Our Stay in Little Italy

  • 5 of 5

Warm, cozy, charmingly updated. This space is ideal for a couple or family of 3. We vacationed our butts off by day and came home to our darling home-away-from-home at night. Ideal location to sight see historic Boston. Efficient use of space provides ample room in closets. Furniture is functional and comfortable. Excellent coffee pot. Clean and, again, comfy.

In my opinion, better than the bland and boring of a hotel. For the duration of your stay, you are a guest in the oldest part of Boston. And 2 blocks from some killer cannoli (and the Old North Church). The Freedom Trail is RIGHT THERE! You're also within walking distance of multiple green parks, historic cemeteries, roughly 1 million eateries (fuzzy math), the New England Aquarium, trolley stops, coffee houses, and all manner of cultural awesomeness...seriously, open the windows at night and let the soul-warming scent of garlic bread waft through the space.

The renters are very thoughtful and generous. Knowing we were to arrive with our 3-year-old at 1AM, they prepared a twin size air mattress, inflated and made up with construction themed bedding. Additionally, they provided a complimentary copy of "Make Way for Ducklings" with a kind note for our child. (You're thinking, "Wow! That's so sweet!" ...I know, right?)

Neighbors in the building are quiet. You feel safe in the space, above the street and behind 2 locked doors. Due to the location, traffic is minimal and therefore we found it to be quiet enough for good rest. We are from a small town, so we were somewhat apprehensive about what to expect being so "in the city."

Things to consider:

-Bring toiletries with you like shampoo, soap, etc.

-Towels and washcloths provided

-Coffee was provided, but we did use our own.

-Tasty tap water, bring your refillable bottle.

-Full-size fridge for saving some cash

-Some plastic-ware is provided also for convenience

-Cable TV in common room and bedroom

-Location is close to Bova's Bakery...you'll go home with a pound or two extra of "happy living weight." (No worries, comes right off when you exit Little Italy and return to the real world.)

Excellent location & comfy bed!

  • 4 of 5

Literally 2 walking minutes from Hanover St! I am incredibly picky when it comes to beds & to my relief, the bed was very comfortable. The shower is pretty cool to with 3 different heads (one above, 2 that shoot straight out). We didn’t use the kitchen or sofa area much, but they seemed to have what was needed. We were pretty happy with our experience & would rent the space again!

Small but sufficient

  • 5 of 5

We had a pleasant stay. Everything we needed was there. The apartment is very small but we were there to enjoy Boston not hang out indoors so it was no problem. Lots of great restaurants in walking distance. Buy your t-shirts/souvenirs at the Dodd House Gift Shoppe on Salem Street - much cheaper than elsewhere in Boston.

just ok...

  • 2 of 5

The unit was pretty rundown, smelled like old, old wood. Bathroom very small.

Bedding was poor quality and super thin as it was 20 year old bedding. The towels were old as well and had light mildew smell. The unit didn't really have a clean feeling either.

Most likely won't stay there again..

But I enjoyed the area very much.

Great location, nice and comfortable!

  • 4 of 5

First, what this place is: a small one bedroom unit in an older building with fairly tight quarters in a great location that is perfect for a couple or could be a tight okay fit for a small family. That being said, it was perfect for what we wanted! There are very steep stairs leading to the door, but only about 6 of them. The doorway is narrow, and the bathroom is small, but the bedroom has plenty of storage and the bed is a comfy queen. The extra "living" room is perfectly sized for a futon couch with a TV. We didn't use the TV much, as we were exploring Boston most of the time, but it would be fine for catching up on the news or winding down with a movie. We didn't cook, but all the basics were there (pots and pans, utensils, etc.). The shower was just big enough to fit both of us in, though you had to do some maneuvering! The shower has body sprays and a nice shower head and lots of shelf space. The window AC unit kept the room as cold as we wanted--we actually had to turn it to low even when the temps outside were in the 80s because the high setting was freezing us out! It's located in a pretty quiet area, so there isn't much road noise at all. The park across the street backs up to the harbor, which I found almost as awesome as the Italian cafes around every corner! The owner was responsive, polite, and accommodating. I highly recommend this unit for a couple or small family looking to experience Boston in the heart of Little Italy!
