Overview

About the property

5 Luxury-Appointed Bedrooms & 6 Bathrooms In Beautiful Secluded Countryside

Set in a beautiful, isolated site in the middle of the French countryside, Le Tournié consists of two renovated 18th century buildings and a lap pool set on 20 acres of landscaped gardens. Both buildings and use of the entire property are included in the quoted price.

The Barn

This central facility is a recently converted 4,500 square foot 18th century stone barn that houses three guest bedrooms, a gym, sauna, meeting room, break-out area and dining facilities. The master bedroom is on two stories with a private library and large bathroom. There are two guest bedrooms with two twin beds in each (these beds can be configured to be one queen bed per room if desired), as well as en-suite bathrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with flat-screen televisions, WiFi and luxurious 600 thread-count Egyptian linens.

The Farm House

This adjoining 2,000 square foot renovated farm house contains a large master bedroom with private bathroom and studio built around the home's original stone oven. The bedroom has a private entrance and small terrace garden. There is also a smaller but charming guest bedroom. As in the barn, these bedrooms are equipped with flat screen televisions, WiFi and luxury linens.

The Area

Le Tournié is located in the delightful hamlet of Monbalen, near Laroque-Timbaut in the Lot-et-Garonne department of France. Traversed by the two rivers from which it takes its name, the Lot-et Garonne is a leading destination for nature-oriented holidays and yet it is one of France's best-kept secrets. There are some 200km of navigable waterways, an astounding 3,500km of walking trails, quiet roads through fields of sunflowers, traditional market towns, small picturesque villages and orchards - typically of plum trees grown for the delicious pruneaux d'Agen, a local specialty. In the immediate vicinity, you will also find spectacular biking trails, an 18-hole golf course and a number of Michelin-star restaurants.

The Le Tournié Vacation

The facilities at Le Tournié appeal to those who are looking for a peaceful retreat in beautiful natural surroundings while enjoying luxurious contemporary accommodations. It is the perfect setting for a vacation. If you wish, our concierge Frank can help you design your stay around a variety of active themes such as culinary instruction, body sculpture, weight loss, yoga instruction, local bicycle touring. Let us know and we can custom design the experience of your dreams.

The Le Tournié Business Retreat

Le Tournié is equally suited to business retreats as it is to vacations. The facility director is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is responsible for ensuring a perfect sojourn and successful meeting. A large, well-appointed meeting room that accommodates 15-20 people serves as the principal conference venue. The room is equipped with state-of-the-art IT equipment, including computer projector and audio. Great attention has been given to furnishing this room with comfortable, contemporary furnishings and all of the seating and tables can be configured to your specific needs. WiFi is available throughout the facilities. In addition, there are large communal areas for relaxation and breakout sessions. Meals can be prepared on-site by renowned local chefs serving Southwest France's famous cuisine - the chefs are also available for short cooking classes on the property. Many of the ingredients are from the property's extensive gardens. Weather-permitting, lunches and dinners can be served in one of a number of garden and pool terraces. We have a consulting sommelier available for wine tasting events on request. And of course we will work closely with you on the design of an appropriate menu for the entire period of your visit. We are able to organize a variety of special activities that can enhance the business retreat experience, including but not limited to a daily personal trainer, yoga sessions, or personal massage and body rejuvenation services.

Fantastic French Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This is a stunning estate. From the vineyard views to the historic stone walls, le Tournié delivered. While the classic French exterior takes your breath away, the modernized interior is stunning and allowed us to relax and enjoy every comfort imaginable. Peaceful rejuvenation in the the sauna, weight room or pool, or our favorite was taking a lovely walk past the fruit orchards and lovely farm houses on a path just steps from property. But I really loved the kitchen. It's not common to find every conceivable appliance, dish and food prep tool at your disposal in a rental. No need to bring anything extra in the kitchen or for the plentiful bathrooms, which had big comfy towels and bathrobes. We can't wait go back.

Spectacular, comfortable, well-kept estate

  • 5 of 5

Le Tournié absolutely blew me away. The property is incredibly atmospheric, with gorgeous old buildings that have been made over beautifully, a fantastic pool, a well-kept lawn that slopes down toward forest, and impressive views across the valley. The interior of the main building is tasteful and modern, with a first-rate kitchen and a large, light-filled central space that's perfect for entertaining. I really enjoyed my stay, and I definitely hope to spend more time there in the future.

Modern art inside old walls

  • 5 of 5

I stayed with 2 colleagues for a weekend following a conference nearby. We mainly gathered in and around the open kitchen space in the main building preparing meals, enjoying food and wine, and talking work, for hours. This estate just has the right mix of old and modern architecture so you find special places in and around the buildings to rest and watch but also gives the space for conversations and work, like that ginormous kitchen island to stand and sit around or a very stylish fire place. A wonderful venue for such a work retreat and this is exactly the purpose for which we will come back. The main building houses 5-6 people, the smaller farm house 2-3 very comfortable. The main kitchen and living areas actually give enough space for a feast and party with the whole office. We also biked the Buzet wine region one day (about 15 min by car), took wine home, and got the proper dish going with that at the market in nearby Agen. Facilities are top quality but we enjoyed mostly the modern artsy atmosphere in such old walls.

A Must Stay

  • 5 of 5

If you are even thinking about visiting La Tournie you should do it. It will exceed what you expect, I promise. If you like nice things, if you like privacy, if you have great taste you will love staying here. The kitchen is amazing -- and I cannot even find words to express my love of the coffee maker! WOW! La Tournie is a true treat -- and a perfect place to hold small meetings or working groups or a get away. OH -- and the pool! You really have to do this!

A wonderful work retreat

  • 5 of 5

Colleagues and I rented Le Tournie for a work retreat in the summer of 2013. It is a wonderful place. Each building provides many places to relax and to work. The pool was a particular highlight, as was the surrounding countryside. It's wonderful both for sightseeing and for long walks.

This property is such a great mix of modern and charming. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Summer at Le Tournie

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Le Tournie in July of 2013. This is simply a spectacular estate. Nothing in het area compares. The pictures do not do it justice. The house is as high tech modern as anything you would see in London. If you are into cooking, there is a restaurant quality gourmet kitchen. If not, there are numerous high end restaurants in easy driving distance. The town of Laroque-Timbault is only 2 miles away, and has a Whole Food's quality grocery story. The local estate manager is knowledgeable about the area, and is happy to make recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants. The price is a steal, and probably won't remain at this bargain level for long.
