This lakefront chalet is located in Pocono Mt Lake Estates. The home is beautifully furnished and fully equipped for comfortable vacation living. Lake views from the kitchen, living room and loft. Secluded among maple, pine and birch trees. The chalet has three bedrooms; two downstairs with one bath downstairs and one upstairs in loft area with full bath upstairs. The upstaris bedroom has a queen size bed, TV and stereo. Downstairs both bedrooms have double beds. There is a large front deck overlooking Eagle Lake.

No Smoking. Pets are permitted. A non-refundable pet fee applies. Cleaning fee applies.

Just minutes from the chalet, Pocono Mt Lake Estates offer the following amenities: tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, restaurant, gym, snack bar, sandy beach with picnic facilities and children's play area. Use of these facilities requires a badge per person through the Pocono Mountain Lake Estates Community Association. A $100.00 ($75.00refundable) cash deposit is required by PMLE to obtain badges. Within minutes of horseback riding, 18 hole championship golf, white water rafting, paintball, snowmobile and ATV rentals, skiing, tubing and skating, etc.

Nearby are antique shops, flea markets, 'Crossings' Factory Outlet stores and excellent restaurants. New York City and Philadelphia are only two hours by car.

Very peaceful and cozy

My husband and I were looking for a quiet get-away for a few days and the chalet did not disappoint! Every day we were pleasantly surprised by several beautiful deer walking through the back yard. We enjoyed the fireplace every night. Our bedroom was warm and cozy and the living room with its view of the lake was delightful! The only thing I would change, and I already mentioned this to Patrick - the cookware and flatware need an update. I love to cook and what was available was a little "worn out". I didn't let that stop me, though! We also had delicious pizza from Cousin's, right down the road and they delivered right to our door.

All in all, a great experience!

Gorgeous house, gorgeous view

This beautiful house was the perfect get-away for us--quiet, homey, gorgeous view of the lake and changing fall leaves, fireplace in the living room. The house is well-maintained and the kitchen has what we needed to cook our meals at home. We would definitely rent this property again.

Inspect the mattresses and couches thoroughly! =(

I woke up on the last morning of our stay feeling very itchy. I saw several marks that resembled mosquito bites on my legs. The bites looked a bit like hives and were very itchy. The itchy sensations increased on the drive home. When I finally got home and undressed, I saw that my body was covered in bites from head to toe. These were clearly NOT mosquito bites. The bites showed up in strange lines and clusters. I texted Patrick and asked him if he had a history of bed bugs at the house. He replied with a simple, “Never”. I asked him to check the mattress and the couch. He said he would get an exterminator to the house on Monday, the very next day.

The next morning, I went to Urgent Care. The doctor said that the bites were consistent with the pattern seen in bed bug bites and that I should contact the owner immediately. I have bites on my face, ears, neck, chest, arms, wrists, hands, fingers, legs, ankles and feet. The bites are red, swollen and itchy, serving as a constant reminder that it is likely that I could have infested my own home. Photographs of the clusters of welts I have, could never really illustrate what it feels like to walk around like this. And forget about having a good night’s sleep! I keep waking up with the feeling that bugs are crawling on me. =( It’s been terrible. I tried calling Patrick after the doctor visit but he did not answer. I texted him the details from the doctor’s examination and asked him to please have the property checked thoroughly. He answered a few hours later saying that an exterminator was now coming on Wednesday. I told him that I was willing to take the day off to meet him at the house so that I could be there for the inspection. He did not respond. Three days later, I finally heard from him. His text simply stated that the exterminator said that there were no indications of bed bugs in the house.

I would HIGHLY recommend that you check ALL of the bedding in the house before bringing your luggage through the doors. Check the couches and throw pillows in the living room and the rugs as well. Check the roll away bed in the closet upstairs as well as the mattress of the couch bed. Although Patrick states that the house is clear of insect presence, I would not take the risk. The description of this rental states that it is equipped for “comfortable vacation living” but the stress that my husband and I have experienced since renting this home, has made the visit anything but “comfortable”.

