About Debra Cramer Anderson
My Mom, Martha Cramer, who is co-owner of the property, was born and raised in Transylvania County; but raised my sister and me in Fort Pierce, Florida. I lived there for 28 years, but loved coming to the mountains every summer to visit family and friends. Finally, in May of 1984, I moved here permanently, where I met my wonderful husband, Bill. I can't imagine living anywhere else ever again and love it here.
Debra Cramer Anderson purchased this House in 2006
Why Debra Cramer Anderson chose Rosman
I knew the family that lived here before, and always waved to them on their front porch as I went by. The home we live in is up on a mountain at the dead end where we don't see any people -- just wildlife. So, I always thought it would be nice to live in Rosman, where I would know everyone.
What makes this House unique
I love the front porch and the back yard. It is wonderful to sit outside and listen to the birds. Then, in the evenings, it is mesmerizing to watch the flames dance in the fire pit and listen to the waterfall feature. I like that it is just 'a stone's throw' from the IGA store, the post office and Champion Park where everyone puts their kayaks, canoes and tubes in the French Broad River to spend a couple of hours or a day floating on the river. We are only 8 miles southwest of Brevard, and can be there in less than 15 minutes and be in the 'big city' of Asheville, NC in about 40 minutes.
Pool / Spa
Comfortable place. Mostly quiet except for a few big trucks driving past the house but not in the evening!
Thank you for the review and for the kind words you left in the home's guest book. So sorry about the big trucks going by.......maybe there was a construction job close by. It usually is pretty quiet there. When school starts, the kids play in the field across the street for an hour or so and the band will practice sometimes. Most guests enjoy sitting on the porch watching them! Hopefully, you will come back for your next few days away!
Cute and claen
Great place and the owner was very helpful. Will definitely be back
Quiet, friendly town close to many activities.
We truly enjoyed staying at A Stone's Throw again this summer. The house has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Our beagle loves the huge yard to run around in and it is a quiet place to sit and enjoy the mountains. The people around are welcoming with a smile and a wave. The front porch has a couple rocking chairs and a swing to relax in on the cool evenings. You are close enough to Brevard, Hendersonville and Asheville to go site seeing, hiking, biking and shopping. There is a quaint restaurant just around the corner to enjoy a nice meal with the locals. The owner, Debbie, is just a phone call away and is very helpful. We will definitely stay here again when visiting the mountains.
Wonderful big yard for the dogs
our short visit was great, it was comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. We toasted marshmallow's and played games at night. Our dogs loved the big yard!
So glad you all had a good time! Our dogs love the yard, too, whenever I bring them over to A Stone's Throw. They can run and play, and I don't have to worry about them. Hope we see you again, and thanks for the review!
Very clean and comfortable!
We enjoyed our relaxing stay and the dogs loved the backyard! Debbie was the most hospitable host and through the extreme cold and icy conditions, ensured we were safe upon departing. 'A Stone's Throw' was the perfect, clean, and quaint getaway to bring in the New Year! A must return destination and a definite recommendation to all. If you are looking for a simple, cozy and relaxing getaway, 'A Stone's Throw' is the place for you.
Perfect location for waterfalls
Spent a great weekend here enjoying everything the area has to offer. Great waterfalls very close to the house. Best breakfast diner EVER just a mile away. Close to Hendersonville/Brevard shopping. Really just a best of both worlds place. We have a 2 year old and a dog so the fenced in back yard just put it over the top for us.
So glad you had a good getaway! Hope you found the waterfalls up by Balsam Grove. They are really pretty ones and close to the road. I think the diner you are referring to is Country Skillet. They do put on a really good breakfast!! We enjoy eating there occasionally. Merry Christmas to you and your family, and hope you consider staying with us again!
Escape to A Stone’s Throw, the peaceful and comfortable home you can use as your base of operations while you experience all that Transylvania County, NC has to offer. Located midway between Brevard and Lake Toxaway, you are almost in the center of the county. The vacation home is just “a stone’s throw” away from all the outdoor activities that are offered. Three bedrooms and one bath, this older home offers cleanliness and comfort and has just recently been updated.
Situated on almost an acre of fenced in yard, there is ample parking for your boat or RV, a couple of outbuildings and a carport to store your mountain bikes or kayaks. Your children or pet will enjoy being able to play in the huge fenced-in yard. Enjoy your morning coffee on the large front porch and wave to the friendly townspeople as they pass by. Sit in one of the rockers and just rest or take a break in the porch swing.
So far our guests tell us they love the ambience of the small town, the well-equipped kitchen, the wireless high speed internet, the 42” flat screen television with satellite, the cleanliness and coziness of the home. After a day of hiking, kayaking or looking at one of the county’s 250 waterfalls, you can relax with the well-stocked inventory of books to read, DVD and VCR movies, games and puzzles. A Stone’s Throw is a dream for those with pets and children.
A Stone’s Throw is handicap accessible with a ramp at the back of the home. The doors are 36” wide and there is a grab bar in the bathroom. The floors are all hardwood and the front porch is accessible from inside the home with a ramp.
The French Broad River is approximately 250’ from the front door of the house across the school’s practice field. The headwaters of the river are a mile upstream; but Champion Park in Rosman is where most people access the river with their kayaks, canoes and tubes. A Stone’s Throw is within walking distance of Champion Park, the grocery store, the post office, the town’s swimming pool and a few charming stores.
Experience your vacation in the small mountain town of Rosman, North Carolina, located 8 miles west of Brevard, the county seat. Rosman is half way between Lake Toxaway and Brevard.
