Charming Cottage Situated Steps From Lac Courte Orielles

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Cottage. Sleeps 6

We would like to invite you to visit our cottage on Lac Courte Oreilles. It will offer you and your family the perfect North woods getaway. Our charming cottage has 3 bedrooms that comfortably sleep 6. It also has a kitchen/dining area, living room, bathroom, and a lakeside screened porch. Out the steps from the screen porch there is a level front lawn that flows right up to the lake. Many lake rentals look nice in pictures, but once you arrive you discover that the home is elevated. There may be 50 (or more!) stair steps to the water! Not so with our place. Once you leave our cottage there is just 20 level feet until you are on the dock.

Aside from its own private 120 feet of level lake frontage, other outside amenities include a fire ring near the water’s edge, lawn furniture, a hammock, 2 bench swings, a charcoal grill, and a smoker. Your stay also includes the use of a paddleboat, swim raft, and 4 kayaks.

Our lake, Lac Courte Oreilles, is over 5 miles long and is approximately 5,000 acres. It is the largest natural lake in the county. It’s well known for excellent fishing, water sports, sailing and exploring. At our location, the bottom gently tapers from nothing at shore, to 3 feet deep at the swimming area at the end of the dock. From there it continues to gently taper out into deeper water. There is an excellent pan fishing spot right in front of the neighbor’s dock. Depending on your casting ability – you can fish right from our dock! Or, simply head out in one of the kayaks or on the paddleboat. The water is absolutely crystal clear ALL year long. No muck! Additionally, there are two really fun restaurants on the lake. Angler’s has amazing pizza and drinks and Trail’s End has an expansive deck and live music. The kids like their sand beach and playground.

Come join us and have a memorable family vacation. Memories are made at the lake!

About Karen Christenson

We are a family of four from La Crosse, Wi

Karen Christenson purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Karen Christenson chose Stone Lake

I grew up coming to the Hayward area every summer and loved it. Fortunately, my husband did as well and we found our place a few years ago. As our children have gotten busier with baseball, we decided it was time to share our little piece of heaven with others. This cottage should never be empty! There is simply too much fun to be had there.

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage was perfect for us. Not too big - who wants to maintain a large home on vacation!?! And right on the water of one of the best lakes in the area - who could resist?

Nice little getaway

  • 4 of 5

I took my kids to the cabin for a little fun and relaxation. You can catch perch off the dock or go out fishing in the row boat or paddle boat. They provided us with wood for a fire and also had a lighter. They had towels for us to use. There were also movies and games that the kids enjoyed. We had fun using the kayaks and the paddle boat. It was a very relaxing vacation!

The only thing I would mention on the negative side is that the tap water smells (it is pretty strong) and tastes funny but that tends to happen when you go out in the woods. I would suggest buying water to bring to drink.

Nice clean cabin in great area

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was well appointed and comfortable

The beds were comfortable. We really liked the screened in porch, front yard, and the dock.

We caught a smallmouth bass and several perch off the dock and hooked and almost got a good size pike using the row boat until it broke my line trying to get it into the boat.

We golfed almost everyday at some great reasonably priced courses in the area.

We had a lot of really good dinning at local restaurants.

Great week on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was well kept and just steps from the lake. My son and I enjoyed the week on the lake fishing. The available boat lift made docking very easy and kept my boat very safe. My wife and daughter took advantage of the easy drive to Hayard and Stone Lake and spent the days shopping and exploring. After leaving, I sure miss having my early morning coffee looking out at the grate lake view and watching the ducks, loons, and geese. The area was very quiet and peaceful. I really enjoyed the week!

Beautiful view!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay! This cabin is exactly what is advertised. We loved the fact that the cabin is right on the water (no steep stairs)! Very clean, everything you can think of is in the cabin for your use and the owner's are very accessible if any needs arise. Neighbors were great and very friendly. We will be coming back!!

Fantastic Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was perfect for our family of 4! The cottage was clean and looked just lieke the photos on here, but there was more to the cottage than you can see from this site! The outdoor area was perfect! We just jumped off the dock and swam, we also used the swim raft that was there and the kids (and dad too) loved it! The outdoor sitting area by the fire pit was awesome, lots of wood there to use also, we didn't even need to bring our roasting sticks for s'mores. We ate breakfast every morning in the screened in porch and listened to the loons! The kids loved the bunk beds, and the inside of the cottage was everything we needed for our stay! We took our boat and it was wonderful to have a place to dock it right there! We liked it so much we were making calls on our way home to book it for next year! Any time we had questions, the owner got back to us very promptly!

Ecellent Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great vacation staying in this sweet cottage. Everything was as described and the owners answered all our questions before and during our stay quickly. It had a great dock, swim platform and our favorite activity was kayaking with the kayaks they allowed us to use!! They also left great notes on things to do in the area. It was nice too that the neighbors did not mind us renting for the week and even stopped by to say "hi" and let us know they were there if we needed anything. The location of the property was great for going into Hayward and enjoying the town and all it has to offer, not to far but not too close. If you have a boat it was also a great location for getting to and from the boat launch.
