Located at the apex of Fitch Mountain this riverfront home is 2.75 miles from town and a stone's throw from the famous Russian River. There is a small front patio and two very large decks with river and tree views. The main house has a small remodeled kitchen with dining area, a nice sized living room with wood burning stove, two lovely bedrooms and one full bath with shower. The lower level is an ample sized bedroom with sitting area and a large bath again with a shower. There are decks on both levels. Stairs to the wooded garden and rocky beach. During the summer months there is a beach palapa on the beach for guests of the house outfitted with chairs and lounges.
There is central heat upstairs, and a space heater down. Dishwasher in kitchen.Bicycles available as well as kayak and canoe.
Me and my family came from Israel to attend our daughter's wedding in Healdsburg. We , six of us stayed at the house for 4 nights. The house is very welcoming. It was well equipped with everything we needed. We rented two more houses in the area. This house became the center. We only needed to purchase grocery and were able to cook a family meal. The view is gorgeous and the deck is a relaxing place to sit. Careen was very helpful in answering all our questions.
WIFI worked only near the small bedroom. There was no cellular reception in and near the house. Other than that we loved the house and our stay. We recommend this house very much.
The owners of the cottage definitely trust those who are renting. Everything that you would expect from your own home or retreat was available. All three beds were very comfortable with great pillows. Very comfortable couches and chair in the living room. Acceptable eating area in the kitchen. Since we were there in a cooler time we did not take advantage of the ample decks or access to the water. The newly installed pot belly heater was great but directions were not readily available and we finally read them off the heater on the third day. Plenty of hot water and a great shower upstairs. Could never get the oven to work. The cottage would benefit from some tree trimming as, in the Fall months, not much sun gets on the property. Cell phone coverage (AT & T) was very spotty but the Wi-Fi helps one for necessary connections. The downstairs bedroom seemed a little damp as well as the grounds around the property; perhaps this was created by the heavy rains the week before. There were plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc. Very well stocked. All in all we felt very comfortable in the cottage and appreciated the amenities provided by the owner(s).
We had a lovely stay here. Easy drive to Healdsburg but away from it all. Very quiet and comfy. The house is adorable, with everything you could possibly want. Great deck overlooking the river. We cooked dinner on the grill Saturday night and drank delicious local wines we'd discovered that day on a wine tasting mission. If you are new to the fine details of wine connoseurship be sure to start your wine tasting with the tour at Kendall-Jackson about a 15 mind rive south on Hwy 101. Will definitely come back again.
This traditional cabin was a great place to celebrate my birthday and the rooms were two up and one down (another entrance which for folks with two couples would be great) and while it had a few challenges due to other renters breaking a kayak handle and the fact that it is older, for mystique, for ambiance and for fun it covered it all!
I thoroughly enjoyed the place as did my family and looking off the deck high above, seeing the river from that vantage point was fabulous!
Thank you for sharing your home! Beautiful views and access to the river. Home was very cozy and comfortable.
Had a great experience here with friends for a long weekend. The house itself was nice, very quaint and cute with plenty of books and trinkets to explore. Bathrooms were average, showers were very small. Kitchen was fully equipped which was nice for cooking big dinners. One huge benefit of this house that I didn't see mentioned specifically in the home listing is that it backs up directly to the river with a private cabana and river access. This was great since our group wanted to spend all day in the river and hanging out in the sun. Conversely one difficulty we had (which I find all too common to rentals on these sites) was accessing the separate downstairs bedroom. But Carren was very helpful and sent over the contractor to get us in right away. All in all I'd go back again for a quiet and rejuvenating weekend in the woods!
