Our home, located on South Puget Sound, has complete privacy on all sides and full waterfront views from literally every room. Because this has been our 'home away from home' for so many years, we have gone out of our way to make it comfortable and a 'second' home for all of our guests. Our beach home is 3 levels, totaling 2600 square feet. We have two bedrooms on the main level, one with a queen bed and the other with two sets of bunk beds. Linens, sheets and bedding are all new and we have down comforters on most of the beds. The kitchen and main bathroom are also on the main level. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need- a garbage disposal, coffee maker, toaster, blender, mixer etc... We provide napkins, paper towels, spices, coffee, tea, lemonade, syrup, oils, ziploc bags, foil etc... Kitchen/dining area can seat up to 12. There is a deck off the kitchen/dining area, complete with a new gas barbecue. The master bedroom is located upstairs and has vaulted ceilings, all new Pottery Barn bedding, a flat screen TV and a private deck and bathroom. We also have an air conditioning unit in the master bedroom as well as on the main level living room so it stays cool on those hot summer nights! Downstairs is another great family gathering space! There is a large leather sectional couch, brand new large flat screen TV, foosball and games for all to enjoy! A full-sized washer/dryer and bathroom are also downstairs.

About Darci Russell
We are natives to the Northwest and live in Bellevue, Wa. Many of our great family memories and experiences have been with our two boys on Harstine Island. As our boys got older, our lives became busier. We decided to rent our vacation home and share our love of the area with others. It's a wonderful place all year long, whether you're enjoying the long hot summer days and roasting marshmallows by the fire or cuddling up inside watching the rain hit the water.
Darci Russell purchased this House in 1987
Why Darci Russell chose Shelton
We fell in love with Harstine Island for so many reasons. First and foremost, we love the peace, quietness and beauty of the South Sound. We truly enjoy the no bank beach, something that is fairly rare on the island. It's a relatively short drive from Seattle and we don't have to worry about ferry schedules! We are somewhat secluded and have views of Indian Island right across from us. We love looking out at water and trees instead of other homes- this is a very tranquil setting.

We’ve been renting this house with another family a week each summer for 3 years now. It’s fantastic. The deck, the lawn, the beach, and the calm waters make for constant fun and relaxation.
Thank you Jeremy- so glad you enjoy the beach house... can't wait to have you all back! Darci
Another great family vacation
We had our annual family reunion vacation and it was everything we hoped and wished for. The house is very comfortable and the location cannot be beat. The beach and sunsets are wonderful and the rental experience was great. We highly recommend this property for an outstanding summer vacation.
Thank you Diane, I'm so glad you enjoyed your family reunion and that we could share the beach house with you. You're welcome back any time! Darci
so restful and quiet
Lots of room inside and out for adults to relax, and kids to play games. Kayaks and beachcombing are our favorite. Non stop views.
peaceful, tranquil retreat
This property is neat, clean, and well maintained. The setting is peaceful and quiet. The home is well-equipped with games, kayaks, and audio-visual entertainment options, all of which were in good working order, and having entertainment options spread out over three floors means children and parents can have a little separation if need be. The furniture, including the beds, is quite comfortable. All of the appliances work and work well. The washer and dryer are newer and better than what we have at home. The back decks are wonderful and in excellent condition - -no concern about picking up splinters in bare feet.
Finally, the owners and their friend who manages the rentals for them all seem to be invested in the idea of their guests enjoying their time at the home. They are very attentive and responsive. They helped us out after our daughter left her eye glasses behind by sending them back to our home immediately after we discovered they were missing. Sure, you are renting the property, but it is clear they love it and want you to love it as much as they do.
Great home, great beach access, plenty to do without ever leaving the home!
I definitely recommend this home. It is very comfortable and well maintained. My only minor complaint, that wasn't enough to reduce my rating to 4 stars, was that I think the sprinkler system was malfunctioning? It came on about every hour and made the yard so soggy it was unusable. It also drenched our s'mores session as they came on and soaked the fire pit area. Everything else was top notch! Lots to do in the house with Netflix, Roku, and Xbox. The foosball table was great! The views from all 3 decks were beautiful! The fact that they provide kyaks and life vests at no extra charge was a huge selling point for me, and the kyaking was a highlight for us, even though the weather didn't exactly cooperate. The amount of things that come furnished with this house is really second to none compared to other homes I've rented. If you are looking for a nice quiet retreat to recharge the batteries, this is the place. We were barely there for a day an a half, but it felt like much longer. I would be surprised if we didn't stay here again within the next year.
This place is amazing!
We stayed here for 5 nights in June and loved every minute of it! It is so peaceful and beautiful. We had 5 people staying here- My husband and I and our 3 kids ages 14-22. Plenty of room for more people!
The house has everything you would need to cook and relax. We loved the 2 kayaks and used them every day. We loved walking on the rocky beach and watching the changing tide. We spent a lot of our time outdoors on the beach, on the deck, fishing or on the kayaks. We had smores one night in the fire pit. The beds were very comfortable! There were plenty of towels. We thought we would be watching TV and movies a lot but we hardly did that at all. There was so much daylight, that we found ourselves just being part of nature until it got dark around 9:30.
This island is breathtaking! I took so many pictures. We visited both state parks on the island - Jarrell Cove and Harstine Island. (Need a Discovery Pass) We found lots of sand dollars on Harstine Island State Park on the beach at the end of the beautiful trail. We also visited the wild cat sanctuary on the island. (wildfelids.org) We saw all of the cats and the beautiful gardens that they live in. We were very impressed with this place.
We also took a ferry from Bremerton to Seattle and walked to Pike Place Fish Market, Pike Place Chowder, Space Needle and Chihuly Garden & Glass. One other day, we drove to Olympic National Park and hiked Hurricane Hill and Sol Duc Falls. Both with gorgeous views! Just be prepared for a ton of driving!!!
This place was perfect and we all wished we could stay here a lot longer than 5 nights! Darcy was quick to respond to my texts. We are hoping to come back in a couple years!
