Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathroom, Sleeps 2-4

Our beautiful cozy guest house sits at the base of Burney Mountain on 35 acres, surrounded by additional thousands of forested acres. The guest house is the original bunk house to the ranch that has been fully refurbished into an enticingly restful upscale guest house.

Our guest house is easy to find, right off Hwy. 299 E. approximately 5 miles east of the quaint town of Burney. It is centrally located to the many attractions that have lured visitors from all over the globe for many years.

The Rock Ledge that borders the ranch extends to the beautiful Burney Falls State Park, approximately 8 miles from the ranch. It is breathtaking to view this ledge from the guest house and lends itself to beautiful nature walks. There are endless trails enjoyed both on the property and the surrounding forest that also avail themselves to mountain biking and hiking. You can also enjoy golfing at the nearby Fall River Golf Course or fishing, boating and other water sports all within close proximity to the ranch. Nearby communities offer winter sports within an hours drive, or just relax in the guest house and enjoy the views of Burney Mountain and the Rocky Ledge.

The wildlife on the ranch can be very exciting, as the majestic elk heard migrates through the ranch property throughout the year. You may enjoy other wildlife as well, such as the local deer, foxes, bobcats, etc. common to the ranch. Enjoy watching the Osprey building their nest and raising there young from early spring to late summer. Wake up to the sounds of all the local bird life that live here on Rocky Ledge Ranch and be seduced by nature.

The guest house may best be enjoyed by couples as there is one master bedroom upstairs with a queen bed along with a spacious bathroom. However, there is a queen size, comfortable couch sleeper for additional guests in your party in the downstairs living area. The main living area downstairs is anchored by a river stone hearth with a wood burning stove, perfect for chilly mountain evenings. This living area provides nice views, full amenities in the kitchen, regular dining and counter dining, granite counters, wood floors and tasteful décor throughout. Satellite TV, DVD, and Wireless Internet are provided.

The guest house is alongside the main ranch house but maintains it's own complete privacy. Daily activities on the ranch can include property maintenance and tending to farm animals but are not intrusive to your stay.

We have spacious parking for your recreational toys, so bring them along and enjoy a relaxing retreat at the Rocky Ledge Ranch Guest House.

We are a Smoke Free property.

About Ed and Lori Martinez

Originally from the Salinas Valley, we moved to Burney in 1980 and raised two children here, and have lived on the property since purchasing in 2003. We have been in a constant state of remodel and the saga continues!

Ed and Lori Martinez purchased this guest house in 2003

Why Ed and Lori Martinez chose Burney

We fell in love with the views, the privacy while yet close to town, and the potential opportunity to rehab the existing buildings.

What makes this guest house unique

We think you will love the peace and the beauty of Rocky Ledge Ranch and fall in love too!

Peaceful and beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

This property is on 30+ acres with beautiful scenery in all directions. You can sit on the back deck and watch quail families, songbirds, and deer walk through the trees and meadow. There are two adorable kitties that visit and love attention. The cottage is beautifully furnished and decorated, along with a kitchen that has everything you need. Ed and Lori are an adorable couple and have put heart and soul into making this property what it is today. We have already booked for next year.

Quiet, comfortable mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week leaving every morning for a new hike! As base, there is so much within 30-40 miles it would take a month to explore all!

We'll return!

Great stay at Rocky Ledge

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our week at Rocky Ledge. We were there for a week of hiking and riding ATVs and Rocky Ledge was the perfect place. Ed and Lori were great hosts, nonintrusive but helpful when needed. Ed explained to us how we could access the Burney Mountain area right from the rental and it was just great being able to ride the ATV's for the day right from the guest house. Ed and Lori also shared with us the location of the famous bridge from the movie "Stand by Me" and we really had fun taking pictures of us "running" from an imaginary train! The guest house was very comfortable and well appointed, perfect for our stay, close to town for supply runs but very private. Enjoyed coffee in the morning and cocktails at night on the little deck facing Burney Mountain! We would highly recommend Rocky Ledge to anyone wanting to spend time in the area.

Great Location and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I've come to Burney in the past for a guys fishing trip where we either camped or stayed in a motel. This trip my wife and I were celebrating our 35th anniversary so it had be a nice place than where I've stayed in the past. This place was perfect in every way. Close to the town of Burney to get supplies, near world renowned fly fishing trout streams, beautiful Burney Falls at McArthur-Burney State Park and less than an hours drive to Lassen National Park. The guest house is tastefully decorated in a country decor, very clean and comfortable. It has a full modern kitchen where we cooked most of the time just so we can enjoy our meals in the serenity of the back deck area. The back lawn is great to enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the scenery with the local friendly pets and wildlife. We hiked the grounds of the 35 acre ranch full of pine trees and manzanita brush. If you have a need to connect there's a big screen tv with satellite and wifi service. The main house is nearby but is situated to provide privacy to the guest house. We met the gracious owners Ed and Lori who thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The only knock I can think of is you can hear the highway from a distance but I hardly notice. I highly recommend this place.
