About Ann Giles
We are a husband and wife team that loves old houses. Ann had purchased and was renovating this house with her father when she met Scott, who was just starting a renovation of his own historic home. So after the dust had settled on both houses, we had four children and in the process had to move to a larger space. We have lovingly maintained this house as a rental for several years, but are excited to furnish it and give it the extra attention it deserves as a short-term rental. Ann is a native Austinite and Scott has been here for almost 20 years, so feel free to ask us anything about Austin, and we will try our best to help!
Ann Giles purchased this House in 1995
Why Ann Giles chose Hancock
This property is conveniently located near the University of Texas, yet it is not heavily populated by undergraduate students. Instead the area is home to graduate students, young professionals, families, and senior citizens. The area has a wonderful historic feel with all the mature trees and World War II era houses, most of which have been restored and are prized by their owners. The area is very close to downtown and to so many other things.
What makes this House unique
You can rent this home alone for 2-4 people, or can combine it with one or both of the studios to offer private quarters to 2 or 4 additional guests if you have a larger party.

Lovely house in a cute neighborhood...
We loved our stay because of the neatly kept house with lots of character (loved the back, screened in porch), the amenities, and the location. Our Austin stay was perfect, and we would definitely choose this house to stay again! Ann was very responsive to our needs and answered questions we had quickly!
We stayed one night in this lovely house while we were visiting a UT student. It is a great location for the campus. We were comfortable and happy, especially when the live middle eastern music stopped at 10pm. I’m not sure how often this happens but somewhere behind the house, there was a group of musicians playing middle eastern music. We couldn’t determine the source but with our very tired 5 yr old, we were relieved when they stopped.
Relaxing enjoyable weekend
Loved the location and the house was in a wonderful location. We usually try and stay in that area and walk to many of our favorite restaurants. If we wanted to go down town and eat it’s a 5 dollar Uber ride. Owner was extremely early to work with and the house was in great condition. We had everything we needed
Adorable and cozy cottage!
My mom and infant son accompanied me to a work conference and I chose this property because of its great location and baby accommodations (there’s both a pack n’ play and a booster seat!) There were a few little hiccups (booster seat strap broken, no detergent, etc.), but the owners responded so quickly and addressed all of our needs. The cottage was just adorable with so much character and charm. Will stay again if the chance ever arises! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Very comfortable and well located cottage
We stayed one week and really enjoyed this cozy cottage. It is exactly as shown and described in the pictures. It was quiet, clean. warm, and centrally located. Ann and Scott were very helpful and quick to respond to questions. We’ll definitely come back.
Great place and a great location. It's nice having the extra studio apartment in the back for extra family members.
