Wailea Ekahi 28A is a stunning, spacious, fully-renovated ground-floor two-bedroom/two-bathroom vacation condominium in the prestigious Wailea resort area on the sunny side of Maui. It’s located in one of the best locations within Ekahi Village near the front of the complex with beautiful views of the ocean and one of the pools. 28A is a spacious corner unit quietly located away from any main roads and opens to a large green space off of the two front lanais. This condo is a close three-minute walk to the beach and main pool/pavilion area and it also has immediate access to a pool and paddle courts right in front of the unit.

We completed a major designer renovation on 28A in 2015, which created a beautiful and spacious open-concept design with all the modern touches. The unit is modern and bright but with the soothing colors of the beach… perfect for a relaxing vacation retreat! The kitchen, bathrooms, all furniture, appliances, doors, patio doors, lighting, window coverings, flooring, etc. are all new. There are beautiful views of the ocean/pool throughout this unit, with the kitchen, living room, master bedroom, main lanai and master bedroom lanai all facing the water. The unit is a gorgeous blend of upscale materials and relaxing design, making it a premiere vacation rental unit in Ekahi Village.

The luxurious master bedroom features a king bed, privacy curtains, a private bathroom/walk-in shower and a private lanai facing the ocean. The second bedroom features two queen beds, privacy curtains, a private bathroom with a tub/shower combo, and a private garden lanai. The kitchen features quality stainless steel appliances, great dishes/flatware/cooking utensils, a quartz breakfast counter and a large dining table in the dining area. The living room features a large comfortable sectional sofa and chair and a fantastic entertainment system, including a 60” UHD 4K Smart TV, Apple TV, universal Blu-ray/DVD/CD player, cable TV, Netflix and Cambridge Audio stereo system. There are also UHD 4K Smart TVs with Netflix in each of the bedrooms. The main lanai features a large dining table and large Weber barbecue, while the master lanai features comfortable lounge chairs for relaxing, reading, or socializing; both lanais also have ceiling fans installed for added comfort. The unit is air-conditioned throughout, but 28A is naturally a cooler/more comfortable unit because it’s on the ground floor; we rarely use the AC ourselves and prefer the ocean breezes. A full-sized washer/dryer, two safes, and an extra-capacity hot water tank, so you’ll never run out of hot water, are also installed in the unit. For added privacy, we even installed a soundproof ceiling, making this a very quiet unit. Nothing was left untouched in this beautiful high-end renovation!

The condo is well-appointed with all the modern touches and necessary items for a relaxing holiday, including a cooler, beach towels, umbrellas, boogie boards, beach chairs, and sand and pool toys. The unit is perfect for families and couples alike, and we’re set up for kids with beach toys, a playpen that can also substitute for a crib, a high-chair and games. We also have wireless Internet and a telephone with free local and long-distance calling to the US and Canada.

Ekahi Village, known for its beautiful landscaped gardens and spacious grounds, is located on 34.5 acres of lush surroundings and includes four swimming pools, a beachfront pavilion, paddle courts, shuffleboard and direct gated access to the famously beautiful Keawakapu Beach where people of all ages swim, paddle board, boogie board, snorkel or simply enjoy the magnificent views. We love Ekahi Village for its beautifully landscaped and spacious grounds, and excellent beachfront location in sunny Wailea. All our condos are well situated within Ekahi Village, close to the beach/main pool and the many amenities the condominium complex has to offer. We particularly like 28A for its quiet location, beautiful views and gorgeous upscale renovation. Ekahi Village is located in the most preferable climate zone in Maui: the temperatures are perfect, the sun shines almost all the time, and the rainfall is minimal. Ekahi Village boasts an outstanding beachfront location with beautiful landscaped gardens on spacious 34.5 acre grounds, and the complex has excellent amenities such as four swimming pools, a beachfront pavilion, paddle courts, and direct gated access to the world-famous Keawakapu Beach. There’s easy access to Wailea, Makena, Kihei, and the airport at Kahului. As well, located just a short stroll down the beach are several excellent resorts, including the Grand Wailea, the Marriott Maui Resort & Spa, the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, the Fairmont Kea Lani Maui Resort and the Andaz, Maui. In the other direction, Kihei with its quaint restaurants and shops, a beachside yoga studio nearby, and paddle-boarding and surfing on its great beaches is also only a short walk away along the shorefront. It only takes a few minutes to get to one of several fine golf courses in the area and the nearby restaurants serve every budget and appetite. There are also a wide variety of supermarkets available, from Costco to Safeway to Whole Foods, amongst others, so you can cook in any time you like. All that doesn’t even begin to describe all of the great things you can do during the day from this outstanding South Maui location!

We just had a wonderful stay in this condo. The location was perfect, close to one of the small quiet pools, yet convenient to walk to the beach. The amenities were perfect. We have stayed in several other Ekahi units and this was by far the best. It is the first time that an owner reached out to us once we arrived to see if the unit met with our expectations - very thoughtful. Michelle and George, thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. Hope to return soon.

A little slice of heaven!

