The photos don't do this darling cottage justice

  • 5 of 5

Comfy, cozy, convenient and clean are all words I would use to describe this delightful cottage, just a short drive and bike ride (on the beach!) to the Village. Pin Oak is well supplied with everything you'll need during your stay. There are great laundry facilities just a quick walk across the lawn, and a fantastic pool and tiki bar area right near the Intercoastal, where fish gather at night under the lamp post on the dock! Just throw your line in! We stayed here in late October, a quiet time on Siesta Key just before the "season" begins. There were very few people around, but Rae, who cares for the property was always available to answer questions and take care of anything we needed.

When we wanted to venture out, we simply rode our bikes (rented from Siesta Key Bike and Kayak near the South Bridge) across the street, down a short drive, then onto Siesta Key beach. The beach is beautiful! With its hard-packed sand down by the shoreline, it's perfect for walkers and bikers. Just head north, then cut over onto Beach Access #5, and you'll be right in town. Every night we enjoyed terrific music at the local bars and happy hour of course! The sun set rather late, at least for us New Englanders, so we had time to stop in town, enjoy a cold $2 beer at the Hub, then bike back before sunset at 7:30 pm.

If you are looking for a quiet, more secluded beach, head south to Turtle Beach. It's gorgeous, with fine white sand and crystal turquoise blue waters. Just across the street is the Turtle Grill, a small tiki style restaurant right on the road. Excellent for lunch! We thoroughly enjoyed many other great restaurants, including the Cottage, located in the Village. Sit in the back patio area and listen to outstanding music while dining. Brian played his acoustic guitar while we ate.

On Monday and Tuesday, Andreas Collins, puts on a great show from 6 to 10 pm at the Hub. Be sure to look for Chris Otto, who often plays at Captain Kurk's near the South Bridge. He's a one-man musical wonder! And every other Saturday night, if you're lucky, you'll catch Ted Stevens and the Doo Shots at Gilligan's Island in the Village. Like to dance? Don't miss out on the Lisa Ridings Band, who we saw on a Friday night at the Blasé Cafe.

Now back to Pin Oak. It's always a bit difficult to rent online without seeing the property. But take my word for it; you will love your stay at Pin Oak. We sure did—and we will definitely be back, sooner than later, I hope!

Owner's Response: Reading your review has me smiling from ear to ear. Since 1978 we've owned and shared Pin Oaks, trying to maintain its 'Old Florida' charm, while making sure that it is comfortable, clean and full of modern conveniences. Rae and I are thrilled that your vacation was all that you wished. Brilliant of you to rent bikes. That is our favorite way to enjoy the island. And the music is how we spend many of our evenings in Siesta Village. Thank you for all of your kind words. We cannot wait for your return ... Maybe next visit you'll catch a Sunday night drum circle and some paddleboarding off of Turtle Beach.

Very disappointed

  • 1 of 5

Fixtures were adorable, and location was great. Unfortunately that didn't out weigh the fact that it was not clean! The building manager swept when we arrived however things were not cleaned thoroughly! We found an old bra under bed and tons of dead bugs and cob webs. At night we could watch the bugs crawling through the wood corners of dining area which we were told by an islander were termites! Linen fee did not dish towels/ rags and we were expected to wash dishes!! Top sheet was forgotten the first night so manager did run us over one the next day. Dish soap was a watered down bottle containing about an ounce. I wish it would have been explained that not even a hotel size bar of soap would have been provided! Washer and dryer was not in unit as it was presented it was across road and coin operated! Too many negative things to list! Our dream girlfriend trip of 20 yr planning was ruined!

Enjoyed our stay

  • 4 of 5

Overall I would give this property a 4+ rating, as we had a very pleasant time at the cottage. It is not a 5 rating, as the cottage needs updating here and there. Especially in the kitchen.

Here the pros:

+ Great communication when booking

+ great location on Siesta Key with privat beach access (fantastic!)

+ Sea Club 2 is a nice area with swimming pool and chairs and nice views

+ comfortable bed

+ new pots and pans in the kitchen

+ cute cottage from outside

+ good WiFi

+ beach chair and umbrella (however some of the chairs are broken)

Cons:

- kitchen and fridge old

- bathroom also old/dated

We really had a good time and would recommend it.

We loved our stay!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was clean and neat and situated in a very cool Old Florida lot. We had it all! The pool area was on the intercoastal and the beach was an easy walk across the road. Siesta is a great place to visit. So easy w tips-only and public transportation you can safely get to all the Key has to offer!

Cozy, Comforable Escape

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Pin Oak! The simple, comfortable cottage (with a bed that slept great) was a perfect place to relax all week. The beach access through The Beach House directly across Midnight Pass Road (which we weren't aware of in advance) made it an easy walk to the beach. Two lots off the intercoastal waterwary, it was easy to stroll out and enjoy the view from the hammock or lounge chair or relax in the pool. Two miles from the village, we used the free (tips only) shuttles and the new SCAT Trolley (totally free) when we didn't feel like or want to make the walk. We had a great time!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your vacation and our cottage (and the bed). We are thrilled that Siesta is offering free shuttle service throughout the island. What a treat to park the car at the cottage and be able to walk, ride rental bikes (that can be delivered to the cottage) or grab a free ride. Hope to see you back soon. The hammock will be waiting ...

Cute, comfortable and beachy cottage on property that has kept its "old Florida" charm!!

  • 4 of 5

This is our fourth time staying at Sea Club 2. This property is not only in an excellent location on the inter coastal waterway but has beach access across the street. We like the ability to be able to fish at the dock on site. This cottage was the perfect size for a couple and we would definitely stay again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and we hope that you choose to stay at Pin Oaks for all of your future visits. We love the 'old Florida' feel that is difficult to find today and the location is truly ideal. We are thankful that Siesta Key is now offering free taxi/shuttle service around the island. Hopefully you were able to enjoy this new service. We are constantly making improvements to our little piece of paradise and can't wait for your return visit.
