Come and celebrate in our beautiful downtown Santa Barbara home. Our gardens are filled with fruit trees and organic vegetables as well as sweet smelling flowers. You will live in a newly decorated home surrounded by the paintings of a long time Santa Barbara artist. A library of over 4000 books covering a broad scope of subjects awaits your curiosity. This charming 2 bedroom home, built in 1926 and recently upgraded to meet modern day needs, is cozy and comfortable. Overlooking the back garden is a sitting room with a sofa that easily converts to a double bed with an excellent mattress. We ask that you remove your shoes upon entering in order to keep the floors and rugs fresh and clean. There is parking available in the driveway. Up to 6 people can comfortably enjoy this wonderful space. off street parking.

Due to a excellent central location, you will be walking distance from tasty restaurants, wonderful entertainment, movie and dance theaters, art galleries and a variety of shops in every price range. There is weekly free entertainment and classes. A yoga studio is 2 blocks away.

Amenities are provided, i.e., sheets, towels, etc.

The house is one block from the beautiful Alice Keck Park known for its water conservation plantings and a small body of water inhabited by ducks, fish and turtles and SB charm. The historic Sunken Gardens, Courthouse and public Library are about 3 blocks away. The bus stop is one block over and service up and down State Street goes well into the evening, so the harbor and even the UC Santa Barbara campus is possible without an auto. Shuttle service ($.25) is two blocks away and it can take you down to the harbor and any place along State St. Cantwell's local market is also only one block away, on State and Arrellaga. They sell healthy take-out meals, freshly brewed coffee, tea, beer, snacks, some produce and hot dishes, some groceries, wines and beers, etc. Two health food stores are short drives away, the closest being Whole Foods on upper State St.

Aside from this past winter Santa Barbara is in a Mediterranean climate zone with winter rains, when they come. Normally, SB has over 85% of its days sunny, with even overcast mornings blended into bright sunny afternoons. Surf and beach walks are short drives away. Lots of hiking possibilities. SB is famous for its architecture. Since the last big earthquake in 1925, all the downtown buildings were built in the Spanish style, with tile roofs, iron grated windows, gates, and other features.

Monthly rate is $7200. Longer term reduced rate.

About the owner: Retired scientist, writer, painter, perpetual student, raised in Lyndhurst New Jersey, BC, MS from U. of Delaware had football schlorship, PHD UC, Berkeley, biological control specialist ran own non-profit for 40 years, fear climate changes will bring drastic changes most are not prepared for, like to produce some of my own food. Why the Owner Chose Upper East, Santa Barbara, CA, USA:
We inherited the house from former wife's folks. Santa Barbara has over 85% of its days sunny, house is centrally located with easy access to downtown and to mass transport to get interesting places by walking or without a car, health food stores take a car, train station and airport short cab rides. We love it here but also like to travel in our camper as we are painters also and want to capture what beauty exists before it is paved over and filled with people.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our home has been described a cozy, convenient, and comfortable. We have now great water supply, and a third bedroom. Wifi and broadband access as well as a potential satellite hookup. Good video and book library, big backyard with patio dining and barbecue possibilities. The convenient location means no car is needed to sample the local environments.
