Newly renovated 3-room condo with lots of light and very efficient use of space. This unit boasts of a water view from its living room, a Mediterranean tile bath with a pedestal sink and tile floor, kitchen with cider-maple cabinets and stone counter tops This unit is within walking distance of the water, pool, tennis courts, and park. Bed is a bobapedic and it is a queen size, great for people with back issues. The livung room has a futon wich turns i to a sleeper if needed. It is on a quiet street near Old North Church and other historic sites.
Warm, cozy, charmingly updated. This space is ideal for a couple or family of 3. We vacationed our butts off by day and came home to our darling home-away-from-home at night. Ideal location to sight see historic Boston. Efficient use of space provides ample room in closets. Furniture is functional and comfortable. Excellent coffee pot. Clean and, again, comfy.
In my opinion, better than the bland and boring of a hotel. For the duration of your stay, you are a guest in the oldest part of Boston. And 2 blocks from some killer cannoli (and the Old North Church). The Freedom Trail is RIGHT THERE! You're also within walking distance of multiple green parks, historic cemeteries, roughly 1 million eateries (fuzzy math), the New England Aquarium, trolley stops, coffee houses, and all manner of cultural awesomeness...seriously, open the windows at night and let the soul-warming scent of garlic bread waft through the space.
The renters are very thoughtful and generous. Knowing we were to arrive with our 3-year-old at 1AM, they prepared a twin size air mattress, inflated and made up with construction themed bedding. Additionally, they provided a complimentary copy of "Make Way for Ducklings" with a kind note for our child. (You're thinking, "Wow! That's so sweet!" ...I know, right?)
Neighbors in the building are quiet. You feel safe in the space, above the street and behind 2 locked doors. Due to the location, traffic is minimal and therefore we found it to be quiet enough for good rest. We are from a small town, so we were somewhat apprehensive about what to expect being so "in the city."
Things to consider:
-Bring toiletries with you like shampoo, soap, etc.
-Towels and washcloths provided
-Coffee was provided, but we did use our own.
-Tasty tap water, bring your refillable bottle.
-Full-size fridge for saving some cash
-Some plastic-ware is provided also for convenience
-Cable TV in common room and bedroom
-Location is close to Bova's Bakery...you'll go home with a pound or two extra of "happy living weight." (No worries, comes right off when you exit Little Italy and return to the real world.)
Great location and we would rent it again. Adequate in all ways but bath is super small. Would not work for someone who is larger than average.
The location is the best part about this property. It is within walking distance to great restaurants, sights, and the Freedom Trail. The apartment itself is pretty shabby. The electric baseboard heat was non-functioning in the kitchen. The wall heaters in the bedroom and living room worked, but had quite an odor. The bedroom smells like smoke. Either a former smoker was there, or there is a smoker in the unit above. The only lights in the bedroom are from lamps, and they aren't extremely bright. The bathroom is tiny. There is no hook for towels, so after a shower or washing your face, there is nowhere to hang them. There are double doors to the bathroom, but there is barely enough space for your knees when you are using the toilet if they are closed. There is no ironing board, and the iron was a challenge to find. I had to use a towel on the kitchen counter to iron. Wi-Fi worked fine, as well as the TV. The owner responded promptly to questions, though when I requested to leave a packed suitcase in the unit until my late evening flight, he never responded. Luckily a nearby hotel gladly held it for me while I explored during the day. I would not recommend this particular unit to friends or family after staying there. The price was extremely expensive for the quality of the unit. There is no way more than 2 people could stay in this unit comfortably.
Everyone who said Massimo provides quick responses are accurate; he was very easy to work with and that is very much appreciated. The property is located on a narrow street that isn't one of the most decorated in the city but it is safe. There are a variety of parking lots/ramps in the area but parking can be hard to find. We ended up parking a distance away then moving our car closer to Foster Street after 5:00 p.m. The apartment is small but it is clean, the kitchen has been updated as has the bathroom shower. The kitchen has full size appliances. As another reviewer pointed out, the dishes are pretty but cannot be microwaved; more utile dishes would be helpful. There are measuring cups, spoons etc but no mixing bowls & more than one pan would be helpful. (I note this for Massimo's info, we didn't cook.) There are TV's in the living room and bedroom. Speak of the bedroom....the bed is flush against the wall so if there are 2 of you, one of you must access the bed from the foot of the bed rather than the side. The lighting in the bedroom is poor. We had no idea where to put trash; fortunately we left on a Friday which was trash day & apparently everyone just puts the bag(s) on the curb. The lack of toilet paper was mentioned in another review - there are 2 mirrors in the bathroom, the one over the sink is actually a cabinet and contains extra toilet paper. This could easily be an above average apartment if some painting were done along with rearrangement of the furniture - Massimo, I'll do this :) The apartment is on the North Side & we loved that; we were in Italy a few years ago and this area reminded us of the small towns we visited. It's also close to the Freedom Trail and an easy walk to downtown and Quincy Market. We recommend renting this property.
This apartment was a life saver after the property we had originally rented was cancelled a week before our trip. Massimo replied to our e-mails and texts promptly and his instructions were clear and concise. The apartment is clean and conveniently located in the heart of Little Italy - North End of Boston. It is walking distance to the Freedom Trail, Paul Revere Mall, Old North Church and Hanover Street where you can savor delicious Italian food and pastries. We were in Boston during the annual Feast of St. Anthony of Padua (August 26 - 28) during which the locals celebrate their patron saint with a procession, music, confetti, fireworks and of course all types of Italian food booths. This was our second time in Boston and we loved it as much as the first. Make sure to pick up some pastries at Bovas Bakery right down the street from the apartment and an Italian sub sandwich at the place next door to the bakery, pizza at Regina's is a must and lunch at Catch of the Day (the food is well worth the wait in line) and more pastries at Modern Bakery. Got back home with a few additional pounds but with no regrets of having missed out on anything during our trip!
Over all it was a good experience. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Only downfall was the bathroom/toilet. Basically you had to sit sideways to have enough room for your legs/knees if you wanted the door closed. This still was not a deal breaker. The owner was nice and helpful. The location was perfect.
