About Lama Nachman

My husband and I live in San Francisco with our 7 year old son. We have been working in high tech for the last 18 years and we absolutely love the Bay Area. Prior to coming to the bay area, we lived in Madison, WI where we both completed our graduate degrees in Computer and Electrical Engineering . When we are not working (which is rare :-)) we enjoy food, wine, travel and skiing. Our son has been skiing since he was 3 years old and we end up going to Tahoe in the winter very often.

Lama Nachman purchased this house in 2009

Why Lama Nachman chose South Lake Tahoe

We decided to buy in this area because we ski regularly in Heavenly. This ski resort is called Heavenly for a reason :-) Watching the lake as you ski down ridge or gun barrel is something I never get tired of, it is just spectacular. In addition to the skiing part, South Lake Tahoe has nice beaches and a lot of fun activities like hiking, sledding, snow mobiles, sleigh rides, and so many others.

Once we decided on South Lake Tahoe, we started looking into the different areas there. We really liked Montgomery Estates because it is a family oriented neighborhood, close to everything (4 miles from skiing, beaches, downtown) yet feels homey and protected. Once we saw the house, it was love at first sight, we immediately pictured the great vacations ahead, and it has been absolutely wonderful.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with property the minute we saw it. We went to 'just check it out' and we couldn't resist buying it. It was exactly what we were looking for in a vacation home. The open floor plan, the brightness with all the windows, the Knotty pine ceiling, the wonderful neighborhood, the trees and the proximity to Heavenly and the beach.

Given how much we love skiing, the mountains and the water, this was just perfect. We didn't have to sacrifice any of these. It felt that the house was built with so much love and in fact it was the original owner who custom built this home for his family. We also liked the fact that we can comfortably accommodate a second family to stay with us, so we can keep the kids entertained while we enjoyed a relaxing drink in the evening after a day full of activities.

Great location and great property!

  • 4 of 5

We booked this property the day before because our original trip to Yosemite got cancelled due to a fire. Lama was very responsive and was able to accommodate our last minute booking. The house was in great condition and exactly as listed. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. It was about ten minutes to Stateline where the casinos, restaurants and other activities are. Overall, we had a great stay. The only negative was the house has no air conditioning which we knew going into it. It got prettty hot in the house because we were there in late July but we just hung out on the huge deck where it was much cooler. We would definitely recommend the house and would stay there again.

Tahoe Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Great place centrally located in SLT. Owner was personal and reachable. I was impressed that the house was welcoming and cozy when we entered. House is in great shape and had all the amenities.

Home is great for families. Rooms are spacious and each have room for storage in closets/dressers if you need. Wifi was a plus.

The kids enjoyed the pool table and the little hideout room under the stairwell. Perfect for our toddler!

We would come again.

Death Ride Home Base

  • 5 of 5

House was a perfect home base for the Death Ride, aka: Tour of the California Alps, that leaves out of Markleevillle. Kingsbury Loop training ride goes right past the house. Near the rim trail system for running/hiking. Near the famous Flume trail. Just perfect. Great nearby restaurants for pasta and beer. Garage perfect for storing bikes. House perfectly appointed -- great linens, too! And: includes cable with NBC sports -- so we watched the Tour de France each night. :-)
