Garden cottage w/ 2 kayaks/gear/dock/parking access on Stonington Harbor nearby!

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,000 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Sweet Pea Cottage is an affordable and charming 2+ bedroom cottage located just a few minutes walk to downtown Stonington & harbor. It comes with the use of two kayaks and gear located on the dock of our other cottage right on Stonington Harbor, about a 10-15 minute walk away, or few minutes drive (vrbo 30315) - including a parking spot. It is just down the street from the popular Friday market. The cottage is warm and charming, decorated in a cozy-cottage style with simple antiques and collectibles - very clean, well supplied, fully maintained and surrounded by gardens and mossy-floored woodlands. Laundry room, workshop, cable tv, internet, outdoor seating, gardens, fire pit, gas grill, picnic table and tiny spring creek, too. Guest feedback has been excellent. While not possessing a direct ocean view, a small path up behind the cottage leads to a hill top which has distant views out of Stonington Harbor, out beyond Isle au Haut, and over to the hills of Camden. It is only a 5 minute drive to nearby Sand Beach. With so much public oceanfront and wide-ranging activities nearby, Sweet Pea Cottage provides a very affordable way to enjoy the amenities of Deer Isle and Stonington, but at one of the most affordable area rentals!

About Barbara Wescott

Although I now reside in Florida, my family is from this region. We bought this home to spend more time in the area.

Barbara Wescott purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Barbara Wescott chose Acadia

We own another house right on the harbor (vrbo/30315) that we rent out, but we wanted another, more affordable home to be able to stay more often. However, work is keeping us away, so now we rent out this home, too!

What makes this cottage unique

While not a fancy place, we really have fixed this place up cute...and it is in a nice and convenient setting, too. It's just a quick walk in to town or the Friday market, and a short path leads to a hilltop with outstanding views across the waters and out to Isle au Haut and the Hills of Camden. Sweet Pea is a great deal, likely you won't find anything of better value!

Sweet Pea Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable small cottage. Owner was very helpful answering questions. Good value for the money in a quiet neighborhood. It was nice to be able to take our dog with us. We made sure we vacuumed and picked up after her when we were getting ready to leave. The owner was very prompt returning our deposit. Would try to rent the property again if we were returning to stay in the area.

Very cozy, quaint cottage close to the harbour

  • 5 of 5

Very cozy, quaint cottage close to the harbour. We had an awesome time with our yorkies. Stonington is beautiful. Bar harbor and Acadia are only an hour and a half away. Owner was very pleasant and easy to work with and she answered all questions quickly. We hope to go back again soon!

Quaint cottage

  • 4 of 5

Cottage walking distance from town and only short drives to beach area and store. Cottage had everything we needed for our week-long stay. Truly enjoyed the off the beaten path route, yet close enough for day trips to the main tourist attractions. Oh, the Stonington village has great shops and the store has a VERY GOOD pizza.

Cozy cottage indeed!

  • 5 of 5

This charming cozy cottage was just what we needed: clean, practical, well equipped with the basics, no luxury. Right up the hill from the harbor it was well located. WE loved having the kayaks and managed to used them most days, except when we went sailing or hiking. We had a great time. Barbara was readily available, even if out of town, extremely helpful even with details before our trip. Our stay was very relaxing, we would love to go back and stay at this cottage again.

Charming country cottage

  • 4 of 5

We vacationed in Maine in Sept., still beautiful weather. Our stay at Sweet Pea Cottage was very comfortable and it was very clean. It had everything we need for the week, including linens and washer and dryer. The owner is accessible to any concerns and very accommodating. The cottage is located close to the village proper, but gives you privacy and only a short drive to the scenic harbor, shops, and restaurants. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and rates are very reasonable.

Cozy vintage cottage

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed staying in this cozy cottage, just a stone's throw from "downtown" Stonington and the harbor. It's in a quiet neighborhood, as well as just a short drive to the many preserves in the area. We found it very comfy, clean and welcoming, with efficient appliances. It stays snug even if the wind blows! There are darling vintage touches throughout.

Barbara was wonderful to deal with and very accommodating; she gave very thorough information about the house and area.

We had a peaceful, refreshing getaway here and hated to leave.

A really sweet house in a more modest, yet very safe working class neighborhood. Wooded on two sides of home, w/ only a neighbor to one side, and another kitty-cornered across the street. There is a very old and horrible street view from Google....that does not in any way reflect how the street looks. Just a darn bad, inaccurate image. Plenty of pictures of the street to show upon request.
