About Dancing Bear Vacation Rentals of Asheville

Our family moved to Asheville a year ago full time when Tony retired from the restaurant business. Four years ago, we purchased this cabin in NE Asheville so that we could have a place to visit and bring our dogs. We knew that we would have to rent it as a short term rental to be able to afford to have it. It's has been so successful that since then, we have purchased 4 more vacation rental properties and now devote our time to renting and maintaining those properties. We enjoy the communication with travelers and being able to provide a great place to stay in Asheville that's pet friendly, convenient and reasonably priced. It's important to us that our guests know that we do everything we can to make their vacation memorable. After all, we want you to keep coming back!

Why Dancing Bear Vacation Rentals of Asheville chose Asheville

We purchased this home in May because we were looking for an investment property where we could also enjoy ourselves being only 2 hours away. The home was previously a successful rental on a luxury home rental site with a successful rental history. We immediately fell in love with it's rustic quality, quaintness and perfect location. We made a few improvements and are now ready to share this wonderful cabin with vacationers who will appreciate all it has to offer.

What makes this cabin unique

We love that it feels so secluded and away from city life, yet is so close to downtown Asheville and the wonderful restaurants we like to patronize. We've already seen some of the mountain wildlife and we love to sit on the deck amid the beautiful, stately trees and enjoy the solitude and view. The pine paneling interior brings back memories for me of visiting our family cabin on the lake back in the 70's when I was a child growing up in Minnesota. The upstairs bedroom loft is our daughter's retreat and she spends hours up there reading and looking out at the gorgeous forest.

Property is nice ... but,

  • 2 of 5

DO NOT bring a motorcycle here, and if not in okay physical condition, this one may not be for you. The parking area has no level parts, the approach is crazy steep (wet when we arrived and lost traction going up to the very small parking zone). We are seasoned motorcycle riders, but not willing to accommodate the risk of approaching the parking, so lost a week of rent for having to go somewhere else. We informed the owner that a motorcycle on trailer would accompany us ... she did NOT inform us of the conditions we would encounter. If you consider this property for a stay ... ask a lot of questions.

Owner's Response: This review contains information that is simply not true. When the guest contacted me, via email through VRBO after she made the booking, she asked if the roads to the cabin were paved because they were bringing a motorcycle. I replied that the roads are all paved as well as the driveway. She did not inform me that they were bringing the trailer. Had she done so, I would have recommended another cabin because this driveway could not accommodate a trailer. I’ve never hesitated to refer guests to other properties if I felt that ours would not work for them. It’s unfortunate that she did not provide information that would have avoided this situation but also sorry that this review was allowed to be published as VRBO has the email exchange between the guest and myself which shows she did not mention they were bringing a trailer.

Cozy and conveniently located property!

  • 4 of 5

The property was cozy and well equipped. Conveniently located near downtown and the Biltmore. The owner was easily acciessible and checked with us upon arrival to see if we needed anything. Clean. Only suggestion would be better lighting in the bathrooms and bedrooms.

A great place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our Girls weekend! It was very clean, smelled fresh, and nicely decorated. We felt very comfortable and it had everything we needed to make for a relaxing weekend. It was located close enough to downtown Asheville and other places of interest to make outings easily accessible. Definitely would recommend this cabin for a gateway weekend in the mountains.

The cabin was clean and set up nice. The bottle of wine from our owners was much appreciated after our beautiful drive in. I wish we could of saw the leaves change color. Lots of flowers tho and pure beauty!
