Overview

About the property

Two Bed Two Bath With Mountain Views

This brand new log cabin sits along a beautiful ridgeline overlooking a small valley along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Designed with comfort in mind guests will enjoy all the amenities of home. Granite countertops, ceramic tile bathrooms, new appliances, hardwood floors, HDTV with Showtime, HBO, Starz and Encore, leather sofa and recliner, BluRay player, stone gas fireplace, Tru Infared gas grill and a nice deck sitting in the tree tops all combine to help make this property a unique experience.

The quality of the home isn't the only reason to plan your vacation here. Just as important is the setting and the location. Blasted into the rock off of the main road and below the ridgeline creates the privacy and serenity many folks are yearning for. With no highway noise you will find it so quiet that you can hear the wings of the birds as they cruise by and with no man made light nearby you will be amazed at the stars at night.

In addition to all of this the location of the property is absolutely outstanding. Only a few miles from town on a well maintained gravel road we offer a true mountain experience without sacrificing convenience. You are only one mile from the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway which is only 15 miles from the Smokey Mountain National Park. You will look up at Water Rock Knob, the highest point around with views of Tennessee and the surrounding mountain peaks, just four miles up the Parkway. You are only about 12 miles from Cherokee and the famous Harrah's Casino, Santa Land, Gem mines and more. You are situated to drive to Bryson City and the Great Smokey Mountain Railway, all of the nearby waterfalls and trails and you can still drive to Asheville and the Biltmore House in about 40 minutes.

Just so guests are well informed we have included several photo's of the driveway and carport area. When building on a ridge to achieve these great views like we have it is always difficult to carve out flat areas for parking. As you can tell we have achieved an area large enough for a mid sized SUV to come down the drive, park in the carport, turn around and drive back out. If you are driving a pickup truck or a larger sedan you will still be able to park in the carport but you would need to back up the drive (as I do at home). If you bring two vehicles there is extra parking up on the road for the second one. All in all most people will work things out depending on whether they have 4WD, AWD, FWD or 2WD.

You will be glad you choose The Bear's Den for your next vacation.

Bears Den Maggie Valley

  • 4 of 5

First off "Maggie Valley" is a beautiful town with breathtaking views of the mountains all around! The bears den cabin was immaculate, new clean and very well decorated. Everything was in working order, with a very comfortable bed. The only down side was to many trees obstructing the view and lots of bats out at night! We took some long walks and enjoyed the mountains and nature. I would recommend this place!!!!

Owner's Response: I've had so many folks tell me how great the view is here that I was surprised these guests didn't like it. True it does close up some in the summer but you still have great views. Then again every year Mother Nature does continue to encroach so I'll take another look at it. With the leaves off in the Spring the view doesn't get any better than here. First time I've heard anyone mention bats.

Amazing cabin with a beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

The Bear's Den has become our favorite vacation destination. We have stayed at this property twice and we plan to return. The cabin allows you to get away from it all and spend time in the mountains without sacrificing modern amenities. The beautiful decor makes it a special place to spend time and relax. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to make wonderful meals. We also enjoyed cooking on the grill and eating on the deck while listening to the birds.

Jim and Lou have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. We highly recommend a visit to this cabin! Enjoy!

Great cabin!

My wife and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary here and couldn't have asked for a more perfect mountain getaway. We loved the fireplace, the large deck and the cabin furniture. Will definitely be back!

Get away from it all in this modern, spacious, and tastefully decorated cabin home!

  • 5 of 5

Bear Den cabin is perfect if you're looking for a quiet location to get away from it all but want to be close to Blue Ridge Parkway, Smokey Mountain National Park & Asheville. The home is located about 1 1/2 miles down a winding, gravel road, literally built into the side of a mountain. As pictured on the website, navigating the driveway is a "bear" but once there, you're rewarded with a modern, spacious, tastefully decorated cabin. It 's at tree-top level with beautiful mountain views and breezes from the full length deck and the large windows in the great room. I liked that there was a gas fireplace for the cool, rainy days and evenings.

I also liked the good-sized, well-equipped kitchen and bedrooms with comfortable beds and room-darkening drapes. A much-appreciated bonus was the extensive CD collection & stereo -- it's unusual to find a good stereo system and music in vacation homes so I thoroughly enjoyed it! Jim quickly responded to inquires and checked on things once I arrived. Overall, I really enjoyed Bear Den and felt it was a good value for all it had to offer.

Fabulous Get-Away Cabin Nestled in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

Couldn't have asked for a more serene peaceful place to unwind and relax. The Bear's Den was perfect for our Smoky Mountain visit. Waking up to the incredible mountain view with a cup of coffee was the perfect setting to get our mornings started on the right foot. The cabin's location was perfect to explore great hiking trails on the North Carolina side of the Smokies. The cabin itself was spotless, with all the essentials to make you feel at home. The decor was lovely and was well stocked with useful essentials. We stopped at a grocery store before coming to the cabin and we were able to use the lovely kitchen for most our meals. We can only imagine what the Autumn view is like. We are already talking about the possibility of returning to see the leaves change! Our only regret is not being able to stay longer. We would not hesitate to recommend this top-notch cabin to anyone interested in getting away!
