Dating from the 17th century, this stone house has been recently refurbished. Comfortably furnished, it has tiled floors, exposed beams and a wooden deck faciung south west. One of the two bedrooms comes with a fourposter, the other has a double and a single bed, and the house sleeps up to 5.
The pool is 10 minutes' walk away, and shared by all the gites.
The little hamlet of Blanc overlooks the beautiful Sanctus valley. Hawks, deer and wild boar roam its chestnut woodland, the pure air and mountain streams allow rare plants to thrive, and with no ground light you can still see the Milky Way.
The village consists of the remains of a 9th century chateau, a church and several stone houses with 8 hectares of grounds overlooking the valley.
Blanc lies in the middle of two regional parks, the Grands Causses and the Haut Languedoc, whose landscape is among the most beautiful and unspoilt in France and is therefore ideal walking country. There are several walks, with a specially edited walking guide, which leave from the village, lasting between 45 minutes and 6 hours.
The region is widely recognised for its wide range of outdoor activities. Horse and donkey riding are available locally, while for those in search of water, there's an abundance of streams and rivers, the breathtaking Tarn and Aveyron gorges, a swimming pond in the next village, and the Med's only 80km away.
There's no shortage of culture either: at hand are the historic chateaux and bastides (walled towns) of the Rouergue, the Templar and Hospitaller sites of the Larzac, and the Cistercian abbey of Sylvanes, with its respected summer festival of sacred music.
For refreshment, try the local delicacies: the famous cheese of Roquefort, charcuterie from Lacaune and wines of Faugeres.
Need more inspiration? Just take a look at what's on offer on the sites of the three neighbouring counties: the Aveyron, Tarn and Hérault.
There are also occasional activities in the village, especially during the summer.

If there is 1 place in France where you can find at least a piece of paradise, then it will be Blanc. I have passed some vacations in the gîte from owners Carlos and David, the most welcoming hosts one can wish for. The house is well-equiped and has a tasteful interior, including a fireplace for cosy autumn evenings. Its location is unique because, along with the old little church and a few other houses, it is one of the silent witnesses of the hamlet Blanc. Besides, history, culture and gastronomy are never far away in this magnificent part of Aveyron. The enchanting surrounding areas with hills, trees and rippling streams are an open invitation for long walks or mountainbike adventures. Afterwards you can take a dive in the private swimming pool and there will be plenty of local delicacies to enjoy.
I am sure I will visit Blanc again as soon as I can. Only good memories and warm feelings when I think of it...
September/October 2013 we stayed at Blanc for two weeks. The gite was better than expected (great garden, romantic firepalce, nice furniture) and our host Carlos made our stay one to remember. Our daughter Roos is 5 years old now and still remembers our stay and Carlos :) so you may see us again in the future!!
On adore
