedroom! The kitchen always adequate was much improved with updated pots and pans and cookware, sharp knives, 12 cup coffee maker with plenty of filters, a crock pot, and electric griddle. Salt and Pepper and Sugar was appreciated! When we work at the fairgrounds we like to cook some of our meals so this is really important. There are lots of towels, extra blankets and pillows, and a beautiful washer and dryer if you need to do laundry. When I have had to call Toni she has been very easy to reach. I Will be back next year. Cheers!

This is our 3rd stay at this property. We have enjoyed every stay. They continue to make improvements that make the house even better. The recent addition of a pull down bed in the family room was a great thing. This house has always been ready for us when we needed it. This is way better than getting a hotel when visiting family in the area. Every time it has been clean and ready to go. We look forward to our next stay. Thank you.

Strong Exhaust fans in both bathrooms would be a major plus to the house

Owner's Response: I couldn't agree more. I am surprised the people we bought the house from didn't do that when they fixed up the bathrooms. It would have been at the top of my list.

Medicine Park, OK

Great for families/friends

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our needs. I give it 5 stars not because it is glamorous and romantic; rather it is very comfortable and functional. It is in an older neighborhood but the house itself is great and very convenient. We were in town for a wedding and we had 4 adults staying there. The master bedroom is spacious and has a very comfortable king bed. They had a queen blow-up bed set up in the living room, tucked next to the fireplace in a corner and not in the way of the very comfortable living room furniture. It was nice to have a full kitchen, and we utilized the ironing board & iron. There is even a very nice washer and drier in a separate laundry room. Probably the best thing that we liked about it though was that they asked only that we take the trash out to the bins in the front, put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and make sure the door was locked on your way out. With other VRBO houses you have to remove the sheets, etc. It was nice just to lock up and go. I recommend this to anyone who needs a family place.
