Offering privacy and relaxation only 15 minutes from town, our 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin retreat is on a 10 acre forest in a lush valley surrounded by 14,000 foot mountain peaks. Our property features outdoor living space with a picnic table, a gas grill, and a fire pit surrounded by handmade Adirondack chairs for relaxing in the woods.
The towns of Alma and Fairplay are only 15 minutes away, and Breckenridge and Buena Vista (hot springs and rafting!) are 30 minutes away.
The master bedroom has a queen bed, and the 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed with a trundle to sleep 3. The cabin also has a loft with private reading area.
The kitchen is equipped with commercial grade cookware, toaster, coffee pot, blender, microwave, citrus juicer, an ice cream maker, and other home chef basics.
The living room includes a plush and cozy rug with leather sofas in front of the fireplace with a massive stone chimney. The living room also features a flat screen TV, DVD player, Wii, and WiFi internet.
Outside, you can relax on the deck seated at the bistro set while grilling at the gas, cast-iron grill or gazing at the hummingbirds. Or, you can dine at the picnic table, or roast marshmallows at the fire pit from the hand-made, red cedar Adirondack chairs.
Hike the 'Red X Trail' on the property or walk the scenic road and spot elk, foxes, or moose hanging out in the nearby lakes and ponds.
The nearby towns of Fairplay, Alma, and Buena Vista offer plenty of nightlife, festivals, art, food, and relaxation for travelers of all ages.
Fairplay: Check out Coyote Creek Gallery with world class artists who often lead classes ranging from raku pottery to alcohol ink. Just 2 miles from the cabin is the Beaver Ponds Environmental Center, hosting classes ranging from fiber arts to horticulture to alternative energy.
Alma: Head into Alma, 'the highest town in North America' and enjoy some live music with the locals at the South Park Saloon or Alma's Only Bar. Both towns boast '14-ers' mountains to climb--4 within just a 15 minute drive and you can see most of them from the Red X trail!
Buena Vista: Don't miss the gorgeous drive to Buena Vista where you can climb other 14ers, explore the Arkansas River by raft, soak in the hot springs at Mt. Princeton or Cottonwood Springs, and enjoy craft beer at Eddyline Brewery.
Breckenridge is also a short 30 minute drive over the continental divide at Hoosier Pass if you want to check out the tourist attractions there such as the Mountain Adventure Park.
