Overall ....the cottage was fine. I do have some concerns if the place was mine . the parking area available is to small for anything bigger than a compact car , no vans ! , no pickups! Backing up is a tight procedure due to the BBQ area and posts. The Pine tree and palm fronds need to go ! Not a place if you like privacy, the rollup blinds used afford zero privacy. NO drapes on the patio door either. the cottage is in very close proximity to other units... if u have noisy neighbors, gonna be a longggg week ! I was disappointed with water pressure in the shower till I found a spray setting on the shower head that worked fine. On the plus side...it's NOT the typical Florida sulfur water !! Yeaaaaaa ! The dock was nice to sit and watch boats on the Intercoastal. the bed was firm but comfortable. I was not a fan of the 2 gates I had to go thru to get out, I rate them a minor annoyance. I did not use the pool ,so no comment there. another minor annoyance is the bedroom light system ...The wall light switch operates 1 light ,but u have to remember to turn the light back on in the morning, after turning it out manually from bedside, so when you enter the bedroom in the dark , it,ll work using the wall switch. Confused? ..I was to for awhile. Good location to Siesta Beach area, maybe 10 minutes max. Unit is Easy to get to once you arrive on Siesta Key. Traffic is almost always busy though.
Cute Cottage in a Quiet Complex
We had a great time while in Siesta Key. The cottage was very cute, it could use an updated kitchen but overall is bright and the main living space is very airy. The owners and management are very nice and responsive to the issues we had while there. Sea Club 2 complex is not usually crowded and it's a great place to fish or just sit and watch the boats and dolphins. We even got a visit from a manatee right at the dock. Easy access to the beach across the street. We rode our bikes to the village and to Turtle Beach. We (and our family) have been staying at Sea Club for 20 years or more. It was a little busier than usual for spring break this year. It does not seem the same without Rae in the office. We are hoping that they get someone back in the office for next year.
What a great place. Cottage perfectly located on island in the middle. Great for relaxing and watching the boats go by on the intercoastal waterway, warm pool and close to beach.
A Cozy Cottage
We loved our stay at Pin Oaks. This little house has almost everything you could want or need! It was very clean and well equipped. Although the weather was less than ideal during our visit, all the amenities for beach days were available...chairs, beach towels, even sand buckets. The beach is a short walk (about 5 minutes) and we did take quite a few walks on the beautiful beach and caught an amazing sunset. The owner was always very responsive as was her on-site manager. We hope to visit again and enjoy the peace and quiet of this wonderful home away from home.
Thank you for your kind words. Next visit, we need to order you some better weather. Come back soon.
My wife and I had a delightful six-day stay at Pin Oak, an authentic, impeccably located cottage that is a four-minute walk to a glorious beach and a 20-second walk to the Intercoastal, where we saw blue herons and other beautiful birds. The photos very much reflect the soul of Pin Oak. It is not fancy, not big, but it is clean, well-equipped, tucked humbly amid a few high rises and high-end condos. The place totally works, in all ways. Good, hot shower, nice firm bed, and a little galley kitchen that won't be in a magazine but has every thing you need. Pin Oak is just very thoughtful, a place that has everything you need. Ellen was extremely responsive and the booking process was painless and caretaker Rae was there when we had a few challenges with the Wi-fi (it's working fine; the network name and password had changed). Siesta Key is a fun, funky little village that feels as if it could be out of a Jimmy Buffett song. We would absolutely go back, and plan on it, and will make Pin Oak our headquarters when we do. I'd make a few minor suggestions - leaving a light on for late-arriving guests, having a new little bar of guest soap in the shower, and a few extra pillowcases for the spare pillows - but those are quibbles. Our overall takeaway was nothing but good. Thanks for a sweet stay, Ellen.
Thank you for all of your kind words and for your suggestions. We will address all of them, which you can experience when you return. Hope it is soon. 😀
The photos don't do this darling cottage justice
Comfy, cozy, convenient and clean are all words I would use to describe this delightful cottage, just a short drive and bike ride (on the beach!) to the Village. Pin Oak is well supplied with everything you'll need during your stay. There are great laundry facilities just a quick walk across the lawn, and a fantastic pool and tiki bar area right near the Intercoastal, where fish gather at night under the lamp post on the dock! Just throw your line in! We stayed here in late October, a quiet time on Siesta Key just before the "season" begins. There were very few people around, but Rae, who cares for the property was always available to answer questions and take care of anything we needed.
When we wanted to venture out, we simply rode our bikes (rented from Siesta Key Bike and Kayak near the South Bridge) across the street, down a short drive, then onto Siesta Key beach. The beach is beautiful! With its hard-packed sand down by the shoreline, it's perfect for walkers and bikers. Just head north, then cut over onto Beach Access #5, and you'll be right in town. Every night we enjoyed terrific music at the local bars and happy hour of course! The sun set rather late, at least for us New Englanders, so we had time to stop in town, enjoy a cold $2 beer at the Hub, then bike back before sunset at 7:30 pm.
If you are looking for a quiet, more secluded beach, head south to Turtle Beach. It's gorgeous, with fine white sand and crystal turquoise blue waters. Just across the street is the Turtle Grill, a small tiki style restaurant right on the road. Excellent for lunch! We thoroughly enjoyed many other great restaurants, including the Cottage, located in the Village. Sit in the back patio area and listen to outstanding music while dining. Brian played his acoustic guitar while we ate.
On Monday and Tuesday, Andreas Collins, puts on a great show from 6 to 10 pm at the Hub. Be sure to look for Chris Otto, who often plays at Captain Kurk's near the South Bridge. He's a one-man musical wonder! And every other Saturday night, if you're lucky, you'll catch Ted Stevens and the Doo Shots at Gilligan's Island in the Village. Like to dance? Don't miss out on the Lisa Ridings Band, who we saw on a Friday night at the Blasé Cafe.
Now back to Pin Oak. It's always a bit difficult to rent online without seeing the property. But take my word for it; you will love your stay at Pin Oak. We sure did—and we will definitely be back, sooner than later, I hope!
Reading your review has me smiling from ear to ear. Since 1978 we've owned and shared Pin Oaks, trying to maintain its 'Old Florida' charm, while making sure that it is comfortable, clean and full of modern conveniences. Rae and I are thrilled that your vacation was all that you wished. Brilliant of you to rent bikes. That is our favorite way to enjoy the island. And the music is how we spend many of our evenings in Siesta Village. Thank you for all of your kind words. We cannot wait for your return ... Maybe next visit you'll catch a Sunday night drum circle and some paddleboarding off of Turtle Beach.
You are within minutes of many famous Florida Gulf Coast attractions, including the Ringling Museum of Art and the Ringling Mansion (Ca D'Zan), Selby Botanical Gardens, Jungle Gardens, Mote Marine, Belm's Cars and Music of Yesterday, Myakka River and Oscar Scherer State Parks, and Historic Spanish Point. Activities that can be enjoyed on or near Siesta Key include golf and tennis, bicycling, boating, parasailing, kiting and kayaking. Shop in two quaint Siesta Key shopping areas, three nearby malls, downtown Sarasota, or St. Armands Circle. You can easily visit Tampa or Orlando attractions in a day-trip, and return to Sea Club II for a restful night's sleep. Tampa attractions include Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, The Tampa Museum of Art and The Salvador Dali Museum. World-famous Orlando theme parks include Islands of Adventure and DisneyWorld.
