About the property

This cozy riverfront paradise has 1 bedroom plus a loft, 1 bathroom, and hot tub

Rustic River Paradise is located on the banks of the Skykomish River with soaring views of the mountains and river. Enjoy the sounds of the rushing water as you relax in the hot tub, or watch eagles and osprey soar from the large, wraparound deck! Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in plentiful light and broad views up and down river while you prepare a delicious dinner in the open kitchen, or warm your toes by the wood stove.

Rustic River Paradise is at the end of a private road, providing quiet and serenity while on a publicly maintained paved street, which allows for easy access in the winter months. Situated close to Stevens Pass Mountain Resort, Stevens Pass Nordic Center, many beautiful hiking trails, river rafting & kayaking tours, and a beautiful sandy beach within easy walking distance, Rustic River Paradise is the perfect launch point for all of your play and relaxation in the breathtaking North Cascade mountains.

Please note: while this property is riverfront with a stunning view, a public easement on the river does allow for neighborhood foot traffic between the home and the river.

Beautiful , but NO privacy

  • 1 of 5

This cabin and setting is just like the photos. Beautiful location and the end of the road and over-looking the Skykomish River. Nice enough accommodations, but the welcome mat should have been replaced two or three years ago.

The furniture is comfortable, but the rugs are old and faded.

To our surprise (no one told us before hand, but did after our call-in to the office), this property has a jogging trail between the deck and the river. We were thinking we were alone and the two of us dressed accordingly. OMG! Here is a male dressed in jogging clothes running through our yard with-in three feet of our deck. NO privacy. The next afternoon, the same thing.

Great place for visuals, but NO privacy.

The rental company does not tell the vacationers about this before rental activities take place. Jason at Mystic Mountain Properties e-mailed me with this news . . . after the fact. No monetary returns offered are given.

Owner's Response: Hello Jerry! We really appreciate you choosing Mysty Mountain Properties for your getaway, and taking the time to share your feedback regarding the stay. So glad you enjoyed the home, views, and proximity to the river. I understand this path is seldom used, as the majority of homes in this community are part-time residences at most, but I do sincerely apologize if this was a jarring experience. Overall, our guests find Rustic River Paradise to be a private and serene place to stay. Thank you again, and I hope you will give us the chance to provide you with a fantastic North Cascades getaway in the future! All the best, Mysty Mountain Properties

Our favorite cabin to date!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, dog and I had such a fantastic time at Rustic River Paradise. We came here for a much needed break and were not disappointed. It took a minute to navigate our way there from the main road, but were very pleased that it was well off the road due to our dog, and that it was a private unit at the end of the road, no neighbors looking in and sitting right on the bank of the Skykomish River, with mountains opposite, the view is absolutely amazing.

Although on the small side (only recommend for one couple or small family), the bed was very comfortable and the upstairs loft nice for afternoon naps and reading.

We spent our days hiking at nearby Wallace Falls, watching snow storms sweep the tops of the mountains from our view sitting in the hot tub, grilling our dinners, and mostly reconnecting and enjoying our respite.

We've stayed at many MMP's over the years, but this one truly takes the cake and we can't wait to go back!

Great little Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing relaxing stay at the Rustic River. Such a unique cabin in an unbeatable location. We were a little worried about the nearby neighbors as we drove up but once we stepped inside and onto the back deck, it was total privacy and quiet. The hot tub and river views were perfect for melting away the stress of everyday life. And with great hikes and Stevens Pass so close by, we got plenty of exercise too! Prepared many meals in the quaint kitchen while the kids walked to the river or played games in front of the fire. One thing, we did have trouble with the satellite TV on the first night but when we called and left a message, someone called us right back and got it working again. We were impressed by the prompt and friendly service from the manager. All in all an unforgettable stay, we will definitely be back!

Nice cabin, convenient to Stevens Pass

  • 3 of 5

Cabin has big beautiful windows overlooking the river (and if clear weather) mountains beyond. Loft has three beds, which is great configuration for older kids. Cabin clean and basically as advertised. Board games, TV, VCR/DVD, videos available. Very cozy. Kitchen reasonably well stocked with cookware.

Considerations: Baring itself is short on amenities. Nearest places to eat if you aren't cooking are the one deli in Skykomish or the Zeke's hamburger place outside of Gold Bar. Nearest real grocery store is essentially Gold Bar. Plan accordingly.

Cabin itself needed much better lighting in the main room. Also, bedroom has a persistent smell - perhaps mold - which was mentioned by several previous renters in the guest book.

Fun and quirky needs TLC

  • 3 of 5

The property is at the end of a paved road in a small development well off the highway. It's right down on the river with steep ridges on two sides that give it a dark and closed in feel. The front of the cabin faces the river with a wall of windows that nicely frame the river and mountains. Inside you'll find a quirky but fun layout. There is one bedroom downstairs, two separate toilets that are side by side, and a steep set of stairs leading to a sleeping loft. The loft has a nice view of the river but very little headroom. The kitchen is adequate but in need of updating. The oven, cooktop, coffeemaker, and pots and pans were especially suspect and looked in need of replacement. We liked the old skis on the walls that were used as coat hooks and towel racks. There's a wood stove in the living room that makes the cabin feel warm and cozy. Overall the place has a bit of run down feel and it needs some TLC. The floor is sagging in many places, the cabinets doors are all beat up, sliding glass doors are old and have huge air leaks...it's an old cabin in the woods. Fun but quirky. The main problem we had was with the odor in the bedroom. It smelled like a used diaper in there. We kept the door closed as much as possible but the the saggy floor had shifted the door frame so much the door couldn't be closed completely. The other problem was the thermostat is in the bedroom behind the door for some strange reason. This meant we had to go in and out a couple times a day to adjust the temp and then the whole place would smell for a bit. Outside there were branches and garbage laying around. The bank had been undermined and cordoned off with flagging tape. Not safe for small children or puppies. When we called to complain about the smell they sent a maintenance man out. He agreed that it smelled but couldn't find the source and then left. No one came out with bleach and hot water or a mop. Nothing. There were other small things like no kindling, paper or firewood. The hot tub was set at 93*. The coffee pot was dirty and pans in the kitchen were dirty and greasy. Just poorly maintained and managed.

Owner's Response: Hello Aaron, we truly appreciate you staying with us and taking the time to share the feedback. While cabins in the woods can have their quirks and challenges, we are always open to input from guests on how we can improve. Our property care team took your feedback to heart, and along with the cabin owners, have addressed most if not all of these items, including the odor. I hope you enjoyed the stay despite some non-ideal aspects and I hope you will give us another chance to impress you with an excellent mountain getaway! Very best, Mysty Mountain Properties

Rustic River Thanksgiving

  • 4 of 5

This is a great property and we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving there. The living area is spacious with plenty of seating and the deck is huge with a lovely view of the river and mountains. There was plenty of firewood there for us and the wood stove kept the place warm and toasty. The road that leads up to the property is paved and there was plenty of room for our pet to go outside. It's basically in a little neighborhood so you feel a little safer but once you are in the cabin you feel like you're all alone in the middle of nowhere because you can't really see any other cabins or homes. There is a staircase that leads up to 3 out of the 4 beds so you must be able to climb steps (which are a bit steep for a staircase) and it may not be recommended for small children but the upstairs area is spacious enough for 5 people to sleep easily. We will definitely be back!