My husband and I, plus two of our sons and their partners, just returned from 10 days in Maui ... where we stayed at this lovely 2-bedroom condo. I reviewed many properties before selecting Michelle's condo and chose it based on the stunning photos and excellent reviews. We were not disappointed!! ... in fact, it surpassed our expectations. Michelle provided extensive information prior to our arrival - all very helpful. The condo has been beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated ... with soothing colours, wall-to-wall front windows (with gorgeous views), comfortable beds, and cozy/comfy furniture. The kitchen was fully stocked with glassware, dishes, pots and pans, and everything else we needed for cooking (grater, garlic press, whisk, etc.). There were many times when all 6 of us were preparing a meal together - some working in the kitchen area and others sitting on barstools at the counter. We never felt crowded! Given the hot/sunny weather we enjoyed during our stay, we all used the two lanais on a daily basis (and especially enjoyed our evening BBQ's - sitting at the outdoor table by candlelight). The other real plus to Michelle's condo is its location within Ekahi Village. It is up on a bit of hill, which provides a gorgeous view of the small pool area in front and the ocean in the distance. The gardens and trees are lovely and very well maintained. We walked down to the ocean daily and really felt that we were on one of the nicest stretches of beach that Maui has to offer. A stunning place for early morning and/or evening walks, and - of course - mid-day swimming and sunbathing. We're all hoping to return to Ekahi Village 28a someday, as it truly felt like our 'home away from home'!

Loved the location and the view, out to the ocean and overlooking the pool

The layout of the condo was great for two couples. Both Bedrooms were very spacious and the Kitchen/living room was a joy to hangout. We had great meals cooked on the cleanest BBQ we have ever seen, right on the patio. The patio area is covered, so even if the trade winds brought rain, we could still enjoy the outdoors and the adjacent open space. The kitchen was very spacious for 4 to cook and hangout on the bars stools. And we had 3 great golf course, just down the road and shopping to match.

Ekahi Unit 28A

This Ekahi unit is well appointed as it, apparently, was recently remodeled. The unit is very comfortable and the upgraded living spaces are really well done and functional. As is the case with many of the Ekahi units, you trade the unit finishes and gated beach access for a view. Due to the mature landscaping of the community, this unit does not have a view of the ocean from either lanai.

As the Ekahi community was built in the 1970's it's infrastructure has become dated. We have stayed in or viewed many of the units here over the years and in each case, the community's plumbing has been an issue. We were without the use of one of the two bathrooms for some time during our stay and while the owners were quick to respond, having three girls with us made things a little uncomfortable for these prices.

In addition, one of the community's pools, unfortunately the pool closest to this unit, was closed awaiting repairs for most of January as parts, we understand, were difficult to find and Ekahi management was relatively indifferent when we inquired.

None of these challenges should take away from this unit being one of the most comfortable in the Ekahi development and if you plan on renting there, this is one of the nicer units.

Owner's Response: Regarding the view, 28A is a ground level unit on a small hill and faces west to the ocean. The main and master bedroom lanais share this view. The picture posted on our listing overlooking the small pool is an accurate southwest view from the front of the main lanai; the ocean can clearly be seen in that picture, along with the nearby island of Kaho’olawe. Ground floor units by their nature trade some of their view in exchange for much larger lanais, immediate green space off the lanais, better access to the grounds, especially while carrying items such as beach chairs, and the units being much cooler.  We feel that the above review is overly critical about the view; 28A has a beautiful west/southwest view with a pool right out front and the ocean in sight (the ocean is 200 meters away as the crow flies). We would also like to elaborate on location; 28A is exactly 240 meters from the Pavilion/Main Pool area (a three-minute walk for an average adult at a normal pace) and 300 meters to a point standing on the middle of the beach through the beach access door at the Pavilion. This makes 28A one of the most accessible two-bedroom units to the main pool area and beach.  Regarding the plumbing, this guest was unable to use one of the bathrooms for a short period of time due to a blockage; the guest had already been staying in the unit for over three weeks prior to this. We immediately (within two days) replaced both toilets with a new matching set of higher-flow models (to upgrade water flow) and ensured all the lines were clear. It is unfortunate that this happened, but we also ask that guests be mindful about what gets flushed down the toilet. This guest stayed at 28A during March 2017, therefore any mention of the small pool closure in January 2017 while staying in another unit is not related to his stay in 28A. Nevertheless, regarding pool closures, Ekahi Village has a total of four pools and the pools are occasionally closed for either maintenance or repairs. Whenever a pool is closed, there are three other pools as well as the beach available for guests. Because Ekahi Village is a year-round destination and the grounds are kept in meticulous condition, periodic maintenance and repairs are simply a necessity for keeping Ekahi Village as beautiful as it is. There are always multiple pool options available to guests in the complex. We hope our response adds clarity to the comments provided in the review and we look forward to our future guests enjoying 28A.

Fabulous condo in perfect location

This is a bright, airy, open feeling condo. Everything is new and in great shape, and it is very tastefully decorated. The open kitchen is very well stocked.The couch is super comfortable and large. We're a family of 4 and the size of the condo was very roomy. A larger family would also feel quite comfortable with a king in one bedroom and two queens in the other. We've stayed at another condo at Ekahi and saw one our friends were staying in, and this is nicer than either of those. The walk to the beach and bigger pool is a little far, but we didn't find it too bad, especially since they provided great beach chairs with backpack straps and zippered compartments. The second pool is literally in the backyard which was a dream for my daughter the fish. It was practically our private pool the whole visit. The secret to this pool is that when it was windy on the beach and at the big pool, it wasn't too windy at "our" pool. The beach is one of our two favorites on Maui - it's gorgeous and you can just hop in and snorkel right there. Paradise.
