Area Information We are 'The Sportsfishing Capital of the world', and home of great diving, Sunsets, and relaxation but here are some other ideas: Sightseeing, History and Tours Dolphins Grassy Key The Dolphin Research Center The true home of Flipper! Don't miss this place; they are dedicated to training, studying, and protecting the Dolphins! I recommend reserving a spot to swim with one of the Dolphins, it is well worth the money! Famous people from around the world visit this facility each year because they are the best. You will be amazed at what you will learn and the gift shop is quite nice as well. Beach Marathon Sombrero Beach Turn left at Kmart on Sombrero Beach Road and you'll find the nicest beach in the Middle Keys. The Keys are not known for their beaches but Sombrero is a beautiful beach and it is right here in Marathon! 7 Mile Bridge Marathon Pigeon Key A tiny five acre island just below the seven mile bridge was once the home to the workers who built Henry Flagler's Ra

Great Location - Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay

  • 4 of 5

We had a great week here! The home is about half-way between Islamorada and Key West, so only about an hour drive in either direction. The kitchen is huge and great even with a lot of people. Probably our favorite part was the tiki hut at the end of the dock. We spent a ton of time sitting on the dock with coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening, just relaxing and fishing. We saw dolphin, a manatee, all types of fish, a moray eel, nurse sharks and lobster all right there. We had two families, and a total of 3 kids. An extra bathroom would have been nice, but we made it work and it wasn't a huge deal. The views from the rooftop deck are amazing as well. We didn't spend as much time up there as we had anticipated, though. It could have used some sort of shade, like an umbrella or something. The biggest downside was the black muck that piles up in front of the property, which prevents being able to enter the water from the land. You have to enter from the dock.

We didn't have a boat, but looking back, even though we aren't boat people, I would have rented at least a pontoon boat or something for a day or two to get out and see the area. If you have a boat, or are renting a boat, it's an ideal location!! Our neighbors went out every day and caught fish. We even had some fresh Mahi Mahi given to us one evening, and it was amazing! If you plan to use the wrap-around deck, keep in mind the season when you're going. It doesn't get a breeze like you do on the dock, so during the hot months, it's extremely hot and sticky during the day. Also, the owner is VERY responsive and when I did have some questions or needs, he got back to me immediately.

Spacious and comfortable

Great house for those who love to fish (which was us). Spacious kitchen, outdoor areas, and rooms. We especially loved the pier and the rod holders at the end of it. Caught lots of different fish right from the dock.

Only drawback was mattress in master bedroom. Too soft for us. Overall great experience.

Stayed here the other week and absolutely loved it. The house was magnificent, and there was plenty of room. We enjoyed going out in the mornings and evening to fish off the dock. While others just enjoying tanning and swimming on the roof. Great for boat access and taking some kayaks to watch the sunset in the water. There was plenty of room for the 8 of us to stay and the full kitchen made cooking meals for everyone a breeze. For anyone who is looking for a house to rent, would defiantly recommend this one. Wonderful place to stay!

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice stay at Gold Point. The deck around the outside of the house and view were really nice. The house was very spacious. We had fun snorkling and fishing right on site and even saw a manatee, several lobster, two tarpon, and a couple barracuda right in the canal. Dock easily accommodated our 25' rental boat. Thanks for a great vacation.
