Why Melanie Kane chose Lake Winnipeg

We have has always dreamed of owing a vacation property as a getaway and a place where we could raise our children and create lifelong memories. This place was perfect!

What makes this cabin unique

We instantly feel in love with our beach house because of its open feeling and gorgeous view out the front windows! We could cook meals in the kitchen and keep an eye on the kids playing in the front yard or in the living room. Once the kids are soundly sleeping, we enjoy quiet time together either reading a book or catching up on adult time with a glass of wine, a beer or two while sitting out on the screened in porch. No T.V here. It's about simple living, making memories and catching up on some much needed relaxation time!!!

The walk to the private beach is stunning. While walking down the path you end up at a pond filled with frogs and creatures the kids go crazy for. But that's not the best part, once you climb a ramp and come to your final destination, trust me you will be blown away by the view and the very large and spacious beach. Most days its peaceful and you can spread out and enjoy family time or seek away and enjoy the sun and a good book!

Beautiful, spacious, clean, all the amenities

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week at this cabin. Beautiful, clean and relaxing space with all the amenities. The owner was helpful and very quick to respond to any questions we had.

Even though the weather was a little cool and rainy a few days, there were lots of games (and toys for our little one) to keep us busy. We loved exploring the Sandy Bay beach, Albert Beach, Victoria Beach and a Grand Beach. We would love to stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Love this place!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year we've stayed here and we just love it! We love the beachy, home-y feel- perfect for a relaxing!

We love the location, the beautiful crowd-less beach, and the cabin compete with everything we need. My sister and I stay here with our sevin kids and there's plenty of room for all of us. Thanks Melanie!!

Great place to stay with family

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cottage! There were 10 of us staying and there was plenty of space for everyone. There was lots to do in the area - the weather was beautiful and we went to a new beach every day. The walk over to Elk Island was a highlight. Highly recommend doing it! The kitchen was well-stocked and the kids played in the backyard every day. Thankyou for having us!

One more time!

  • 4 of 5

We have been renting in the Victoria Beach area for 8 years. Our experience with renting other beach houses has been mediocre at best...a place on the water with no screens on the windows, a cottage advertised as sleeping 8 with uncomfortable beds for 5...the list goes on. We had no desire to go back to any of these previous rentals. However Our experience this week at the Kane's beach house was wonderful- a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds for all, a welcoming screened porch, a bright and airy beach house stocked with games and books. The Kane beach house is located minutes from the beach and with the use of bikes provided we were able to explore the area ....finding the path to 8th ave and following it to fresh baking at Enfields In Victoria Beach. Would we go back one more time? Yes without a doubt. The only request we would make would be wifi for those rainy days ( we had one ) and even though we had a mobile hotspot we would prefer not to have racked up the data usage. Such a small point I know and it really didn't impact our fantastic week!

Comfortable, clean and good value

  • 4 of 5

My family of 7 adults and 2 children just returned from a fun and comfortable one week stay at this roomy beach house. The layout is perfect for everyone to have their own space. Kitchen is well-equipped and the screened porch is a great place to sleep. The beds are comfortable and the place is clean. The cottage is for adults and older children...the spiral stairs to the second floor can be a challenge for the elderly and young tots. No TV - but we did not miss it. The location is perfect - a short walk to the beach for sunrise, sunsets and northern lights. This is cottage country, not a resort, so prepare for rustic atmosphere with class. This is good value for this area.

Owner's Response: Thank-you so much for your kind words, you were great guests and a pleasure to deal with! I would like to acknowledge your comment on the spiral staircase up to the second floor. You are right they would be a challenge for the elderly. But speaking from experience with a three and a five year old the spiral staircase does not mean you cannot enjoy our beach house if you have a young family. The stairs require respect but they are definitely not something to worry about when considering your stay. For further reassurance, please take a look at the other reviews we have received from the many families that have stayed with us.

Amazing Location, Great Owner...we will be back!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing location. Cabin and all upgrades can be noticed when you first walk in. There were 4 adults and 4 kids and we had our own space and weren't constantly running into each other. Kitchen was stocked, everything was spotless and clean when we first walked in. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were more comfortable than some of the higher end hotels we've had the chance to stay in. The owner, Melanie, responds quickly to text messages and was a pleasure to deal with. Close to all beaches (one which was within walking distance) and easy to get around. Be mindful on the RM's fire pit by-laws as you should get a fire permit from the Victoria Beach fire hall (they are free and take 24 hours to get). We have rented in this area over the past few years and this by far was the best one we have ever had the privilege of staying at. We will definitely be looking at renting again next year should we be welcomed back! Thanks again for allowing us to stay!

Car: recommended

Our rental property is NOT in VICTORIA BEACH, but it is located in the R.M of Victoria beach and is a short car ride away.

There are 2 beaches within walking distance of the beach house. Albert beach is 5 minutes by car where you will find a grocery store, restaurant, ice cream parlour and a store for swimwear. There are sand cliffs 500 yards North of the turn off to Victoria Beach. Grand beach is a 20 minute car ride away with a large beach and boardwalk and a ton of shops to spend your time at. You'll also find an arcade, 2 burger places, a pizza place, mini golf and a bakery. You can also go to Victoria Beach for baked goods and other summer activities. Try googling 'Victoria Beach activities' or 'Grand Beach activities' for further information. The birchwood motor hotel has a restaurant, beer vendor, bar and beach volleyball. 7 minutes away from our beach house is Traverse Bay which has a restaurant, a grocery store, laundry mat, liquor store and a gas station. We hear there is great fishing but you'll have to ask the locals as we don't fish :)
