Rustic House And Cabin

One of the oldest homes in the area built with handhewn beams and upgraded with all the conveniences. Sitting on 16 acres guests can hike up to the top with a wonderful view of the Adirondack mountains and hear the whistle of the Adirondack tour train. There's so many attactions to visit , but if you'd like to stay in on a rainy day, or otherwise, the house offers a pooltable 'mancave', board games and tv and movies. Lots to do without even going out. Please consider reading the positive 'reviews' at our other vacation rentals listed on vrbo and know that we strive for the same quality here, too. About Owner/Manager Glenda Duell

My parents actually manage this home for me as I served 9 years in the army and deployed to Iraq for 3 tours. After my first tour, an elderly lady in the community, who was best friends with my grandmother, inquired of me about purchasing her home since she was downsizing. At 22 years old, I purchased this home from her with my savings as a down payment and she held the mortgage with me. I've found it to be the best decision I could have made with my savings and now have decided to have my parents, Kent and Glenda Duell, manage a vacation rental for me, as my wife and I live in Texas. The renovated cabin is a wonderful plus to the property and I can't wait to visit and stay in it for the fall hunting season.

Great house

  • 5 of 5

The house was exactly what we needed. A lot of beds, a great fire pit, a BBQ and near lake George. Glenda took great care of setting up the house for us. Everything that she said would be there was there and it was a very smooth process overall. Highly recommend this place for a large gathering.

Owner's Response: Thank you Montgomery for the great review. I try to pass the reviews to the maids and maintenance people as they are very encouraged by them as well. Hope you 'll consider a revisit very soon. The fall colors are absolutely beautiful here. Glenda

The Rustic Home

  • 3 of 5

The property area is very quiet and peaceful. About 8 miles to lake George, the best destination, lots to do.

Main house need at lease 2 bathroom, for the amount of people occupied, and need some update.

The Cabin nice and clean, however the futon mattress and bedroom mattress need to change.

Over all we enjoyed our stay, 16 persons.

It was a 5* property

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a fabulous time at our reunion. The house had everything that we needed and then some. It was close to everything and everywhere we needed to go. Then fire pit was really great as the evening got quite cold and the toasted marshmallows were done perfectly.

My only opinion is that 2 bathrooms are not quite enough for 19 people.

I would highly recommend your property to anyone who wants to have a great house and a great time.

Not so pleased

  • 4 of 5

So first when we arrived the place wasn't clean, driers and tv was not working. Lots of bugs and the sheets were disgusting. The pool water was so cold and not heated and also there was a snake.

Owner's Response: I sure don't understand this review. We have a full time maintenence crew and maid service. I INSPECT EACH AND EVERY PROPERTY MYSELF TO ENSURE IT IS CLEANED AND WELL STOCKED. The linens are professionally cleaned after each groups stay. We use medical grade "sterifab" sprays for all the beds and furniture to ensure against bugs of any kind. The pool is vacuumed and chlorinated every few days. With the excessive rain this year it has required additional care. As for the snake-I hate'em , too! It's to be expected on 5 acres in the country. This group still rated their stay with 4 out of 5 stars. Really? What's not to like. Glenda

Great Getaway with Friends

  • 5 of 5

A group of my friends and I (16 in total), rented out this home for a final weekend together before we all moved off to college. It was the best weekend of the summer for all of us and we had an AMAZING time. The house was set up perfectly for all of us to hang around the giant dining room table to talk. The main house has a great family room with a huge flat screen TV and satellite. The pool was a great addition and the pool table was as well. The kitchen appliances allowed us to make dinner each night. When we first showed up, there wasn't a propane tank on the grill. We were just about to go buy one when Glenda pulled up and told us that she would have her husband drop off a propane tank for us so we wouldn't have to buy one. Glenda was so sweet and her husband was hilarious. The little house that is separate from the main house has a queen bed, futon, small flat screen tv, full kitchen, and full bathroom. The little house is really gorgeous. We spent a day and went to Lake George to walk around which took us 15 minutes to get there from the house. We also spent another day at the Echo Lake beach which is about 5 minutes from the house and its a truly gorgeous and chill place to be. The fire pit has a lot of chairs and the stars were absolutely GORGEOUS at night. The only thing that was rough for all of us is the lack of internet and service at the house. We were stuck with 1 bar of service the whole weekend so our phones were basically useless. This actually made us all bond even more though, but Glenda also said she was going to add internet in the house very soon. We were so pleased with our visit and it was a great way to end the summer for all of us. Thanks so much Glenda! We will definitely be back next year!!!!

Owner's Response: WOW! Thanks to a great bunch of guys . Reviews like this are such an encouragement. We are planning by next summer to add wifi. We may have to cut a few more trees for a signal. Please do revisit. It s beautiful in the Adirondacks in the fall. Again, thanks so much.Glenda
