Enjoy the ever changing beauty of the Malaspina Straight and nearby Texada Island from this recently built off-the-grid cottage. This cottage was carefully integrated into a 100 foot stretch of marine shoreline, maintaining shoreline vegetation and maximizing wildlife use. Bald eagles roost immediately above the cottage and fish in the bay below that hosts a myriad of seabirds as well as dolphins, otters and occasional orcas. Access is available to a rocky shore below, where you can swim in the pleasant bay waters. The 1800 square foot cottage on 3 acres offers two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, each of which has access to a deck overlooking the ocean. There is a California king sized bed in the master and queen size in the second bedroom - both bedrooms have their own bathrooms. The living area is open and well designed combining a large modern kitchen with the adjacent dining and living room space. The inland side of the house offers a large brick patio that is sunny and peaceful, and looks out at magnificent Doug firs and madrone trees. Hiking or mountain biking is available immediately up Middlepoint Road into Crown forest land, as well as numerous other hikes to the north and south in adjacent provincial parks such as picturesque Francis Point or the famous Skookumchuck rapids. A well stocked market, pharmacy, as well as restaurants and coffee houses are located just 3 km north of the cottage in Pender Harbor.

About Stephen Stanley
Originally from NSW, Australia, I have lived primarily along the West coast of the US. My wife and two boys moved to the Pacific Northwest over twenty years ago. As an aquatic biologist I have worked to protect and restore both freshwater and marine ecosystems, particularly in the Puget Sound area.
Stephen Stanley purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Stephen Stanley chose Halfmoon Bay
This property was magical to us, since the marine and shoreline environment was so rich and visually stunning. We always found that we could relax here and feel truly re-invigorated when we left.
What makes this Cottage unique
Extremely peaceful with essentially none of the urban noise that one takes for granted in our daily lives. The skies are incredibly clear at night and you can see the milky way which is not possible along most stretches of the west coast. Bird life is abundant and marine intertidal area is healthy. Outside of storm events, coastal waters are relatively calm with few waves, making it ideal for kayaking and swimming.

Views for days, peaceful and away from it all, yet every comfort and convenience!
My friend and I stayed at the cottage for three nights. We loved that it was "off the grid" yet offered all the creature comforts and modern amenities of a fine hotel.
When you first enter the home you are struck by the open and Airy layout, all focused around that view. And what a view it is. Water water everywhere, with doors to the deck from almost every space within the home.
We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the chaise lounges on the deck and soaking in the view with a glass of wine, using the propane grill to BBQ, and even took a trek down the slope to access the rocky beach and water. Evenings were spent in front of a roaring fire that we built using the supplied wood and kindling. Stephen was very accessible and quick to respond with any questions that we had.
We hiked, dined, checked out the local shops and assisted the Canadian economy! Just a few miles north of the home is charming Pender Harbour. Had a great breakfast at a little cafe there, shopped at the local IGA which was well stocked with anything you could need, and there's even a liquor store right there. To the south is adorable Half Moon Bay with another great little market and cafe. All the locals were friendly and gracious. Sechelt is about 20 minutes south and provides all the amenities of a good size town, complete with coffee, restaurants and shops. Also make sure to check out Secret Cove.
We loved exploring Sunshine Coast. This is our first visit to this area and we will definitely be back. Thank you Stephen for sharing your hime and providing us with such a wonderful opportunity and experience. Alicia and Michele
Fantastic view, secluded, beautiful home! Thank you!
So beautiful and peaceful. Your oasis while on the Sunshine Coast. Need a car to explore, go hiking!
Beautiful home and amazing views. Would definitely return
Stephens cabin is absolutely perfect peaceful and everything you need for a west coast experience !
This will be our fourth year at Stephens cabin. Each year we stay a few days longer. It’s such a pleasure to wake up with the sound of the ocean and wondering what new surprises the natural surroundings will treat you to!! The cabin if you can call it that is beautiful clean and extremely well appointed and equipped. The decks are probably where you can spend most of your day! Lots of hiking and biking just across the road on middlepoint . And for those who want a private swim a trek down the goat path will reward you with an excellent place to plunge ! Bring your snorkel there are plenty of fish in the sea:) thank you again Stephen your place is a highlight for our summer.!! Katherine and Peter.
Nice cottage with great view
The cottage was nice and the views were great as was the weather when we went. My first impression when first entering the cottage was that it was nice with all the wood but felt like it could have been cleaner. I wouldn't say it was dirty but for the amount of money spent I would have expected it to be cleaner. Also we had known before arriving that you can't drink the the water but I expected there to be some already in the dispenser not just a jug that was almost empty. I had to go drive to get some which wasn't far away just kind of annoying. We had no issues with the solar power or hot water. The owner was helpful and good at communicating, checking in was easy. The kitchen was fully stocked and there was satellite tv and movies to watch. The bed was comfortable, lots of deck space to sit and relax. I suggest bug spray there were lots of mosquitos even in the heat of the sun.
The cabin is gorgeous with an incredible view
We had a lovely stay. As mentioned the cabin itself is beautiful and the view is unbeatable. A few things to note: the road in is very bumpy and would be best for a four wheel drive. Definitely needs to be taken, at least the first time, during daylight. Our Mazda 5 would have struggled in the mud. The dishwasher wasn’t operating which wasn’t a big deal for us and there were not great coffee making supplies, especially since the small espresso maker had coffee left in it that had not been cleaned in a very long time. We didn’t use that. Overall, a very nice experience!
