Casa Amarilla
The experience here was not like any other that we have had. Local people so friendly an accommodating! Beautiful places to see and explore! If you like nature you will love it here!! Wildlife untouched and left to live in there natural environment. Very easy to shop and use US currency. A must go an see for yourself!! Awesome time here!!!
Beautiful location on the beach.
The house was nice and had all the amenities that you would need. The pool was small but perfect for cooling off. Nice restaurants close by. Not full of tourists. Patri the owner was very friendly and helpful.
Casa Amarilla is a GREAT getaway destination!
Our first stay in Costa Rica was excellent and we truly enjoyed our stay at Casa Amarilla! It is a true beach house with the ocean just steps from the front door! It is comfortable with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, air conditioned bedrooms, stocked kitchen and comfortable sitting area. We spent most of our time outside on the patio with our coffee, meals, dipping in the pool and swimming in the super warm ocean. It is a quiet, tranquil beach and you can walk to some great little seafood restaurants. It is located in Tarcoles, which is a quaint little fishing town, and very close to many other attractions and towns. We rented a car and easily drove to Herradura, Jaco, and Hermosa several times. We made th 1.5 hour drive to Manuel Antonio too. Patri is so helpful and accomodating. She helped us book some great excursions and was very easy to get in touch with. One of the highlights was the fishing trip my husband and son took with her recommendation. The fisherman picked the guys up by boat right in front of the house and they had a very successful day... catching a 27 lb Mahi Mahi! We loved the authentic Costa Rican feel to the area and we enjoyed meeting the caretakers Jarra and Elbi. They were so sweet and we even had a meal with them the last evening. Another highlight were the friendly neighborhood dogs that visited us. My teenagers loved them! This is a great rental for anyone looking for a true tranquil Costa Rican beach experience. Great vacation!
Stress-free, beautiful, great location
We just got back from a 7 day stay at Casa Amarilla and could not have been happier with our time there. We had 6 adults - we didn't feel 'on top' of each other. The pool was amazing - right on the beach and always nice and cool after being in the hot sun. The location was great because we were looking for a quieter location. When we wanted to go to Jaco for some food and fun it was an easy 15 minute drive. Daily visits from a pair of Scarlet Macaws and great shore fishing right in front of the house was icing on the cake. We would love to go back soon!
This was the perfect place to stay!
My boyfriend and stayed in the Casa Amarilla and absolutely loved it! It has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining and living area... and the best view! Oh! Did I mention the private beach, patio table, swimming pool and beautiful palm and almond trees? The bedrooms have AC units so the night heat wasn't an issue for us. We slept in one room and put our luggage in the others. Would be perfect for 6 people though- or for a family. Very close to yummy restaurants, a fish market, and lots of activities. Jaco is only 15 minutes away and a great place to shop and eat and lay on the beach. We were so happy with this house and it's privacy. We highly recommend this house for anyone going to this area of Costa Rica. The owner, Patri was so so helpful and nice. And the 'grounds keeper' Jarra and his wife were accommodating and sweet and kept the ground swept and the pool clean.
Dirty and bug infested
We were looking forward to our stay at Casa Amarilla. However, we decided to leave within hours of our arrival, but due to the late hour, left the following day. The house itself is an older style home, which suited us perfectly. It was nicely decorated. The bugs and dirt are what drove us away! The floors were extremely dirty. The smell of Raid was overwhelming, and ants, spiders, roaches all throughout the house! Not to mention ant nests in the bottom corners of the wall/floor boards. Also, if the common areas don't have a/c, then some changes should be made to help with air flow in the house. There was no movement of air whatsoever, and because the screens were broken, we also had to close the front door so that the mosquitos would be kept out. The locks on the home made us slightly uncomfortable...bolt style locks. We were advised that the area can be sketchy, and all items should be kept out of sight...kinda common sense stuff, but the bolts added a touch of concern with the safety level of the neighborhood. The macaws in the morning were great to watch. The beach area was also very dirty...it was unclear as to whether it had washed ashore or if it was just stuff thrown away by the neighbors. There were big trash mounds on the property lines of most homes. I wish I could recommend this property, but unless some major attention to detail occurs, It's not a home away from home that I would recommend.
Patricia worked with us and seemed understanding of our concerns. She refunded us 40% of what we paid.
