Morgan Street Homestead

Located in the heart of Marquette. The home is close to Northern Michigan University, Marquette General Hospital, various events and activities. Across the street is Harlow Park, home to the American Legion Post #44 memorial along with assorted playground equipment, large open area and a basketball court. Across from the park is the new Marquette Food Co-op which will accommodate your grocery and deli needs.

The home is within walking distance to many activities and attractions. Mattson Park is located on Lake Superior, east of the home. Most festivals and events take place at Mattson Park, it’s much easier to walk from the house than to try to find parking at an event. Also within walking distance are various restaurants and bars.

Marquette is well known for their hiking and bike paths, access to the bike path is just south of the home across Washington Street.

Marquette has a 'Fit Strip' which is just north of the house. This includes a cross country ski trail, no need to drive, just grab your skis and walk one block north.

The home has three bedrooms, one and one-half bath, remodeled in 2012. Included in the remodel was the kitchen, appliances, insulation, painting, refinished hardwood floors, tile bathrooms, installed an additional half bath with a washer and dryer.

The front of the home has a beautiful large screened in porch that faces Harlow Park. Great place to enjoy your morning coffee, relax in the evenings after a full day enjoying the Upper Peninsula. To the north of the home is a small one bedroom apartment.

We also have a VRBO 1 bedroom rental, It's located north of this unit and attached by a separate hallway. It was completely renovated as of July 2015, the VRBO number is 721606. It's a great unit by itself and would work out well if you have additional family or friends who would like to have their own space but still be close by.

About Barb O'Neill

We are Marquette natives we lived away while my husband was in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era, stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk. My husband is a retired carpenter and I retired from the City of Marquette along with owning my own business (Embroidery Wearhouse.) We are the proud parents of three daughters and two granddaughters. Our plan is to travel to Europe and here in the US.

Why Barb O'Neill chose Upper Peninsula

This home previously belonged to our grandparents. The home has been in the family since 1923. We purchased it in 1989 and lived in it while we built our house. Central location is convenient yet offers privacy within the City of Marquette. We generally walk to restaurants, bars, the Food Co-op, Lake Superior and Mattson Park. Mattson Park is where most of the festivals are held, it's easier to walk from the house then try to find a parking spot. Park Cemetery is located just to the north of the home, access is available straight up the hill, past the American Legion. This is a cemetery but it's also a park. Beautiful trees, ponds, ski trail and monuments, it's a peaceful place to take a walk, or a bike ride.

What makes this house unique

The convenient location, history, original hardwood floors and rounded archways and the front screen porch are my favorite place to enjoy a cup of coffee and the view.

Great house!!!

Had a great time at this house. The central location was great as we mountain biked from several trailheads that were only minutes away. House was in excellent condition with everything you need. Close to downtown and campus. 👍�

Lovely

This is a lovely house equipped with absolutely everything anyone would need. Comfortable, cozy, relaxing. Close to great shopping and parks along the lake. If you are looking to see some wild life (deer, moose), those are close too. We had a great time.

Our Family Voted This The Best VRBO place in Marquette!

This is my daughters Junior year at NMU so we finally feel like we know the area very thoroughly! We have stayed at numerous VRBO's in the area between downtown and campus. All of them are nice but we felt this one was the best. It has a great screened front porch with seating for 4 or more (that looks out over a park/playground). It has great living spaces inside that aren't too cut up. This made a great space for my daughter to invite a few of her friends over, enjoy a home cooked meal, play cards, and hang out! We will be back!

Nice house with perfect location

We enjoyed our stay last weekend. We have two kids and the park across the street was perfect. Downtown and all the shops are within walking distance. We especially took advantage of the Marquette Co-Op just a block away! The house is very well stocked and we were able to find everything we needed for our stay. We hope to be back again!

Convenient central location. Within walking distance to many activities, across the street is beautiful Harlow Park and the Marquette Food Co-op for all of your grocery needs! Lake Superior and Mattson Park (festivals are held here) and all it has to offer is also within walking distance.

Morgan Street units (we have two VRBO's on Morgan St.) are one of very few rentals where you don't necessarily require a vehicle. The home is within walking distance to groceries, downtown, shopping, restaurants and Lake Superior.

Marquette is known for their great biking & hiking trails, a bike path to connect is across the street, south of the house. And, you can store your bikes in the front porch!
