About Ann Willis and Fred Willis
Ann and Fred Willis have lived in the Sarah Jane Clifford House (the main house) for 20 years. The Willises renovated the existing houses on the property, which included the main house and a carriage house, and built what is now a third house, the Sarah Clifford Cottage. The Willises have been in the real estate business since 1999 through their privately owned company, and have renovated several of their properties and built a country house on an island near Charleston. The Sarah Clifford Cottage has the distinctive characteristics of a Willis renovation: modern, uncluttered, clean-lined, high quality construction and finishes, and attention to detail.

Pure Comfort & a Gem of a Home!!
I am FUSSY. This cottage was the perfect for us for so many reasons: a quiet and private location within an easy walk to almost everything in town and included parking! The interior and surrounding grounds were immaculate and the amenities top notch. The high end mattress and luxury linens gave us 7 nights of perfect sleep. The extra touches, thoughtful details and hospitality from the Owners, Ann and Fred Willis made this our best trip to Charleston ever! We will be coming back for sure!!
A rare Charleston "5 star jewel"!!!
A rare jewel was discovered during our recent visit to Charleston, SC residing in the Sarah Clifford Guest House & Cottage. We chose to stay the week in the 2 story cottage, beautifully appointed with all of the modern amenities and comforts, privately recessed off the street in a quaint, quiet residential neighborhood. Near King Street in the downtown area, the cottage is within walking distance to numerous fine & casual restaurants as well as many historic points of interest. It is also concentrically located just north of the French Quarter's bustling market with more choices in dining, shopping, & historic tours. Our hosts, Ann & Fred Willis, were gracious and helpful providing us with essential information, prior to arriving, regarding all aspects of exploring this unique city. They remained available concerning any needs or questions throughout our stay while yet being unintrusive and were extremely kind & attentive when our initial arrival time was delayed due to a rock cracking the windshield of our car in route, not to mention the follow-up repairs required. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending these vacation gems, notable in both the owners and the property!!!!! Bev & John, Clearwater, Fl
Spacious luxury in the middle of Charleston
There are not enough superlatives to describe how great our stay was. Ann and Fred are very gracious hosts and the property is one of the best VRBO places we have ever stayed. Literally everything has been thought of to make the stay comfortable and enjoyable. Clean, modern, good living spaces including a fantastic kitchen, etc.
Nicely located to walk or lyft to anywhere you want to go in Charleston. Thank you Ann and Fred!
A Perfect Place to Stay While Visiting Charleston
We'd planned a trip to Charleston last year, but it was cancelled because of Hurricane Matthew. In the category of "every cloud has a silver lining" (and those are serious clouds!), a benefit of this delay is that we didn't go to our originally booked hotel, but chose instead to stay at the gorgeous place! Situated on a quiet residential street lined with eclectic 19th century architecture, the cottage is a short walk to the great sites, restaurants (!!!), and shopping of Charleston. It is immaculate, comfortable, beautifully designed in a modern style, offers great privacy and quiet, and even has a gourmet-level kitchen equipped with excellent cookware and appliances. (We ate simple breakfasts and lunches here in and then had sensational dinners out.) There is a spaciousness to the property that makes it feel quite luxurious for two -- it's also a nice place just to hang out. Anne and Fred went out of their way to make our stay here easier, providing guidance on what to do and where to go, and could not have been nicer. They even put a delicious chocolate cake in the refrigerator for my wife's birthday, and Ann helped us get a reservation at one of the top restaurants in town! Bottom line: we have stayed at several VRBO or AirBNB properties over the years, and this one goes right to the top of the list.
This is truly a home away from home!
This property is immaculate-like we were the first ones that had ever stayed. Everything you could ever need is available. Wonderful location for shopping, eating, enjoying all that Charleston has to offer. Ann and Fred are wonderful hosts. Will look forward to a return visit!
Historic Charleston and the Volvo Tennis Open
My wife and I stayed at the Sarah Clifford Cottage during the weekend of the Volvo Tennis Open and we could not have been more pleased with our experience. This well-appointed two-story cottage with its contemporary interior was simply ideal for our stay. For those who enjoy cooking as we do, the kitchen was indeed gourmet. Likewise, the master bedroom suite was furnished with a very comfortable king bed, high quality linens, and ample storage space. Located in a quiet section of Charlotte St., the cottage is within easy walking distance of East Bay, Meeting, and King Streets. Ann and Fred were excellent hosts, responsive to our questions and offering an array of recommendations for enjoying the Charleston experience, including the Volvo Tennis Open on Daniel Island.
Ideal location for exploring downtown Charleston, the Sarah Clifford Cottage is located within easy walking distance of the vibrant Upper King Street restaurant & bar scene and lower King Street shopping area. The Farmer's Market just 2 blocks away during its seasonal run. Theater, The Gaillard Auditorium, Sottile Theatre & College of Charleston are located close by. There is a grocery store, pharmacy, dry cleaners and main library within 1 to 3 blocks of this quiet location. Nearby you will find the Charleston Aquarium, boat tours of the Charleston harbor & Ft. Sumter, the Charleston Museum, Charleston Music Hall, the Aiken-Rhett House and many other noteworthy sights to visit and see. Most events, such as the Charleston Food+Wine Festival, historic home tours, Southeastern Wildlife Expo and the Cooper River Bridge Run are located within minutes of this property.
