We live in Northern Virginia and love the outdoors. We also own a mountaintop lodge called 'Mighty Wind Lodge' in Mathias, WV. We treat all of our guests as we do our own close friends and work very hard to ensure that you have a great time!
Linda Cunningham purchased this house in 2007
We love that the home is solid brick not cheap pre-fab construction like so many homes. We also love that it is located on a quiet cove, perfect for watching the abundance of beautiful wildlife -- the ospreys nest, the herons feast, and ducklings cross with their mama.
The private, gated courtyard is like none that we have ever seen in the Northern Neck and expansive water views from every wing of the home is just amazing!
We returned home yesterday, all of us exhausted. Lets just say that while inside - no one was ready to leave, but doing outside activities - the heat was too much for some. Our group ranged from mid 50's to late 60's and I think we chose the hottest time of the year.
The water views from both inside and out were fantastic but the jelly fish prevented us from attempting to float or swim.
We all enjoyed the trip to Tangier Island and marveled at their way of life which we enjoyed from our bikes (we arrived early and our bikes were quickly boarded) and golf carts rented on the island. Suggestion, Sunday is not the best day to visit the island as a lot of shops and restaurants were closed). We visited KC Crab and Cue - where the guys had a great time playing pool and the girls got away to do some local shopping and visit the Dog and Oyster Winery where we had a fantastic personal tasting. We walked Hughllet Point Preserve until it got tooooo hot and it looked like the tide was coming in. We had a fantastic meal at Merrior's Restaurant, outoors!! (beautiful waterfront setting) We saw Reedsville from the car and were given more information while on the ferry boat to Tangier. Loved how the Caption on the boat had a sense of humor and played the music from the Titantic Theme song "My Heart Will Go On" at "appropriate" times on this trip :) Lunch at the Crazy Crab, right on the water in Reedsville served a really good meal.
Your place was beautiful, comfortable and we all enjoyed ourselves. Thanks again for sharing your vacation home!!
My extended family vacationed for a week at the Cunningham's lovely home. We enjoyed the beautiful view, and brought our boat for exploring the river. We had a fire in the fire pit one evening and enjoyed the deck and the dock all week. We had no luck with fishing and caught only a few small crabs off the dock. But we purchased wonderful steamed crabs from Cockrell's Creek and had a great feast. We had a fun dinner out at the Crazy Crab, and a lovely dinner at Tommy's. Linda was very accommodating and helpful throughout the week. We would like to come again one day.
A very nice property situated in a perfect location. Water view is fantastic. The house is equipped with a lot of upscale yet comfortable furnitures. We used the poker table and kayak that came with the property. Everyone had a great time. Will stay it again next time we come to Reedvile. Highly recommend it!
Our group ranged from 75 yr olds to 5 yr old. This house was accommodating to everyone. Good amenities, cozy, perfect location and property. Fishing and crabbing was fun for many hours for little one and grandpa. Easy to get to restaurants and beach for swimming.
Linda was so accommodating. The home and property were stunning and clean. It was a huge pleasure to stay with them. There were so many things to do and everything we could have wanted was right there at our fingertips! I hope to be able to stay here again. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
This house is really fantastic! Linda has excellent communication and was available for all last minute questions. The house is well equipped and exactly as described. We had 3 couples and everyone was comfortable in the house as it had enough room for everyone to have some private time. The outdoor fire pit and grill were lovely and the kayaking was so much fun!!! A beautiful new patio set arrived during our stay as well, allowing our entire party to enjoy dinner on the deck! = ) The beds and pillows are also very comfortable! The property and surrounding towns are very quiet and peaceful, nice for a relaxing low key getaway.
Shoppers will enjoy the boutiques in Burgess, just 2 miles from the property (Plum Summer, Burgess House, and Wildest Dreams). Venture a little further on Highway 200 and wineries galore await and world-class golf courses!
