Location Location Location
Our family of three spent 6 nights here in July 2017. It really is all about the location! Valerie was easy to work with and eager to assist us in making sure everything was in order. Within a three block area of the apartment there is a grocery store, multiple cafes, a cheese shop, fruit and vegetable stands, a subway station with excellent public transportation, and a bakery with the best chocolate croissants and baguettes.
The apartment is accurately represented in the pictures. The views from the apartment are lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and fell in love with Paris.
Location, Location, Location
My wife and I lived in Paris for many years. Returning after several years, we were looking for an apartment in a residential area not far from a major shopping/ tourist area. We found it. 72 Rue de Sevres is located on a stretch with numerous small food/bakery shops. It is also only a ten minute stroll from the Sevres/Babylon shopping area (Bon Marche department store) and the many small Left Bank boutique shops leading to St. Germains des Pres.
The apartment is comfortable and large by Paris standards. The kitchen is fully equipped. We had some problems with the Wi-Fi connection, particularly the fact it doesn't cover the master bedroom. Valerie plans to remedy this deficiency. The second bedroom is fine for children or a single adult but would try an adult couple.
Valerie is delightful. She was there to greet us and responded to all our questions quickly. We wish her well.
Great Location and Perfect Apartment for your Paris stay
My parents and I stayed here for 2+ weeks in May 2016 and had a great time. The location cannot be beat-- you are close to Metro, grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, etc. and it's a lovely residential area. Not heavily touristy.
The apartment is easily accessible with a lift and has great light and space. The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and the other room has a large twin (was bigger than a US twin, but not a double?) Two bathrooms, which is REALLY helpful for multiple people getting ready.
The kitchen is a typical European galley kitchen with a full fridge, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Not really big enough for multiple people to cook at once, but there are so many great restaurants around so you don't need to cook!
The apartment is minimally furnished but comfortable. We spent many evenings just having a cheese plate for dinner that we picked up at the local fromagerie since we had been out exploring all day. The windows open for a lovely cross breeze.
Valerie was there to greet us and was readily available for any questions we had. It was an AMAZING stay and I would stay here again for a Paris trip! Thanks Valerie
Beautiful property - significantly needs oversight - many ammenities not working
This was a beautiful apartment to walk into. There was plenty of room for the three of us, which I inquired in advance because I was bringing my older mother to Paris and we needed a place to relax between excursions in addition to just sleep at night.
The owner did not contact us with the address until 24 hours prior to arrival. (Very stressful to think you've fully paid for a Paris apt and need to find another hotel!) Then her housekeeper let us in two hours after arrival at the apartment. The apartment was clean but contained no extra sheets or towels, so to sleep on the couch we arranged scarves we were traveling with. Both showers were broken so getting wet or clean became a chore. The phone (I was to contact the owner with any problems on my own cell dollars) was broken, the hairdryer was broken, lightbulbs were burned out, and to add insult to injury the elevator was broken. The three of us (48, 59, & 72) had to walk up 7 flights of stairs every time we came home! Street noise at night was VERY LOUD.
Many of these details could be managed with a property manager but none was available to help us as the owner was away for weeks on holiday. I would not recommend this property to anyone.
I am really desapointed that so many things went wrong and that your experience in my appartment was not as comfortable and nice as for all the previous guests I welcomed.
It is true it started badly as I took too much time to get in contact with you, I was on vacation myself and lost a little connection with the days. I really apologize for the stress I caused. When I understood that you sister's arrival was two hours earlier than yours, I sent her a message to help her organizing the waiting time as the welcomer could not come twice in the same afternoon...
Of course when I came back I rushed to the appartment to check everything you said. I have changed the flexibles of the two showers, which had been terribly twisted. The hair dryer is working but if you plug it on the socket whith is connected to the small lights of the bathroom, these must be switched on. I will write that down in the instructions. Concerning the phones, the one in the living room is not working I will have it fixed next week as I do not understand why it is so,, but when I tried the second phone close to the main room, this one was working. I hope you have tried that one.
Last thing concerning my actions, I thought that two of the three of you would sleep in the king size bed, this is why a third bed has not be prepaired. Sorry for that.
It is true that this acumulation of inconveniences is regrettable.
Of course, the elevator was the last worse thing that could happen. I hope it had been repaired quickly. The most important is that, despite of all that, you still had a good time in Paris which I really hope.
Thank you very much for having written this review,
Very best regards
Ideal property for a summer visit to Paris
This was an ideal apartment for a visit to Paris in the summertime. It's spacious and bright, with modern furnishings and amenities. The photos are accurate but almost don't do it justice. The apartment is conveniently located between two Metro stops (Duroc and Vaneau), and just a few steps from the boulangerie where we bought our morning baguettes and pastries, as well as multiple cafes, restaurants, and shops. A larger grocery store (Carrefour) is a quick walk away, as is the frozen food store Picard (for those who miss their American ice cubes!) For more exotic fare, the gourmet store La Grande Epicerie is also quite close. We especially enjoyed meals at Chez Germaine, just around the corner.
There's a big building visible from the front windows that we later learned was the Tour Montparnasse, an easy walk from the apartment, which offers spectacular views of Paris, especially at night, without the crowds of the Eiffel Tower -- and with views of the Eiffel Tower. The back window of the apartment itself provides a beautiful view of Les Invalides and the top of the Eiffel Tower.
We visited Paris just after the heat wave but during a fairly warm week. The apartment is well ventilated with huge floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, so the heat was not much of a problem. I would note, however, that those who are sensitive to street noise should take that into account with this property, as Rue de Sevres is a busy noisy street, with traffic, motor scooters, street cleaners, trash collectors, and late-night partiers quite audible from the 8th floor when the windows were open. It was not a big problem for us (the back bedroom is much quieter), but those who require more quiet at night might want to keep that in mind.
With that said, we would return to this property the next time we're in Paris, and would highly recommend it to friends or relatives.
Classic Left Bank
The apartment is nicely decorated, full of light, well-stocked, fully-equipped, clean and ideally located. Many major sightseeing attractions--including Eiffel Tower--are within walking distance or a short metro ride. Two metro stations are five minutes' walk from the apartment and a third is only slightly farther.
Boulangeries/patisseries, produce markets, cheese shops, chocolate shops and even a Carrefour grocery store that's open late and on Sundays are steps from the apartment. The street also has several top-quality restaurants and a wine shop. Bon Marche is just two blocks away.
Street views from the front windows are classic Paris. The back window frames a stunning view of Invalides' shimmering golden dome, with Sacre Coeur visible in the distance. It's a full-immersion Left Bank experience.
Valerie is helpful and responsive. She met us on our arrival and explained the kitchen appliances, bathroom workings etc. She also gave us good restaurant recommendations and booked a taxi for our return trip to the airport.
We'll stay there again next time we visit Paris
