The house has lots of period details, including a screened-in back porch, hardwood floors, custom moldings, and divided lite doors. It is furnished with quality modern and antique furnishings, original art, luxury linens, and enjoys cable television and super strong wifi.

About Ann Giles

We are a husband and wife team that loves old houses. Ann had purchased and was renovating this house with her father when she met Scott, who was just starting a renovation of his own historic home. So after the dust had settled on both houses, we had four children and in the process had to move to a larger space. We have lovingly maintained this house as a rental for several years, but are excited to furnish it and give it the extra attention it deserves as a short-term rental. Ann is a native Austinite and Scott has been here for almost 20 years, so feel free to ask us anything about Austin, and we will try our best to help!

Ann Giles purchased this house in 1995

Why Ann Giles chose Austin

This property is conveniently located near the University of Texas, yet it is not heavily populated by undergraduate students. Instead the area is home to graduate students, young professionals, families, and senior citizens. The area has a wonderful historic feel with all the mature trees and World War II era houses, most of which have been restored and are prized by their owners. The area is very close to downtown and to so many other things.

What makes this house unique

You can rent this home alone for 2-4 people, or can combine it with one or both of the studios to offer private quarters to 2 or 4 additional guests if you have a larger party.

Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was a perfect pick for a four day weekend. We will most definitely rent it again! The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect as well. The neighborhood was charming and great for biking or running. Also, having restaurants, a grocery store and coffee shop close by was heaven! The beds were comfortable, the linens of good quality, and the entire house was very clean. The screened in porch for morning coffee or relaxing in the evening was also an added bonus. We give it a total thumbs up!!

Great location, cozy house

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house for our girls trip to Austin. $12 "Fare" ride downtown and close to the campus. We loved having the bikes to use.

Austin in a quiet neighbourhood..

  • 5 of 5

This home in a lovely area of Austin was as described. Clean and well prepared for us.Thank you.

Plenty of room for three. We really appreciated the airconditioning as our stay was at the height of summer.

We found that we needed a car having stayed for 12 days. This made it easier to visit surrounding areas and getting out at night to enjoy all the music. We were able to search out the best coffee. Our favourite by far was Cuvee (East side) with breakfast tacos, at Veracruz, close to them.

Central Market was best for food to prepare at home. Selection of all food and wine extensive. Close for a music fix.

We would definitely stay again.

Comfortable, great location

  • 5 of 5

Ann's cottage was comfortable and a great location for us during our stay in Austin. It is convenient for UT campus, but also to Seminary of the Southwest where we were attending a wedding. We especially loved the kitchen and porch for coffee and breakfast. The bikes being available is a great feature of this rental -- we used them a good bit during our stay. There was plenty of space for the three of us in the house to both hang out and have privacy.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Spent 3 great days in this cottage in a lovely part of Austin. The house itself had history and character and was cozy, safe and very comfortable. Ann was also an excellent communicator and was always on hand if required but we didn't as everything was perfect. Wonderful grocery store next door and the book in the house tells you everything you need to know and more!!!We would definitely stay again if in the area. Jan & Tina Beugel

Great Austin Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This quiet little retreat was a pleasant place to stay and use as a launch pad to explore Austin. We loved the location being close to the stadium for game day but peaceful enough to relax and enjoy the covered porch for coffee and bluebell. The property was very clean and provided all the amenities that we needed. This will be our go to place for future weekends in Austin. Ann was very helpful when we checked in, we were having some issues accessing email on smart phones and she answered our call immediately. Thanks for sharing your home with us and we look forward to staying again.
