As long as you stay outside, you'll continue to be impressed.

  • 2 of 5

Just don't go inside; The smell alone will knock you over & make you gag. No exaggerating & being as gentle as we can, even after 2 candles, 5 cans of air freshener & 'sucking it up' ... we were still pained. Not sure if the smell was attributed to the numerous large urine stains in the carpet (maybe a pet?!) or the fact that this property was definitely NOT cleaned before our arrival.

The positives: The OUTDOOR views & surroundings are BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!! The water is serene & enjoyable for all ages with decks & activities (swim, fish & boat).

Overall: If the nauseating smell & dirty home (lots of pet hair, dirty dust, toilets/sinks, alive & dead bugs everywhere & missing light bulbs) & downstairs toilet is VERY slow to flush even water ... can ever be remedied, it would be an incredible property with a polite owner & easy pre-check in process.

Owner's Response: To start with the house is not the Ritz Carlton and it is pet friendly ! If people don't like pets they should not rent pet friendly places ! It is a vintage lake house in the country and there are more spiders and bugs in the country as a rule ,outside mostly .The house was cleaned the day before the guest got there by Sara's on home adviser .She uses pictures to verify her work has been done . Both the husband and the wife sent in competing reservations for the house and both put down the wrong dates . The wife started and after a week of asking me to reduce the rent and waive the fees the husband took over with his own inquiry . This made things confusing to say the least . After agreeing to rent to the husband's VRBO inquiry the wife continued to email through VRBO on a different inquiry ..It seemed as if they didn't communicate with each other . I felt like they were tag teaming me . Here is a quote from the wife ," Wow, an additional $200+cleaning taxes and fees?!?! Is there no wiggle room or negotiation ? $350 for a 2B is killing me " .They kept saying VRBO never emailed them any info about the house which has never happened before .I felt like it was designed confusion and after the review I am sure of it !

Private and Peaceful Getaway

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here for the month of August and was nowhere ready to leave when it was over! Perfect for my dog, awesome location, plenty of space, owners easy to get ahold of. I would recommend a getaway to this location in a heartbeat.

Lake Retreat - But

  • 2 of 5

We enjoyed several days at this lake house relaxing with family and seeing old friends. As one of the few properties that could accommodate eight people comfortably there were plenty of beds and the place was large enough to find a quiet spot and not be on top of each other. Plenty of parking. Being right on the lake we were able to take full advantage of jumping off the dock into the refreshing Lake Lanier water. The only down side was that the place could use some TLC. It wasn't that clean, one of the upstairs bedrooms had dog fur all over the comforter and the room reeked of wet dog, the beds were old and uncomfortable, the dead cock roaches and myriad cobwebs and spiders were gross, dishes and utensils had to be washed before being used, the dock had nails sticking up and the ladder on the dock was very rusted, and the upstairs bathroom was so small that you had to lean to use the toilet. Additionally, there was dog excrement all over the yard area that led to the "beach" area that was so covered in muck I actually sunk to my knee while trying to launch the canoe - definitely not a place to let my toddler play and one of the reasons we rented this house over another. There were life vests, a canoe, a kayak, and some water toys but there was only one kayak paddle that was broken in two halves. I am sorry to say I really felt let down by the condition of the house. To his credit, the owner did not charge us a pet deposit fee, did send a cleaning lady to take away the dirty comforter, and was quick to respond when we reported water leaking from the upstairs through the kitchen light over the island. If it was more clean or well taken care it would have been a nice visit.

Owner's Response: This customer rented the property after the part owners stayed for their annual vacation for two weeks . There was only a two hour window to turn the house around .They do have dogs which would explain the buildup of dog poop in the yard and the smell and hair in their room .That being said they do have a valid point . I made a special trip up to the house to do an inspection and found the condition of the house to be similar to her description ,which is totally unacceptable . I spent a day and a half cleaning the house , the spider webs inside the house and the yard .The cleaning crew has been put on notice not to let this happen again . The owners did tell the crew they did not need to clean their room that it was already taken care of , so they didn't . That won't happen again . I feel badly the renters vacation was less than it should have been ! The house however is a vintage lake house similar to one you might have enjoyed as a kid . It takes you back in time and is very relaxing ! As a side note I have posted that renters need to bring their own paddles for the boats . The kids keep breaking them and they seem to go away . Thanks so much , Mark

Relaxing and Roomy spot inside and out for a big family

  • 5 of 5

The house is perfectly located. You are close to IGA and close to town. You are on a very gently sloping lot which is not usual and is great, because you have more room outside.

The house and yard are perfect for a large family with kids and pets.

Owner was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with.

Needs some TLC

  • 2 of 5

This was our first visit and we really enjoyed Lake Lanier. The house is located on a peaceful cove, perfect for kids swimming. We have rented via VRBO several times and were a bit disappointed with this property. The previous guests must have had a pet bc there was dog hair all over the porch, basement and stairs. Also, the house looks as if it had been staged for photos or a sale bc they were misleading. There were old TV's sitting on the floor, furniture missing and the basement door was coming off the hinges. There was a lawn chair and window screen in the lake by the ladder, not good when you have kids swimming. Seemed as if the owners had not been there is some time bc the grass on the "beach" had not been cut and the boat garage doors were open. The owner did let us stay a few extra hours on the departure day which was much appreciated and the kids loved the diving board off the dock. Also, the main living areas were clean and beds comfortable. Seems as if the house has been neglected. We would like to rent again if these things would be addressed and the house had a little TLC bc location is amazing. However at this time, we would choose another property.

Owner's Response: Kathy, I appreciate your feedback . Without information from guest as to their satisfaction I would not know what issues to address with the cleaning crew and landscaping crew . All the issues you mentioned have been addressed and I hope you will consider a stay in the future . Thanks Mark
