My mother was born and raised on Oahu and I have lived here since 1988. I have always loved Waimanalo and think it has one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
Eesha purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Eesha chose Waimanalo Beach
We love the location so close to a great beach. It is a clean uncrowded beach with stunning azure waves that are fun for the kids. Grandma appreciates the afternoon shade of the ironwood trees. We come on weekends and share it with visiting family and friends. The views of the Ko'olaus are breathtaking.
What makes this Cottage unique
Stand alone cottage, private, close walk to beach. Wifi but no TV.

Beautiful all around - including residents
Comfortable, living experience, perfect for what it was booked for.
Great location close to the beach. Perfect home base for exploring the island.
Cozy cottage that was well equipped including beach chairs, plenty of towels, etc etc. we did not want for anything during our stay. Our host checked in via email a couple of times during our stay to make sure everything was okay. I would definitely stay again!!
relaxation in waimanalo
cozy converted garage with bathroom, kitchen, and washer/dryer, and fenced backyard with grill and seating areas for relaxing and enjoying the outdoor surroundings. can’t beat the location- it’s a short five minute walk to the beach at the end of the block. totally different from the touristy areas like waikiki- here you get a real taste of what island life is like. the kailua target is about a 15 min drive away, so it’s not far to pick up food/supplies you might need for the week. also, for those concerned about safety, the front door is a punch-key pad, so you don’t have to worry about duplicate keys circulating around. would definitely want to stay here again.
My family and I stay 1 week and didn't want to leave. The location is great about a block to beach very easy to get back and forth. The best part about it all is the kids realy enjoyed all the little extras that would easily have cost more $$. The kayaks, biggie boards, snorkeling kits, and chairs made it easy and fun. It's also only a 15 minute to Lanaki beach and Kailua.
Everything you need
We stayed 6 nights and we really loved the area. Waimanalo is a great place to visit and is very convenient for getting to any place in Oahu. The local restaurants are really great too (especially Serg's).
The property is very simple but has everything you would need including comfortable beds, closet/drawers, full bathroom, well stocked kitchen (no oven, no dishwasher), free washer/dryer, beach equipment, etc. There were fruit and snacks to welcome us and the fridge already has some staples in there. No TV but we were not in Hawaii to be watching TV!
The kids loved roaming in the backyard looking for lizards. Quick walk to the beach or you could drive to any number of beaches close by. And restaurants are walking distance.
We did see some evidence of mice so we washed everything before we used it and didn't leave any food out (good practice anyway). It didn't create a problem for us but some people may take issue with that.
Would recommend this place to those looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay away from the busy-ness of Waikiki but not remote.
Easy Place to Stay
This is my second time at the property and I really like it. It is clean, spacious and everything that I need is there. It is a short walk to the beach and quiet. I'm planning on coming back this summer.
Sea Life Park is close by, as well as Makapu'u Lighthouse, Sandy Beach, and Blowhole. It is a very scenic dive to Hanauma Bay (16 min) and a shopping center in Hawaii Kai (18 min) with Costco, Safeway, Ross, etc. If you head in other direction, you are 14 minutes from Kailua with Whole Foods, Kalapawai Market, Buzz's Steakhouse, plenty of restaurants and nice beaches.
