About Matthew White

We are a family of four currently residing in the Annapolis Valley. I am a crane operator and my wife is a nurse and we have two children.

Matthew White purchased this house in 2013

Why Matthew White chose Glen Margaret

This property was passed down to me by my father who is a lobster fisherman in the cove. I built this home for my family in 2013 to enjoy but because I work away we are not able to enjoy it as much as we would like. So I thought that other people should enjoy this small piece of heaven.

What makes this house unique

This home is special because it is located on a peninsula. There are sheltered coves in the front and back of the house giving it amazing ocean views.

Great place to stay central to everything

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property for 5 nights in August 2016 and it could not have been better. A beautiful setting and wonderful people, including the owner's parents who live next door. The pictures show an accurate description of the home but it is even nicer than the photos. If you are in need of a rental in the area, you cannot go wrong with this one.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 5 days, and the property is wonderful! Great setting, with water in the front and the back, well-set up house, with everything you need, tranquil setting, just 10 minutes from Peggy's Cove, one of the landmarks in the Halifax area. Halifax is about 30 minutes away (by car) but reasonably easy to get to....We were a large group (6), with a combination of seniors, teenagers and adults... the property was perfect for us all, with 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms.... Matt was a wonderful host, and his parents live just next door for any immediate questions and help.. They were all great! We would happily stay here again if we come back to Halifax (and we certainly intend to!) We would also recommend this property to our friends or family coming to Nova Scotia... We felt welcomed, and at home.....Thanks for everything. Matt!

Lovely setting, wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

The house is in a stunning setting and has everything you could want for a family holiday. With water in the front and in the back of the house, it is idyllic and well worth spending some time just soaking in the peace and quiet. The house is very easy to get to and off the main road and set back from it's smaller road which makes it really tranquil. We regularly saw neighbours out walking and they were incredibly friendly. Matthew's parents, who live next door, were absolutely great and helped us find a babysitter for 3 nights of our stay. There are a few unfinished bits in the basement (the stairs could use a banister), but it was no big deal as long as the kids were hemmed in by the sofas. Having the basement play area was really great for our young boys and I would definitely stay again if we manage to get back to this little spot of heaven in Nova Scotia!

Truly a lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had no idea what to expect and our stay here was perfect. We are in the hospitality business and we say it's better to under promise and over deliver. Not that they under promised but it was hard to envision how lovely this place would be. Centrally located to Halifax and Peggy's cove was perfect. Close drive to action, this house is on a quiet and tranquil street with the bay right across the street. The house is beautifully decorated with lots of wood and very comfortable. The type of floor joists used upstairs make it a bit noisy between the top floor where the master bedroom is located and the main floor. However, when vacationing all together privacy isn't as big of a deal and did not bother us at all. While staying here you have to eat at Ryer's Lobsters. Have them cook 'em up and bring them the 5 minutes back to the house, melt some butter and be ready for an amazing dinner. Another must eat place close to the house would be Rhubarb. Fabulous fresh food at very reasonable prices. After a couple of bad experience else where, we ended up trying breakfast, lunch and dinner and all were superb. What else can be said, 5 Stars for a fabulous stay that surpassed our expectations! You will need to have your own transportation.

Best part of my Maritime Adventure

  • 5 of 5

This is a new home overlooking a protected cove in the front and the back. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Paddling around in the cove was the wonderful. The water was like glass in the morning and evening. It bacame winding around noon and that created more chop on the water.

The view is fantastic and the sunset is breathtaking. It was gnerally very quiet as the house is several hundred metres from the main road. There are several lobster fishing boats moored in the cove. Too bad lobster fishing was closed this time of the year. I enjoyed learning about lobster fishing and life in the Maritimes.

We enjoyed eating at the Finer Diner. Food was OK but desserts were fantastic. Definetly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Everything was modern, spacious and very comfortable. Owner's parents live next door and were very helpful if we needed anything. The house could use a few hooks in the bathroom to hang up towels. I'm sure that will be resolved soon.
