About The Owner

We are Marta and Matt Harrison. We love to play golf, fly-fish, and cook. There is no place that compares to Kiawah and everytime we come for a stay, it gets harder and harder to go home. One of these days, we just might not leave.

The Owner purchased this house in 2003

Why The Owner chose East Beach

We first came to Kiawah together in 2001, looking for vacation property that was within a one-day drive from our home in Chagrin Falls, OH, as we have two Wirehaired Pointing Griffons (Roxie and Lamar) who travel here with us. We fell in love with the natural beauty of the island and the town and resort's commitment to conservation. The low country of South Carolina is a very special place to us.

What makes this house unique

We have been coming to Kiawah for over 10 years and always look back on each visit wishing we had done more exploring. Charleston is only 40 minutes away, Beaufort is 90 minutes, and Savannah just a couple of hours, yet it seems we never want to leave the island because there is so much to do. Some day we are just going to have to force ourselves to do it. There is so much fun stuff down every side road, let alone the beauty and charm of the towns and cities. Now, about the food...

Amazing long weekend in charming house

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, wonderful stay in this beautiful home with our 3 grown children. It is about a 400 yard walk from beach. We have always had a strong love for Kiawah Island. The beauty there is unmatched. The house is precious, with plenty of room for us. The kitchen is great - very functional and well-stocked. Everything in the house is in good working order, and clean. We really enjoyed sitting on the large front porch and the back screened porch in the morning and evening. The owners obviously go the extra mile to make you feel like a "guest" in their home. We will definately return to Kiawah and we hope to stay in this beautiful house again!

Thanksgiving week with all the Family

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a fantastic Thanksgiving week in your Kiawah home. The weather was spectacular every day, and the golf was a highlight for my son Brad and myself. Meanwhile, all of us were so very comfortable in your spacious and welcoming home. Our son Brian and his family enjoyed the "suite" of two bedrooms side by side and the little granddaughters were thrilled with cookie decorating and Santa's visit. Our son Craig was amazed with the natural splendor of Kiawah, and is now ready for the next oyster roast at Mingo Point! My wife found your kitchen to be remarkable for family meals together. Needless to say, the beach was perfect for all of the outdoor activities, including, cartwheels, hand stands, (by the younger folks:), bike riding, and, of course, we had two entries in the sand sculpting competition. And, to top it off, our dear Daisy dog was welcome too!

Perfect Location for Family Beach Location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here a couple of times and will be returning next summer. It's a perfect place to spend time at the beach. The beach (consistently rated one of the best in the country) is a very short walk away and the pool is even closer (just around the corner). The house itself is very welcoming and has been a great place for our family which includes three young kids. We loved riding bikes and seeing so much wildlife while we were out and about (deer, alligators, all kinds of birds, crabs, etc.) I can't understate how much fun our kids have here. In addition, the owners are very user-friendly and we intend to keep coming back!

Perfect Spot for Beach & Pool Fun!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here and so did the kids, dog, and extended family. The beach and pool are close enough that you can go back and forth to the house easily, even carrying a toddler. There's a park and a nature center within biking distance, and lots to see on the way. We plan to go back!

Perfect Place for a Spending a Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our second stay to this charming house and couldn't believe it could get any better, but it did. When we approached the house two beautiful baskets of flowers were hanging from the porch. I couldn't believe that an automatic watering system could be rigged to keep these beautiful flowers in pristine condition. An American flag attached to the front porch welcomed us as we came inside and discovered plenty of new dishes and lots of additional silverware. This meant we did not have to use the dishwasher so often. Inside the house was cooler than we needed, so we actually turned the air-conditioning up. Where else can a four-generation gathering have a more perfect spot to play games than at the oversize dining table? Both the children and dog enjoyed playing on the front and back porches; it was hard to get them to come inside. A highlight was renting bikes and riding many of the 35 miles of trails. Also, we helped the Turtle Patrol direct 29 baby turtles (hatchlings) get to the ocean by forming a line with our feet. Getting to the ocean or pool was minutes away, and the owner has great information to get umbrellas, chairs, and bikes personalized for your stay. We can't wait to go again next year and hope we can repeat the turtle experience. We thank you owners for making our visit so perfect!

Perfect Spot

  • 5 of 5

Last week our family had a terrific time at this house. It enabled four generatons to have plenty of space and lots of time to play games at the large dining room table. In addition, both the pool and the beach were easy to reach. One unexpected highlight was spotting a 8-10 foot alligator in the pond behind the swimming pool. We plan to return to this same location for more fun and excitement next summer.
