About The Owner

The owner, Robert, is a retired educator who divides his time between Asheville and his native Florida. He is a graduate of Auburn University with an MBA degree.

Robert loves and participates in as many of Asheville's wonderful dance and music events as he possibly can.

A descendant of early Asheville settlers, Robert feels he is getting back to his roots by living in Asheville.

The Owner purchased this house in 2013

Why The Owner chose Asheville

This property is in the perfect location to conveniently get to all that Asheville has to offer. I can easily walk to the things I enjoy and/or need. I drive very little these days.

What makes this house unique

Low traffic dead end street with nearby vacant lot make this an especially good area for walking pets.

Not a River Arts Cottage - solidly in West Asheville

  • 3 of 5

The house was very clean and functional. Agree with other reviewers on general comments. Not knowing the Asheville area well, I was expecting to have a River Arts District experience, but clearly did not. Please change your description, as it's misleading.

If you just need a place to crash while you attend events, go places and experience all the fun of Haywood St, it's perfect. If you want to have a quiet place to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather of Asheville while getting to know an area of town, keep looking. There were two basic metal chairs on the front porch that felt like you're sitting on a stage for all the neighbors to view. Nothing in back yard but a gravel driveway and trash cans.

The bed was very uncomfortable. I had to sleep in the middle so that I wouldn't wake up sore. If you bring your electronics and need hi speed wifi, expect a problem. I was constantly resetting the modem and restarting my iPad and Computer. Granted, part of my time here was spent working, so I needed strong wifi.

Functional and clean? Definitely. Comfortable and inviting? Not for me.

Great location, great value

  • 4 of 5

Really enjoyed the stay in Asheville. Location was ideal for our plan: ride mountain bikes, eat great food, sample local brews. Strategy was drive to riding areas each morning, but leave the car and walk to dinner and drinks. The house was within walking distance to some great restaurants and pubs on Heywood Street. The property was as-described by owner and in other reviews: a small, one-bedroom bungalow, nicely remodeled, quiet location, and well-equipped. Great having a washer/dryer after a day on mtb trails. Easy drive to downtown Asheville. Might be a little tight for 4 people, but for two it was perfect. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Comfy Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Very clean in the interior. Perfect location. Such an easy place to get to/from downtown and Biltmore. Bathroom shower was wonderful. Fit in quite nicely with the laid back atmosphere of Asheville in general. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting. We will be back!

Great little house

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay in Asheville. Terrific little house with everything we needed. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the exterior needs some attention, perhaps just a good cleaning.

Cozy and Convenient Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Very convenient location, friendly neighbors and just enough space to be cozy and comfy. The bed is so comfortable, you feel like your sleeping on a cloud. Plenty of towels, good water pressure and clean. Very happy to find a place that doesn't charge you extra to bring your furry family members along. Loved having so many windows and our cats did too! Internet was fast and reliable. Highly recommend!

Long Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here over christmas weekend. Great location to walk to bars & numerous cafes. Also within driving distance to rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking & all that Asheville has to offer. Has everything you need in the kitchen. Dogs were able to stay. Only recommendation would be to have a few board games on hand for rest days / wet days - or bring your own.
