Wonderful place to rest and enjoy nature. Beautiful Lake

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful visit to the boathouse! Very rustic and beautiful! Enjoyed the lake and plenty of room. Beds where comfortable. The towns of Landrum and Tryon had so many unique shops and great restaurants! Enjoyed the farmers market also. Look forward to coming back. Small town USA. Just loved it!!

Beautiful, peaceful, perfect vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We adored the time we had here, I had a total 7 people that stayed here and there was lots of room! My family has four teenage sons and an 11 year old son, my husband and me. Mark was amazing to work with! He was very helpful and quick to respond. The house is beautifully set on the lake, my sons and little doggie (Morkie) fished, kayaked, swam and had a ball! There is a super plus to this house, it has Great fishing ! We Caught large mouth bass, crappie and tons of blue gill, the family of geese greeting us ever morning and shared breakfast with us on the deck. The location is wonderful as there was not a lot of tourists and everything you would need is within minutes of the house. The only con, was it didn't last long enough. Thank you Mark for being so awesome and helpful you actually added to the perfect vacation!

We will be back!

Loved the location and house.

We all enjoyed the location and the house, however, the urine smell was still there. It seems to be in the rug under the dining room table. There is a product called MyPetPeed that works. You can get it online. Other than that and the little beach area that we were looking forward to playing on was a mess. If these two things could be fixed, we would come again.

As long as you stay outside, you'll continue to be impressed.

Just don't go inside; The smell alone will knock you over & make you gag. No exaggerating & being as gentle as we can, even after 2 candles, 5 cans of air freshener & 'sucking it up' ... we were still pained. Not sure if the smell was attributed to the numerous large urine stains in the carpet (maybe a pet?!) or the fact that this property was definitely NOT cleaned before our arrival.

The positives: The OUTDOOR views & surroundings are BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!! The water is serene & enjoyable for all ages with decks & activities (swim, fish & boat).

Overall: If the nauseating smell & dirty home (lots of pet hair, dirty dust, toilets/sinks, alive & dead bugs everywhere & missing light bulbs) & downstairs toilet is VERY slow to flush even water ... can ever be remedied, it would be an incredible property with a polite owner & easy pre-check in process.

Owner's Response: To start with the house is not the Ritz Carlton and it is pet friendly ! If people don't like pets they should not rent pet friendly places ! It is a vintage lake house in the country and there are more spiders and bugs in the country as a rule ,outside mostly .The house was cleaned the day before the guest got there by Sara's on home adviser .She uses pictures to verify her work has been done . Both the husband and the wife sent in competing reservations for the house and both put down the wrong dates . The wife started and after a week of asking me to reduce the rent and waive the fees the husband took over with his own inquiry . This made things confusing to say the least . After agreeing to rent to the husband's VRBO inquiry the wife continued to email through VRBO on a different inquiry ..It seemed as if they didn't communicate with each other . I felt like they were tag teaming me . Here is a quote from the wife ," Wow, an additional $200+cleaning taxes and fees?!?! Is there no wiggle room or negotiation ? $350 for a 2B is killing me " .They kept saying VRBO never emailed them any info about the house which has never happened before .I felt like it was designed confusion and after the review I am sure of it !

Private and Peaceful Getaway

I stayed here for the month of August and was nowhere ready to leave when it was over! Perfect for my dog, awesome location, plenty of space, owners easy to get ahold of. I would recommend a getaway to this location in a heartbeat.
