Recently updated with new carpet, paint, modernized full bath and spa shower added to master bedroom bathroom. This single family home features a unique floor plan, with 3 separate entrances. The front entrance opens into core of the home, the living room, dining room, family room. The side entrance (off double driveway) opens into the utility room with washer/dryer, thru to the kitchen, with the bathroom/shower opening into the Master bedroom. This Master bedroom/bath combination, (located on the west side of the home), can be private, with locking doors to the bath and hallway leading to the Living room. The third entrance (backyard) opens in to an atrium-style family room with skylights, ceiling fan, large woodburner then continues into the main core. The 2nd and 3rd Bedrooms are located on the East side of the home with the Full Bathroom across the hallway. The Kitchen is located between the dining room and utility room, in the middle of the house. The appliances consist of a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, washer/gas dryer. So, if you have a very 'large' group, you would be right next door to each other. Plus we own the corner lot, Berger and Burdette, with plenty of parking available.

Year Purchased: 1978

About the owner: I am a Marine, that somehow, ended up at Notre Dame. For 17 years, I ran and taught in the Engineering Machine Shop. During that time, I started my own shop, Ron's Machine Shop. The 'Grey House' was built in 1978-79 to, among other things, give me shelter, a place to lay my head (other than a workbench), eat, shower, all the while still working/teaching at ND. And thus, I began the 30+ year journey of owning/running the 80'x26' shop behind it. In 1988, I acquired the first industrial/manufacturing re-zoning in a residential neighborhood, so close to Notre Dame. No easy feat, I may say. It's a good thing they abolished the 'burning at the stake' clause. Last year, after a good run, we closed the shop. We just re-zoned back to residential and I will probably continue to fiddle around a bit, I know my wife will, the 'Honey to do list', seems to grow everyday. So,for now, I am going to concentrate on my personal life, creating 'unique' inventions and giving back to our neighborhood community. OBTW, did I mention that 'Joey' lived with me for awhile back in the day? I even had the privilege of taking care of his dog. I think the dog was easier to watch. No offense Joe! This house is 15' east of our 'Big House' #594456, and we would love to be able to provide a wonderful 'ND' experience for our guest.

Why the Owner Chose South Bend, IN, USA:
We recently sold our boat in Florida, came back and found that the 'Grey House' tenants, had violated their lease. We decided, then and there, that we would not go through that anguish again. So, we rolled up our sleeves, broke out the paint, buckets, mops, sponges, and went to work. It didn't take long, with a little elbow grease and TLC, to bring her back. We heard about VRBO from a guest that was staying in a home, only one home, East, separated our properties. She said 'you will have no problem renting your homes, they are in a perfect place and very, very nice'. So here, we are.

The fly-overs shake the ground, The roar of the crowd can be heard before it even hits the airwaves. Come join us and be a part of our 'pot of gold' at the end of the rainbow. You won't be disappointed. We, recently, 2/2015, started our own Neighborhood Watch program. Partnering with our neighbors, the University of Notre Dame, Highline US(Overlook (graduate housing), Irish Row, and Irish Flats), and St. Joseph County, to preserve and add to the allure of our uniquely "hidden" treasure that is Morningside/Pedestrian Addition.
