About Tish and Eric Gross

Eric and Tish were both introduced to snow skiing at a young age. Growing up in families with a love of vacations AND skiing, we each skied many great slopes. (Along with aunts and uncles, cousins, family friends, ski bums and other vagabonds!) Between us we traveled to Snow Shoe, Killington, Steamboat, Arapaho Basin, Keystone, Copper, Breckenridge, Alta, Snowbird, Austria, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Seven Devils, Vail, Beaver Creek, Snowbird, Alta, Solitude, Brighton, and Park City. Our snow skiing resumes were long for a country boy from North Alabama and a saltwater girl from the central East coast of Florida.

When we met at Auburn University in August of 1991, stories of snow ski trips dominated the conversation. By December, Eric was on his first ski trip with Tish's family to Canaan Valley, WV and Timberline and the next era in our ski vacations began.

In 1993 we went to Crested Butte, CO; in 1994 we missed our trip because we were getting married. Over the next 18 years, we took a ski trip almost every year, with 6-14 family members, college friends, family friends, and other loved-ones and ski bums we picked up along the way.

One of our first trips in those post-college days was Lake Tahoe in 1997 with 16 people. We skied at Heavenly, Squaw, Alpine Meadows, Sierra and Kirkwood. The skiing we great; the party was epic.

In those 18 years our annual trips also included Steamboat (3 times), Park City, Snowmass (3 times), Big Sky, Jackson Hole, Bad Gastein (Austria), Whistler, Breckenridge, and many, many trips to Beech Mountain, where Tish's parents have a place. We took some side trips along the way to Vail, Aspen, Deer Valley, the Canyons, and Beaver Creek. There was usually a crowd, and we ALWAYS had a great time!

We took our son to Snowmass in February 2005 (12 mos old) and our daughter to Copper in 2009 (5 mos. old). Over the years it’s become more complicated to get the group together, but we almost always found time fora trip.

Tish and Eric Gross purchased this condo in 2014

Why Tish and Eric Gross chose Gold Country & High Sierra

We bought this place in March of 2014, after only a few visits to Kirkwood.

For our Spring Break 2013 trip, it looked as if only a few of the die hards would join our annual trip, so we planned a trip to Kirkwood since some friends from CA have a condo in Basecamp that we could use. Right after we booked flights, another family decided to join us, then another, then another. We ended up with 25 people in 4 condos and had an amazing week. We were hooked! The snow is great, the mountain has the perfect mix of terrain, it's not too big and not too small, the price is affordable, and the local hospitality is second to none.

After nine months of thinking about it and rationalizing it, we came back to Kirkwood for our 20 year wedding anniversary in January 2014 to look at condos. The minute we walked into Meadowstone Lodge #204, we felt at home immediately and we knew this is where the next era of out ski memories would be made. We look forward to our kids having fond memories of all the trips here over the years and we know those memories will be as special to them as our family ski vacation memories are to us. We'll still visit other mountains, but this is now our ski home.

All the Best,

Tish, Eric, Parker and Payton

Wonderful Return Stay in Meadowstone Lodge

  • 5 of 5

This is the second summer we spent in Kirkwood at Meadowstone Lodge. We (and our children) had a wonderful time playing in the lakes, creeks, and hiking trails. One of the best features of Meadowstone Lodge is we could walk or bike with our children to the private Kirkwood playground or take the kids on evening bike rides to the along the biking trails and small creeks. My daughter learned to bike on downhill dirt trails at Kirkwood and my son enjoyed throwing rocks into the creek.

At night the stars come alive and one can sit on either balcony with their feet up and search for shooting stars or just enjoy the incredible vastness of the universe. The stars are so bright you can literally see at night by starlight, even in the absence of moonlight. During warmer days you can open both balconies and revel in the cool breeze that permeates the home.

We have fallen in love with Kirkwood and Meadowstone lodge has become our summer home for two years in a row now. We believe we have found a beautifully summer treasure and hope to return for many more adventures to come.

Another great week in Kirkwood

  • 5 of 5

This is our second summer enjoying this condo in Kirkwood. The condo continues to be well maintained and comfortable. We enjoyed the new personal and family touches the owners have added, making us feel like family too. This is certainly the better option than several other places we have seen in the valley. Kirkwood is pretty quiet during the summer, but this worked well for a home base for visiting other places in the area for swimming, fishing, hiking. We hope to visit again next year.

Perfect ski condo close to lifts

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 rented Tish's place for the 2014-15 ski season and loved it. Nicely furnished and updated. Super clean. Great view of the meadow and easy to see lifts from the balcony. Parking and elevator were so easy. Kids could play in meadow while we watched from the balcony. 2 minute walk to lifts. 100% recommend.

Delightful Summer Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 1 and 6) stayed at Meadowstone Lodge for 4 weeks during June and July 2015. The home is modern, spacious, and clean – more spacious than the pictures are able to show. The home has two large balconies with self-closing birch screen doors and redwood railings on either side of the home. One balcony views a glimpse of the western slopes, and the other overlooks the famous Kirkwood RedCliffs. On warm days we would open both balcony doors and the cool refreshing air would flow through the home. On rainy days, the home was very warm, cozy, and dry. If it was really cold, we could turn on the fireplace for a while to warm things up. Sitting on the balcony, was a pleasure with a view of the meadows, a small creek, the children’s park, and thousands of wildflowers.

The building and home is very modern, safe, and secure (even for young children) and the internet was sufficient to work remotely from the home using terminal servers. We also loved the underground parking with direct access to the elevators to carry our children and items directly to the condo via the elevator and available bell-hop carts.

During the evenings we would take bike rides on the many trails and hikes to through the meadows and wildflowers directly from the condo. On weekends we would go drive to Silver Lake to swim or hike down to the famous Potholes. Definitely recommend a hike around Lake Kirkwood also. The kids loved playing in the nearby creek (200 yards away) and beautiful children’s playground. The folks in the area were kind and helpful and even let us mail some Amazon items to the local store and post office for pick up. The local store is open until 5 PM each day during the summer. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. I would definitely recommend this location for a summer vacation, in fact, have fallen in love with Kirkwood!:)

Close to Chair 6

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and a couple of friends stayed at this condo recently. The condo is very spacious for a two bedroom. It's an easy walk to chair 5/6. The underground parking spot is convenient for the winter months so that you can unload/load without having all of your stuff get wet from snow/rain.

The two buildings are newer at Kirkwood and in excellent condition. The ski locker is located in the other building from which we were staying in, however. Finding it was a bit confusing at first and there are multiple security codes and a key needed to put your gear away after a day of riding.

Tish, the owner was very responsive to any issues. As we were the first visitors of the snow season the parking passes had yet to be picked up and placed in the unit. When I informed Tish she called Kirkwood to have them deliver the passes to the unit.

We would definitely stay here again!
