About the property

The cabin is just a few feet from the lake

Perfect location, even better setting. Listen as the wind whistles through the pines and get ready to relax. This 'cabin' is a touch of Northern Minnesota nostalgia with all the necessities to make your vacation completely relaxing. Don't want to cook - there are plenty of fun restaurants nearby. The fully stocked kitchen has a refrigerator, oven, cook top, microwave, coffee pot, and all the dishes and utensils. Sleeps 6 - the bunk beds are great for kids, the bedroom has a double bed. Every room offers an up close view of the lake. The stone fireplace will be a great way to warm up during the cool evenings. Use the fire pit just a few feet from the lake for s'mores and campfire stories. The private dock is a perfect place to tie up your boat after a day of tubing, fishing or just sightseeing and enjoying a day on the lake.

Whether you're looking for a great family getaway, a guys fishing trip, or a relaxing girls trip, this is the place. The wildlife is abundant, the fishing exciting, the relaxing world class. Fall asleep to the call of loons and the feeling that life has gotten back to the pace we can all appreciate....awaken to a cup of coffee on the deck and listen to the world come alive around you. The Lost 40 is less than half an hour away and a treasured Minnesota Forest icon with trails and some unbelievably large pines.

About Lance Pogones

My business partner and our wives own the cabin right next door. We always wanted to purchase this cabin and renovate it. We love the proximity to the lake and really feel like it's the best 100' on the lake. The feeling is as if you've stepped back in time....

Lance Pogones purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Lance Pogones chose Northeast

We looked all over Minnesota and Wisconsin! We loved Jessie Lake the first time we visited and were attracted to the view and the closeness to the lake and nature. We have loved learning about and listening to the loons, always marvel at the bald eagles, and spotted wolves, fox pups, deer, and a bear - and lots of large fish :-)

Not very impressed

  • 2 of 5

Ok, you keep pressuring me for a rating. I didn't want to say anything but here we go. The trailer was very nice and clean, we were deceived by the advertising of a big screen TV which was there, but had no service! The propane tank on our grill was empty! While we were there we put up with two days of major construction on the beach next-door. Dump trucks, backhoes, bobcats, and constant unloading of five dump trucks or more of rock, chainsaws cutting down tree branches so the equipment could get in to build a rip rap rock beach in front of the owners home! We were instructed to put our garbage in the garage, which we did, but the garage doors had holes chewed in them by raccoons !! Well guess what we found in the garage the next morning, all of our garbage bags ripped open and shredded been torn apart by raccoons. Had to clean up that mess! The small rowboat that was supplied with the cabin was sunk in the lake halfway up to the front seats. I could keep going but I need to get back to work. I would highly recommend the owner maybe get a better property management company.

Great up north cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our vacation on Jessie Lake. The cabin was even better than the pictures. It was clean and ready when we arrived and had everything we needed to enjoy our trip. The windows facing the lake make for a great view almost everywhere in the cabin. The large deck facing the lake was fantastic to relax on or eat a meal. The kitchen was large and had all the utensils we needed and the gas grill on the deck worked great (it was very new and nice). We used the row boat for fishing and caught fish right out in front of the cabin! The owner and his family were next door and very nice even allowing us to use their paddle boards. Lance was very responsive to emails and texts leading up to our trip and while we were at the cabin with questions. Would recommend this cabin to family and friends and would definitely book it again in the future. The only critique we had was the shower did not drain well. I have no doubt the owners will address the issue as you can tell they really care about providing a quality experience. Thanks so much for a great relaxing vacation, it was exactly what we were looking for when we booked.

Wedding anniversary trip

  • 4 of 5

Owners are wonderful to work with - they are 5 star. They have obviously made every attempt to make this a comfortable and homey place to stay. Love wall of windows facing lake. Chairs, sofa and beds were comfortable. Previous negative comments about refrig not cooling & no bedroom curtains have been fixed, further evidence of owners desire to make the stay great. Lake is beautiful with cabin/deck right on lake & offering spectacular view. It was very relaxing and private. Enjoyed excursion to 'Lost Forty' and dinner at Riley's Supper Club. Only 30 minutes from Grand Rapids, so convenient to pick up whatever you may need. Only negative was an off smell (NOT mold) in the cabin emminating from inside kitchen cupboards (which might benefit from scrub down with bleach solution, or some other solution to eliminate order); might have been related to initial rainy cool weather & windows being shut, but electric outlet air fresheners from store resolved it. Damage deposit was promptly credited back to my charge card so appreciate that courtesy.

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful hidden gem! The cabin was beautiful and the view of the lake was spectacular!!!! My fiancé and I loved the peace and quiet, while our black lab spent numerous hours jumping off the dock to chase loons and ducks. This was our first vacation free from basically all technology (we did have limited phone service). A nice touch was having a TV and DVD player in the bedroom to watch movies on those rainy days. Personally, the adults loved it, but our teenagers were having withdrawals :) That was easily remedied by having a nice dinner at a local restaurant. I would can not express the tranquility I felt during our stay.....better than any spa!!!!!!!! I can not wait to return, hopefully next year! Thank you for exceeding our expectations and the wonderful stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peaceful relaxation

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent 5 days, 4 nights here and it was just what we wanted and needed - quiet, relaxing, beautiful, fun. The cabin was clean and well appointed with beautiful views of the lake. We loved the wall of windows and french doors. Sitting in a rocker on the deck with a cup of coffee was the perfect way to start the day. We enjoyed the paddleboat and the fishing boat. We rented the outboard motor and fished at several different places on the lake. The kids loved wading and swimming in the lake. We loved watching the loons, pelicans and eagles. Great star-gazing at night, with loons calling in the distance.

We met the owners and their lovely family. They were helpful and welcoming. The owner even took my kids out for some tubing. They loved it! We would definitely go back.

My husband, pooch and I spent Labor Day weekend here and it was absolutely perfect. We have rented many places on VRBO and this is one of the few we would return to without hesitation. The view was beautiful, espeically with all the great windows facing the lake. It felt secluded enough, but still some open space to get some sun and see the fantastic sunset and sky full of starts at night. The cabin was clean and a neat style. The rocking chairs on the deck and the fresh decorations made it feel just like home. The owners, next door, invited us over for a drink by their bonfire which was so welcoming! And the dog thought he had gone to heaven being able to chase waves and jump off the dock for 3 days straight. We reccomend Riley's Fine Food for supper, the Pokegama Dam Rec area in Grand Rapids and Scenic State park. Can't wait to go back.
