About the property

Steele Farm Is A Quaint And Cozy Home On 80 Bucolic Acres in Livingston Manor NY

The farm is located in the beautiful Catskills, just over a 2 hour drive from New York City. You will enjoy a warm historic house on 80 diverse acres and enjoy the amenities. It is fully equipped for a lovely vacation with lots to do in the area.

Our policy is whether you are one guest or eight you will have the whole house to yourself - you won't share with unknown guests.

The house has a fully equipped eat-in kitchen, washer/dryer, cable TV and hard-wired internet. There is also a DVD player.

A large screened dining room seats eight and is delightful during the warm months, and a large deck with dining area that seats 12 is also available. The living room has large windows on three sides and a working fireplace for cozy and relaxing times.

Outside there are two ponds – one that is swimmable, one with bullhead fish and a small boat – and a fire pit and walking trails.

There are many local activities available for a perfect vacation. We are 20 minutes from the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center and Museum at the site of the original Woodstock concert, and from Monticello Casino and Raceway. The nearby Delaware River has multiple locations to canoe, raft, or tube. We are close to the Willowemoc River and Roscoe for the best trout fishing ever. Close by is an educational New York State trout hatchery, White Lake for motor boating, Mongaup Pond State Park for camping and swimming and Neversink Reservoir for row boating and fishing.

Other things to do in the area include horseback riding, hiking, camping, antiquing, visiting art galleries and mountain biking. In wintertime, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing opportunities abound. Holiday Mountain is a small family mountain a mere 20 minutes away. Belleayre and Plattekill are one hour away for nice downhill skiing, and Big Bear and Elk Mountain are in nearby Pennsylvania.

These other places you shouldn't miss: BashaKill and Eminence Road Farm wineries, shops in Livingston Manor like Morgan Outdoors, Willow & Brown, Main Street Farm, Brandenburg Bakery, and Catskill Brewery and the brand new Arnold restaurant, less than five minutes away. In Roscoe take a tour through the Prohibition Distillery, in Bethel visit the Catskill Mountain Distillery and Dancing Cat Saloon. There are a number of Rails to Trails hiking trails in the area.

Relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

A few friends and I stayed at Tim's farm for New Year's Eve weekend and had an incredible time! The home had a great fireplace, kitchen, and dining room. The living room also has a beautiful 180 degree view of the farm overlooking the farm's two ponds. We had a great time making a fire in the outside firepit and making s'mores. The home's caretaker was very responsive and helpful! I would recommend it to a group looking to get out and enjoy some time away with friends.

Amazing, Pastoral Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Steele Farm! I cannot do much but to echo the sentiments of the other reviewers. I deliberated for days on a place to stay in the Hudson Valley/Catskills region for a 4 day weekend with my boyfriend and Mom and then we landed Tim's place and could not have been more pleased. Hiking trails right on the property, awesome hilly terrain in and around Livingston Manor for running, campfires each night, grilling, fishing...all on a wonderful farm setting tucked off a gravel road. The grounds are really quite stunning. We literally made smoked trout dip every day and you should, too! This was an amazing respite from hectic city life and would highly recommend Steele Farm (although much like another reviewer, I do not want the secret to get out!!!). Tim and the caretakers are awesome, as well as neighbor Mike right up the road who makes Maple Syrup - definitely not to be missed!

Magical farm

  • 5 of 5

Peaceful and majestic farm house, nestled amid a lush forest with lovely two ponds, one nice for fishing, well groomed grounds and authentic décor in the house. Landlord was very nice and cooperative, caregiver helped with live bait for the fishing at no charge, house was in great condition, convenient two bedrooms plus four single beds for the kids worked very well for our extended family.

Highly recommend!

I wish this could be a secret. TRUE GEM OF A PROPERTY!

  • 5 of 5

A secret hideaway for relaxation and getting away from it all is what this property delivers. The house itself is stately and very well appointed, saying it has everything is an understatement because it has everything and then some. It's a great gathering place for a small group to spend quality time together away from the hustle and bustle of life. You can see the stars at night, you can hear birds chirping in the morning, sitting on the front porch swing with a cup of coffee in the morning, I could rave about this place forever.

My friends and I rented this property for a guys bachelor getaway weekend and it was the perfect choice, campfires by night and fishing, boating and playing sports during the day. The grounds are expansive and seem to really go on forever, the dirt/gravel road to get there adds all the charm and helps build up the suspense and then BOOM there it is, a house on a perfect setting, you can't ask for more BUT you get so much more......Beyond the property being stellar, the owner Tim is a great great great guy, he was so easy to reach and speak to, we had no problem at all during our stay but I called to thank him before we left because we were so pleased with our stay.

Thanks again Tim, we shall be back!
