About Robert Shepherd
Fithri is from an island (Java, in Indonesia) and Robert has spent time living on two islands (Java and Taiwan). We hope you enjoy everything Chincoteague Island has to offer as much as we do.
Robert Shepherd purchased this Bungalow in 2017
Why Robert Shepherd chose Chincoteague Island
We are in a very quiet neighborhood that is child and bicycle friendly. The screen porch is large (24 feet x 12 feet) and comfortable. The island trolley (25 cents per ride) passes in front of our house. Just minutes away from island attractions.
What makes this Bungalow unique
We spend most of our time on the screen porch. Walking to nearby restaurants and shops is easy (be sure to stop by the Black Narrows Brewery!) We enjoy biking around the island, including an easy twenty minute ride to the never crowded biker/hiker beach on Assateague, a five minute ride to the shops and restaurants on Main Street, and a ten minute ride to the entrance on Assateague. And remember, when you enter Assateague Island by bike you do not pay an admission fee!

The house was clean with sheets and towels available.
The pantry supplies were well stocked but I had already brought my own items. The TV worked great once you figured out how to use the controls. WiFi worked wonderfully! The outside shower and inside one provided plenty hot water. Appliances looked new and it's visible that the home owner takes pride in the appearance of the property.
I did think the bedroom facing the street could use a new mattress. Didn't use the screened in porch but it was nice and liked the lighting. Didn't use the grill area but I did like the space. The driveway was in a weird spot. Bet it could be difficult backing out during the height of the season.
Would recommend this property. Thanks for sharing your home!
Wonderful, welcoming beach house
This was our second year staying at The Flying Goose, and we couldn't have been happier. The house worked wonderfully for our family of four (with two little boys), and the Annex was a great space for my parents. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the necessities and everything felt clean and organized. The addition of the fire pit was nice and allowed for a fun night roasting marshmallows. The house is located in a quite area, but it's easy to walk to the main areas, and it's a quick drive to the beach. We highly recommend The Flying Goose and hope to stay again in the future.
The porch always works....
...but other things didn't work--wifi, tv, saggy mattress, not so clean pots and pans which we really needed bc we are vegetarians. The porch, central AC, outdoor shower, great location, quiet neighborhood, and really clean house upon arrival were perfect.
We are very sorry you had problems, Jenise. In the future, please contact us immediately with any concerns and we will ask our housekeeper to come over and assist you. When she checked the house today, she reported that the television, cable, and wifi were all working fine.
Great and Economical
What a great place to rent. Details large and small near perfect. Very clean and neat, with interesting artwork. Comfortable living room and bedrooms, well-appointed eat-in kitchen, plenty of chairs (all comfortable) and towels, AC perfect and central, washer/dryer a cinch to run, outdoor shower heavenly, annex building a tiny bit musty but my adult sons competed for the fun of staying there, great fire pit, and the screen porch a spacious and peaceful connection to the outdoors.
Thank you very much for your kind words, Marguerite, and we are happy you enjoyed your time on the island.
A relaxing and cozy home away from home
We visited the island for a family wedding and enjoyed the comforts of home instead of a hotel. The porch is amazing and the kitchen was well stocked and the bedrooms were nicely decorated. The neighborhood was quiet and even with some days of rain it was a great place to be. The additional cottage for my son worked well giving him his own spot to relax. Thanks for a lovely place to stay.
Thank you, Mary. We hope to see you again on the island.
Our favorite thing about this house was the screened in porch- it was great to relax, sip a cup of coffee in the morning, and eat dinner "outside" without any bugs! The house is clean and furniture and beds are extremely comfy. This house has everything! It was very nice to do laundry and come home from vacation without loads of dirty laundry! We loved using the chairs and umbrella at the beach! The outside shower is awesome to keep all the sand outside. We enjoyed using the grill and having a bonfire! For our family of 6 with 4 children from 6 months of age though 8 years old, it was great to have our own outside space for the kids to play instead of trying to keep them quiet inside and from disturbing other hotel guests. This place is very reasonable; and for our family, it was cheaper than getting a hotel room. Plus, we loved all the "extra perks" with being able to grill and cook, do laundry, play and be outside, and have a bonfire. We loved our stay here! We hope to be back next year! This house made our family vacation just perfect!
Thank you very much, Stephanie, and we are happy your family had a great experience on Chincoteague.
Convenient to all Chincoteague Island activities.