Owner's Response: What may read as a legitimate review about my house, is really retaliation for not giving into this guest's extortion. What the guest failed to mention in her "review" is that the day she left the house, she texted me to say she was leaving, sent me a beautiful photo of the lake at sun rise and told me how much she and her guests enjoyed their stay. Less than 20 hours later, she reported that she was bitten by "bed bugs" and that in "...good faith, I ask that you refund the cost of my stay." No proof other than a photo of someone's arm with indistinguishable spots on it. She did not show her face in the photo and the photos appeared old and faded; not even close to recent photos. I requested a copy of the doctor's report indicating the bites were in fact from bed bugs. No report was ever produced. I asked for recent photos of the bites that included her face. No photos were produced. It was an obvious threat that if I did not refund her rent and fees, should would report that the house had bed bugs. I asked the guest if her other guests has signs of bite marks. She responded they did not; only she. I reminded her that she brought her own linens with her. I did not provide them for her. Also, that if bed bugs were present, all guests would have signs of bites. Mysteriously, it was just this guest. This is a five star rated, well maintained house. In my 17 year rental history with HomeAway, I have not had this kind of complaint, so of course, I took it seriously. I arranged for the earliest possible inspection I could arrange with Terminix. The inspector said flat out: "There were no indications of bed bugs at all." He believed the report to be completely false. I explained the findings to the guest. I offered a copy of the Terminix inspection to her and when she found out she was not receiving a refund, within hours she wrote this falsified review. I have truly enjoyed just about every guest that has stayed at my house, however, I do have to deal with people who try to work the system for a free weekend. It is unfortunate that such people are "out there." My home is perfectly safe and to prove it, I am writing this response from the beautiful loft bedroom overlooking the lake about to enjoy a sound night's sleep. I welcome all who want to enjoy all that the Poconos have to offer, but who also I understand it costs money to keep the house looking as good as it does. Patrick Vance

Great Weekend Retreat

Two of my girlfriends and I take a yearly Labor Day Weekend trip. We've used HomeAway each time and have yet to be disappointed. This Chalet was clean and comfortable and true to the pictures. We brought our own firewood and charcoal and made use of the fireplace and grill. We also used the canoe, which needs replacing as one of the seats is broken.

Previous reviewers have notated needed repairs and issues with critters in the walls. While we didn't hear anything in the walls we did notate the areas that needed some work. The owner Patrick advised of this in advance and followed up with notice that he was addressing them upon our departure. If you have Four Seasons taste with a Motel 6 budget, then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for calm surroundings with beautiful views then book away! My final note would be that some type of medium brightness dusk to dawn or motion sensor light could be used for the drive way. Coming down that steep hill at night is a bit precarious. Ultimately we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others seeking this type of experience.

Beautiful Place in need of maintenance and rodent control

This is a beautiful spot and a great house but the eaves are rotting and the squirrels have made them their home, the noise at night keeps vacationers awake. Having read about this in a previous review I had assumed the owner would haven taken care of the problem by now, at least stapled chicken wire over the holes but NO, nothing was done about it. The frame of the front door is rotting away, at this point anyone could kick it in. The two sliding glass doors to the deck have no screens, we found a bent one we could lean against one door. The deck railing would not pass inspection as little children could fall right off. Also, too bad that what looks to have been a nice floating dock has now been pulled onto the shore and serves as a deck instead, making it difficult not to tangle fishing line in the trees and to launch our kayak without getting into the water.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. It does seem like you enjoyed the house and the area. As I mentioned to you when you booked, the soffits were torn down by previous renters who enjoyed themselves a little too much. They have since been replaced. As I mentioned to the other reviewer and to you, the house does have squirrels around the property. In fact, it has an abundance of wildlife around it. Some guests think it adds to the charm of the visit, but I do apologize if the general wildlife in the area upset you or ruined your stay in any way. The front door, also damaged by my previous guests has been replaced and the new screens are currently on order. I do try to get damage left by previous guests fixed as quickly as I can, but the damage you experienced occurred only two weeks prior and instead of cancelling your stay, so I can get the work completed, an option I provided you, I thought the best option was to allow to continue with your trip and enjoy everything else the house has to offer as well as the Bushkill area. As for the dock, it is purposely set back so that guests who wish to bring their own boats can launch them without falling in the lake. Again, I apologize if that ruined your enjoyment of the dock or the lake. My many other guests seem to appreciate the consideration, especially when they have kayaks. There was of course the community dock, beach, playground, and picnic area just a three minute walk from the house. I hope you had the chance to take advantage of those great and convenient amenities. You were a wonderful guest and I hope you come back in the fall to see the spectacular sites the autumn season has to offer.
