Love, love, love this house!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited the area for a hike to Mt. Rogers, biking the Creeper Trail, and a play at the Barter Theatre and needed a cozy place to call home during our visit. This was it! The owner, Merry, is so nice and accomodating. When we arrived she had snacks, waters, wine, etc. for us. The house was immaculate and was filled with eccentric decor, which we absolutely loved. Everywhere you looked you'd see something you didn't notice before. The house is located in a neighborhood very within a 10 minute drive to downtown Abingdon and about 25-30 minutes to the Creeper Trail bike/shuttle locations. We hope to return in the spring for another bike adventure and will defintely stay here again.

Best place to stay in the area!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Fox House for almost 6 months and it was great. The house is filled with new appliances including a washer/dryer. There are two tv's with cable and lightning fast internet. The house slept two of us very comfortable, but you could easily sleep more. There is one room with a queen bed, one room with two twins, and a pullout couch in the den. The neighbors are pleasant and there is very little traffic. Tastefully furnished with everything you need, including a grill and patio furniture. Great bang for the buck!

Perfect inexpensive Virginia creeper trail

This was a right squeeze for 8 people, but I knew it would be. It's more suited for 6 people and was fantastic! Merry had wine, snacks, coffee and water out for us. I would stay here again!

Happy Travelers

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the lovely "Fox House" during our vacation. Merry really has done a wonderful job remodeling the home. It is absolutely gorgeous and you feel at home away from home. Merry's' hospitality was above and beyond. She left us cookies, snacks and water bottles. We thoroughly enjoyed or stay and look forward to staying again. Not only was the house perfect, but it was convenient to restaurants and shopping. (No need to get back on interstate for that either) We were very pleased and felt like we're at home during our stay.

Restored Mid-Century Gem - Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This is THE place to stay if you are visiting Abingdon, VA, Washington County, VA, or any place close to either. The house is a restored mid-century modern home with a wonderfully updated interior located in a quiet neighborhood. It makes an absolutely perfect temporary home for anyone. While the exterior charm has been left intact, the interior has been updated with all modern conveniences to include a large screen TV. wireless access, and contemporary kitchen. The interior furnishings are exceedingly tasteful and comfortable with the interior design rating an A+. Everything within the home was sparkling clean upon arrival. The photos posted on the website are spot on - the inside is beautifully decorated. The outside is just as nice with several areas to gather the family around a table or just lounge. The attention to guest comfort was plainly evident down to the selection of drink glasses and plates. The location of the home is such that you're a very short drive to both Abingdon and Bristol. Turn left onto Route 11 and you're headed towards the historic charms of Abingdon to include the Barter Theater (a visit to which is highly recommended). Turn right and you have access to all of Bristol's more contemporary restaurants and shops. The neighborhood where the home is located is quiet and everyone we had contact with very friendly - to include a visiting cat. In the afternoons we enjoyed taking walks simply to appreciate the local vista and unique mid-century architecture of the other surrounding well kept homes. The Fox House itself was well stocked with all kinds of amenities you are likely to forget to pack which were both utilized and much appreciated during our stay. The owners were an absolute pleasure to work. Excellent communication and extremely authentic. This rental home is just great. It will work well for: a couple needing some time alone; tourists seeking an affordable and attractive alternative to lodging within the congestion of downtown Abingdon; business owners who want a place for a work retreat or temporary forward operating location near Abingdon; fans of mid-century architecture who want to live it for a couple of days; and anyone seeking a break from motel chains or restrictive and claustrophobic B&Bs. Staying at the Fox House was the best vacation decision we've made in years. You will absolutely love staying here. A+.

Shabby Chic

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in many vacation rentals, I can say Fox House was by far the best. The homeowner, Merry, met me at the door and walked me through the meticulously maintained home. She also provided snacks and a bottle of wine for us to enjoy during our stay. The home was decorated with the upmost care, not one detail overlooked. I even found two bottles of nail polish matching the decor. I would recommend Fox House to anyone planning on staying in the area.
