Bad Experience

  • 2 of 5

We rented this home for 6 weeks while we were shopping for home in Las Vegas. The night we arrived in June it was 92 degrees in the condo. The A/C was on fan only and it was around 115 out. I would have expected the owner to have it comfortable for our arrival since we were driving cross country to get there. The air struggled all night to get to 86 in the morning. Our only saving grace the whole time we stayed was the bedroom window unit. We contacted Ann who said she would get someone out to look at it. This took 4 or 5 days in the meantime we were melting in there. The tech came and said the unit was shot. After several more days of suffering I asked if the owner could get us a portable unit until the next week when the new A/C would be installed. She said she would try. I told her Lowe's had them in stock. Within a few hours they had it installed. It worked okay but struggled on extreme hot days. Finally the new unit arrived she ordered from Amazon. It turned out to be a wall unit like in hotels. The tech said it would barely cool the Living room and kitchen. They never got it installed because we were in and out house shopping.

Then the other really bad thing happened when we parked our brand new SUV in the assigned spot in the back and someone decided to key it. That was the last straw for us. After 3 weeks we checked out early to stay somewhere safer. The neighbors here are very shady to say the least. We didn't feel safe at all after our car was damaged.

Like others mentioned the shower head is extremely low even for someone 5' tall, beds are pretty comfortable, tub was converted to a walk in shower. Price was reasonable until it cost us $1200 to get our car fixed and we moved out after only half our lease was up. For future renters park on the street because the guy in the white truck uses the assigned space and gets mad if you park there.

Owner's Response: Due to extreme hot weather in Vegas averaging 110 F, this summer,, one AC unit could not keep atound the clock by guest demand , the 2nd unit in the bedroom Working fine, plus we have bought a standing unit at guest demand same afternoon. Since then , we have installed a new wall AC in the living room to the satisfaction of following guests 😀. I was unfortunately unaware of any report of parking problem in the rear building, but there's always possibility of parking in front of the unit on the street.. Ann

Super clean, super convenient, and exceptional value

This was a wonderful experience in this little

Vegas hideaway. The owner stayed in contact with us right up to arrival, keeping us aware of check-in procedures and info.

The facilities were perfect for our little honeymoon getaway. The place was very clean and homey. There is a sofa and love-seat in the living room with a large flat screen TV that the owner provides a streaming device for, as well as wifi. There is a standard dining table in this room also.

The kitchen was appointed with large fridge, microwave, toaster, tea pot, and coffee maker (you will need to bring or get coffee and sugar). There are dishes and cooking utensils sufficient for almost any meal you would like to cook. (We saved a LOT of money by cooking a couple of meals there...and a grocery store is RIGHT across the street).

The bedroom was spacious with relatively comfortable bed(s). There are 2 twins pushed together to make a king, so the "crack" in the middle was an obstacle (see honeymoon...lol). There is a luggage rack for ease of suitcase living along with ample closet space. Inside the closet there are some extra bed linens and 2 fans (a huge plus for us as we sleep with a fan every night).

The central A/C seemed to struggle to keep up a little bit during the middle of the day. We were rarely there during that time and where it lacked, the bedroom "window unit" A/C helped out as well as keeping the bedroom cool for sleeping. There is also an iron and iron board in the closet.

The bathroom was small but adequate. The water pressure is pretty ok, but for taller people, be prepared to bend over as the shower head is really low. DO NOT MOVE THE NO-SLIP TUB MAT! There seems to have been some type of refinishing of the tub and the mat will remove the finish (the owner warned us of this prior to arrival). There were plenty of towels and washcloths to last us far longer than we actually stayed.

Finally, there is a very nice, large patio beyond the sliding glass doors in the bedroom. We spent most of our time there as the weather was so nice. There is a table and a few chairs and outlets to charge phones. For smokers: you will need to take/get/make an ashtray...there is not one provided.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this little "home away from home". It was far enough away from busier touristy areas of Vegas...but close enough to keep travel to the strip economical (around $10 average).

Highly recommend and plan on staying here again.

Great value!

  • 4 of 5

This location worked perfectly for us during our week stay. The place was comfy and very homey. Freeway access was easy and convenient to get out and about the city. There were also lots of grocery and restaurant choices aside from across the street just a short drive away. Would stay here again. A couple of things for consideration.... if you plan on using the kitchen, you may want to take your own can opener. Lots of wine bottle openers were there, however. We thought the tub was a bit slippery, so we got a bathtub mat...VERY bad idea on our part. All told, that ended up being about a $160 bathmat as it peeled up the unknown-to-us refinished tub surface, and we were charged for its repair. Our advice would be take some sort of anti-slip footwear to use while showering. If you are hyper sensitive to street traffic noise, this may not be the place for you. The bedroom is really quieter than one would expect, however, and it wasn't an impossible situation for us even though our preference is usually for much quieter surroundings. Take slippers in winter as all-tile floor will be quite cold. Here's some news from our 19# dog. All the surrounding nearby landscaping is gravel just like that seen in the pictures. There is a tiny patch of bare dirt at the edge of the enclosed patio with a few cactus and a small yucca in it. If your canine friend is picky about such surfaces as poop places, well, they might have to reconsider. She hopes other dog owners will pick up their pooch's poop so the owner will be inclined to continue offering this property as a dog-friendly place. Speaking of the owner, she seemed willing to address some issues we brought up when we checked out, so if something needs attention to the place while you are there, don't hesitate to contact her. Some may view the neighborhood as a bit dodgy by it's appearance, but it's just a solid, everyday working class area, and we had absolutely no problems from fellow residents or anyone passing by.

Map

The Las Vegas Strip
Car: recommended

I have been pleasantly surprised since I moved to Las Vegas by the beauty and variety of its surroundings. There are not just arts and entertaining indoors but the choice of outdoors activities are breathtaking. My favorite visit at ten minutes drive from this location starts with Spring Preserve where Vegas came to life with the discovery of first water well, nowadays beautified with thousands of desert plants, the award winning 'Desert House 'project by UNLV team. Next, at 20 minutes drive is a half day hiking / horse riding at Red Rocks canyon or Spring Mountain ranch which also hosts open air theater in the summer. And for a day trip, at about 45 minutes from here, I would go to kayaking/boating on Colorado river or drive 2 hours to St George to see the fossils of the biggest dinosaur ever.... Sometimes, I take a week-end off and drive 3 hours to Zion Park in Utah or Grand Canyon. In my view, a trip to Vegas that includes indoors and outdoors activities would require more than a week-end to relax and see what it's all about :)
