About Don Rice
We live in the Texas panhandle and cherish the time we spend with family in Red River.
Don Rice purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Don Rice chose Red River
We bought this cabin after coming to Red River all of our lives. When we were young, our grandparents would always drag us around looking at cabins; however, they never bought one even though they dreamed of it. We decided in 2008 it was finally time for our family to own a little piece of paradise. After looking, we purchased this cabin because of its location...right on the river. Since then, we have made many wonderful memories here.
What makes this Cabin unique
The location is perfect...the river is right out the front door. It is located within the city limits, so we have the benefit of being in town plus the benefit of all of the wildlife coming to get a drink....it is the perfect place to waste precious time!

Very nice condo. Property manager handy!
Location was closely located to the ski resort. Enjoyed the scenery! Quiet area even if located right of highway.
Thank you!!! Anytime you want to come back you get a return guest discount :-)
We absolutely loved this cabin by the water! The sound of rushing water as you sit on the swing is amazing. The facilities were perfect and fit the bill 100%. We will definitely come again in the near future!
We enjoyed our family Christmas stay! We will work back again! Thanks!
This is a great Cabin to stay in, we did not have any problems! It was a comfortable, clean and very warm cabin to stay in! Everything we needed was in there, thank you so much! We will be back again!
Thank you and we are glad you all had a great holiday vacation. Our return guests always get a 10% discount and we look forward to having you stay with us again!
Balcony and river made this a pleasant place. Some deep cleaning is in order though.
Thank you for your input. Deep cleanings are done in November and May and I’m sorry you found the cabin to need some attention. We list the housekeeping phone number as well as the manager’s number in the welcome email as well as in the binder in the cabin and state that if you need anything at all to please let us know. We would have fixed any issues you had immediately. Our goal is for our guests to enjoy the mountains, the river and the Town while having a comfortable, home away from home. Please let us know any issues you have prior to departure so we can correct them for you.
This place was great. Whoever set it up thought of everything. We used the kitchen and didn’t need anything. Thank you.
My only suggestion is to add WiFi.
Nice place and clean
The town of Red River is a quaint little town located in the heart of the Carson National Forest. Our cabin sits right on the river where you can almost fish from the front porch or feed the ducks. At night, the sound of the river is most relaxing and wildlife is seen often. Red River boasts many activities: hiking trails, 4-wheeler trails, horseback riding, fly fishing (in the river, at numerous lakes, and at the community fishing ponds), disc golf at Mallette Park or ride the lift up to the top of the mountain where there is also a course, ride go-carts, rent mini-cars, and numerous activities for all ages in the summer every day at the Community House. Shopping is unique...everyone walks. If your timing is right (2 days a week), you will get to see an Old Time Gunfight at Frye's Old Town. There are many great restaurants ranging from steaks, burgers, Italian food, and Mexican food. There is also a grocery store in case you would like to grill out by the river. In the winter, skiing and snowboarding are always a hit. Snow mobile tours are also available. Throughout the ski season, the torchlight parade comes down the face of the mountain. The Visitors Center located on Main Street always has a list of activities in the area. So whether you're going for some serious trout fishing or just some R&R, we would love to share our cabin with you where our motto is, 'Welcome to the perfect place to waste precious time.'
