Great location - horrible beds...

  • 4 of 5

We loved the location and layout of this clean and cute cottage. Close to restaurants, bakery (great bagels and muffins @ Bay Street bakery) the beach was close and parking right out front was great. Two full baths, great kitchen, HUGE flat screen TV all of these items are great. Unfortunately the queen size beds are the worst we have ever slept on, or tried to. I woke each morning at about 3AM and moved to the living room sofa because the low-end mattress was more than firm, hard as a rock may be the best way to describe. Maybe if I was 20 something this would not bother me but at 60 we expect a better mattress. We are both in pretty good shape, we were there for a long distance bike ride, and neither my wife or could take another night on this bed. We'd stay again but would bring a thick mattress pad in hopes of getting a full nights rest. Landlord was very responsive to a concern we had and made adjustments immediately.

Owner's Response: I think that anyone would agree that mattress comfort is very subjective. That being said we have two medium firm mattresses that we spent upwards to $1100 each. This is not just an investment property but our own beach house and good mattresses were a must. We will be adding mattresses pads for guests who l like a softer mattress with less support. But again these mattress are fairly high-end and are no more than 2 years old. We like one so much that I ordered one for my first home in Chicago. ( :

Lovely bungalow and super location.

  • 4 of 5

Very convenient, clean, and very quiet. Only complaint is the beds are not that great. Also front doors are hard to unlock and lock.

Other than that, we had a lovely visit.

Convenient to take ferry to NYC which we did.

Owner's Response: I'm not sure exactly what the expectation of the mattresses were. I would think to large degree that mattress comfort is subjective. The cottage is equipped with two medium firm high end mattresses that are less than two years old. These mattresses were bought for us ( the homeowners) specifically as this is our vacation house and not merely just an investment property. In fact we liked our shore house mattress so much that we bought another one for our home in Chicago😀😀😀

In walking distance to lots of restaurants and a small bay beach w/lifeguard nearby, and a short bike/car ride to Sandy Hook State Park and nearby shore points. Great stay!!

Perfect vacation rental!

  • 5 of 5

The location is ideal, just off the water in Highlands with super easy access to everything. The house is stylish but relaxed and inviting, everything feels new and clean, and you truly want for nothing. Easy parking, a private yard with a grill and even bikes to cruise around. For anyone wanting a beach or fishing getaway at Sandy Hook (or nearby beaches) this place is absolutely perfect!

Great beach house. Excellent location.

  • 5 of 5

Decided to rent this house for 2 couples in town for a sailing event. The house perfectly fit our needs. The location was excellent as we could walk to restaurants, bagel shop, and shops. Also, proximity to the ferry terminal was perfect - it was a very easy 1 mile walk if you did not want to park.

Overall a great weekend getaway.
