Updated 3-Bed, 1-Bath Condo On 2nd Beach Block

Wonderful 3-Bed/1-Bath English Basement Apartment on Maryland Avenue, 1.5 blocks to beach.

Park your car and relax for your vacation... You're at the beach! Located on the 2nd block of Maryland Avenue (a quiet street), this property is just steps to all the wonderful things downtown Rehoboth has to offer. There are two off-street parking spaces behind the home, and I also provide a parking permit if needed.

Each bedroom has a queen bed, pillows, and a vertical fan. The beds have quilts, but you will need to bring your own sheets, towels, and other linens.

For those who like to cook while on vacation, the kitchen features a gas stove and oven, dishwasher, and large breakfast bar/countertop for prep. The breakfast bar has two stools. Also, there is a table with fold-down sides with four chairs stored inside of it. When coupled with two occasional chairs in the living room, you can comfortably seat six at the table. The kitchen is fully stocked, including coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, hand mixer, pots, pans, bakeware, etc.. Also, since I used to be a renter, I know it can be a hassle when you forget to bring things like plastic wrap, aluminum foil, paper towels, and toilet paper. So, I keep those in stock at the unit. Even if you discover that you’re missing something, there are two Lingos Market convenience stores around the corner.

The condo has a wall unit air conditioner in the living room that cools the entire condo very nicely (one of the benefits of being below grade). It also (as of June 2016) now has a free-standing air conditioner unit in the back bedroom of the condo (the farthest point from the wall unit) to ensure that you can get the place nice and cool even on the hottest days of summer!

The condo also features high-speed internet, cable, and a TiVO DVR so that you can record your favorite shows while you’re at the beach. The living room has two queen futons and two occasional chairs which provide plenty of seating.

Next to the main entrance to the condo, you’ll find a large patio area. One half of that patio is for your use during your stay, and includes a table with 4 chairs. At one corner of the patio is an outside shower for rinsing off after a day at the beach.

Several folks have asked what I mean by “English basement apartment”. An English basement is one that is partially below ground and partially above. So, in the case of my condo, you walk down a private stairwell to enter the condo. However, there are multiple high-set windows (about 5 feet off the ground) throughout the condo which make it 'light and airy' (in the words of one of my early renters). The ceiling is around 6’ 8”, and there is a lot of natural light in the unit, so the space feels quite comfortable. I have stayed here myself, and I love it! Also, if you search for other 2- or 3-bedroom condos this close to the beach, you will see that average rents are $2,000 or more per week. My place is clean and loved, and I bet that after you stay here once, you’ll want to come back. I certainly hope you will!

One note: Although I love animals and know they are family, I don’t allow pets in the condo. There are too many renters who have allergies. Also, I allowed 4-legged guests years ago in another property I had, and I found that it could be very challenging to get the place as clean as the next renters deserved.

Safety: If you are traveling with little ones, I have (in the pantry closet) child safety caps that you can put on the stove. I just ask that you please remove them when you are ready to leave. Also, I have installed a propane alarm that will sound if the gas is left on without the flame igniting.

Most of the condos in downtown Rehoboth are 2-bedroom 1-bath units. This property offers 3 bedrooms and an amazing location at a lower price than the smaller 2-bedroom units.

What makes this condo unique

I love being able to walk to the beach and come back to the condo for lunch whenever I feel like it. And you can't beat the convenience for restaurants and night life: the majority of Rehoboth's downtown restaurants and shops are within 3 blocks of the condo.

Great accomodations - great location - great owner!

This was the first time staying in this apartment and it was exactly as described; three bedrooms, a bathroom and a full kitchen. There is very little natural light because the apartment is in the basement and sits below grade but the apartment was well stocked with everything I needed. There are two different entries but both are down a flight of steps so good mobility is a must. The apartment is only a block and a half from the ocean/boardwalk and even closer to shopping and dozens of wonderful restaurants! You can park your car and walk anywhere you need to go!

I had a small problem with the shower leaking but the owner was extremely attentive and resolved the problem immediately and I was able to enjoy the rest of my stay with no concerns. Parking is tight (I have a huge SUV) but it was do-able and during the off season there was plenty of off-street parking if I didn't want to use the parking lot.

This apartment is surprisingly roomy (3 different bedrooms plus futons in the LR!). For the size and location/convenience, you can't beat the price! I would definitely consider this apartment for future stays!!

Great hidden gem. Well maintained basement unit in a great location.

We were joining extended family for Thanksgiving in Rehoboth Beach. Jim's 3 bedroom unit on Maryland Ave. worked out perfectly!! The unit was very clean and well maintained. Jim made the rental process very easy and painless. His hospitality and availability were great.

Awesome little efficiency, parking a bit tight

Worked fantastic for our family over a long festival weekend. Short walk to boardwalk and Rehoboth Ave. Owners were amazing, communication was quick within an hour or so.

PROS:

-proximity to beach/boardwalk/shops (not outlets)

-very affordable for midsized family (5 of us)

-efficiency well stocked and maintained (pots, pans, bowls)

-owners are extremely nice, accommodating and communication was great.

-Close to everything, but on a quiet street

CONS:

-Parking is very tight around the house, difficult to get in/out if many cars/other Apts are occupied. Street parking is well "monitored" and sometimes difficult to find.

-Stairs are very steep going down to efficiency (not an issue for us, but may be for some)

-Not really a con, but just something to be aware of, beds are rather firm.

-You can easily hear people upstails if they are heavy footed or have children (again not an issue just be aware)

Overall, a definite great place to stay for a midsized family. It has its small quirks, but a definite diamond in the rough and a gem that we will be coming back to.

Great value - clean place!

This was my third time renting from Jim, and my first in this apartment. It is clean, well-maintained, close to the beach, and very comfortable. Everything worked fine for us, but Jim still replied to our few messages quickly. For a basement unit, it is quite bright - windows on three sides and plenty of lights.

All in all, it is pretty much exactly as described - the most important thing to me when I rent. There were no surprises - the basement location and steps are just as expected, and as anywhere in Rehoboth, parking a larger car in the back is going to be dicey (there is one street parking pass provided btw!) We had a hot spell, but the A/C unit worked great!

Highly recommended to anyone to reads the description and knows they are staying in a basement unit. Jim has been great to deal with every time I've stayed in one of his places!

Rentals are from Sunday 4pm through Sunday 11am during summer (May 15-Sep 15). For the rest of the year, I am flexible with arrival and departure days. Repeat renters are given a $100 discount off current rates for subsequent full-week bookings.

I now do $200 refundable damage deposits, which go back to you automatically 7 days after your stay unless there is damage. However, if you prefer to do the non-refundable $59 property damage protection (PDP) plan, I can do that as well. The PDP plan just seemed like a waste of money to me for my renters, since all of my renters have been great with the condo (thanks everyone).
