About Ron Weade

Moved to Asheville to enjoy the views, outdoor activities(kayaking, golf, hiking, fishing, and biking), arts, restaurants, and all that that downtown has to offer. Also wanted to live somewhere that had 4 seasons. Asheville has the BEST weather for each of the 4 seasons in the country!!The home I was looking for had to have a year around mountain view and yet be close to the city. After 5 years of looking I found the perfect place! Actually purchased 2 properties next to each other so no one could ever infringe on my privacy. I live in the one and turned the house next to mine into a vacation rental. Although I'm within walking distance of downtown the property has the feel of being 100 miles from any neighbor....

Ron Weade purchased this house in 2013

Why Ron Weade chose Asheville

The home I was looking for had to be on a mountain have year round views. It also needed to be within 20 minutes drive of Asheville...I surprisingly I ended up on top of a mountain within one mile of downtown. All the contractors that worked on my home said I have the best views of any home in NC! I see black bear, red fox, and wild turkey on regular basis around my home. I have a city street to my house....a pond with Koi fish and a waterfall in my back yard. I can see for 60 miles west and 30 miles east. I see the sun rise in the morning and just turn around and watch it set in the west. I'm an $8 cab drive from downtown or a 15 minute walk. It's only 1 mile to the hospital.

What makes this house unique

All the different contractors that worked on my home say there is no other home with as good a view in this part of NC!! Yet I'm only a 15 minute walk or $8 cab ride to downtown! I have 3 VERY private acres with lots of fox...yet I'm basically downtown.

Wonderful Property Well Represented by Photos and Owner

  • 5 of 5

We spent a few nights here in early May 2017. It's a wonderful location just up the hill from downtown with spectacular views of Asheville and the mountains, just as Ron describes in the listing.

The house had everything we needed - full size refrigerator, all kitchen appliances you could need, linens and towels, hairdryer, washer/dryer, iron, plus extra towels for the 2 person hot tub.

As noted in the description and other reviews, the walk down to the cabin from your parking spot has no railing and is not just a few steps, so keep this in mind if you have mobility issues.

Ron was a wonderful host - we saw him when we arrived and he helped us bring some bags down, showed us around, and provided a ton of recommendations for restaurants, bars, music, and other things in and around Asheville.

We'll likely stay here again when we visit Asheville, as it really was a perfect location - not in the heart of downtown, but close enough to still make it very convenient with the added benefit of less noise and amazing views.

5min from downtown but feels like the middle of nowhere.

A wonderful hideaway of a home just outside of downtown but truly feels like you're secluded. Great views, lovely amenities, and the owner goes above and beyond.

Amazing place to stay for couples

Celebrated a wedding anniversary here. Very private. Great views. Short drive to restaurants and attractions. For the money a way better place to stay than downtown hotels. You'll love it. Book it if you can.
