About the owner: Owner now lives in Greensboro, NC but recently retired as a faculty member in the East Carolina University School of Music for 25 years. Owner and family have spent lots of time over the years enjoying Blowing Rock and all the features of this wonderful mountain home.
Why the Owner Chose Blowing Rock, NC, USA:
We chose this home because of its location, wonderful history, and historical charm. It was originally a stagecoach inn, dating from about 1889. The inn served as a stop between Lenoir and Blowing Rock. Over the years it was named the Springhaven Inn and was a boarding house, restaurant, shop, bed and breakfast and private residence. During the summers in the 1930's Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone With the Wind, would spend time at the Inn. Located at the edge of the downtown area it is the perfect location for those who want to walk to the nearby shops and restaurants. The antique collection adds charm to the home and the rocking chair porch is the perfect place to read a book and chat with friends and family.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Dating from 1889, the home was listed as a historical site by the Blowing Rock Historical Society. The home has lots of antiques and many old features that would appeal to those who like old, historical places.
