We were truly comfortable. The house was nice and clean and plenty of space for us. Nice televisions and 3d movies for the kiddos to watch. Everything we needed was there except clothes, necesities, food and beach towels. The beach was a short distance away and was clean. We really loved our stay- about 13 miles the sea wall had restaurants, the Pier, Moody Gardens, Palm beach and Schlitterbahn water park. The owner was very nice!
We rented this house from 5/13-5/15! The pictures are exactly as the house are. Very clean and neat house! We would definitely rent this house again if we're down and around Jamaica Beach.
The only downfall is that you can't turn the thermostat down below 75 degrees. So needless to say we were warm while trying to sleep.
Overall this is a great house and would recommend it!
Apon arrival everything was clean and nice and organized. But once we tried to turn the air conditioner down it would not allow us to go lower than 75 degrees. It was Hot in the house all the time. It was extremely uncomfortable to sleep and not only would it not go lower than 75 it was programmed to shot up to 80 degrees at 7am. I woke up covered in sweat. Then when I confronted the homeowner he tells me it doesn't need to go below 75 and he has never had complaints before. I don't believe that statement for a second. BTW it was 95 degrees outside and felt like 102.
This house was adorable, MUCH cuter in real life! The picture didn't do it justice at all! It's a great location right by the canal which we stayed in the whole time! Owner was so nice and easy to work with! We will be saving the info for next year! Couldn't thank the owners enough was perfect and the price was amazing compared to others in the area!
Having stayed at various rental properties in the area, this by far is our absolute favorite!!! House was very clean, modern and nicely decorated. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, don't let the square footage fool ya, it was laid out very nice. Loved having coffee on the back deck, nice overhang for those who want shade. On the lower deck is a real nice swing, nice large yard for a view. Loved walking in the neighborhood, very close to the beach, exploring the area and looking at the many beautiful homes. Checked out a few open houses too!! Plenty of shore fishing, park your vehicle and pull out the fishing poles. Jamaica Beach has several nice beach accesses and Galveston State Park is right next door. Nate's Steak & Seafood is a great place in town for eating out and right next door the 7 Seas Market, great place to shop they have EVERYTHING!! Nathan, the owner, very very accommodating, he takes pride in his property and sincerely wants to please his tenants, that was very evident by the wonderful gift basket ;)....Thanks Nathan -you Rock!!! Hope to stay much longer next time!
We chose this property for our annual Girl's Weekend getaway. The property is about 10 minutes drive from the action of Galveston, but the beach is a short 5-10-minute walk. Jamaica Beach has plenty of grocery, convenience and liquor stores so being outside Galveston proper was not an issue. A tip for those shopping: DO NOT go to grocery shopping on Friday evening. We went after dinner and the shelves were bare. Do yourself a favor and go as early as possible!
We arrived at the property ahead of the 4 pm check-in time but had contacted the owner to inquire about an early check-in. He said if there was no car out front we could check-in since that would indicate housekeeping was done from the previous guest. There was no car in the drive and we were eager to get in after a 3-hour car ride. To our surprise, the house was not cleaned. We called the owner and let him know, and then headed to the beach. By the time we were ready to come in the house had been cleaned. We had a couple of other very small hiccups with housekeeping, but the owner resolved everything in a timely manner.
The house is quite nice and met all of our needs. The kitchen is well equiped (minus a pair of kitchen tongs). We brought a twin air mattress and had no issues finding a place where it could stay set up and out of the way. We found the house very comfortable and would recommend the property to anyone. We plan to return next year! The neighborhood is very quiet and we felt quite safe. The owner was a phone call away and quick to resolve our issues. We found nothing major wrong with the house, just a few minor issues with housekeeping. He resolved them immediately to our satisfaction.
The only complaints are: 1) the clothes line is above the grill. Neither can be moved, so if you come back from the beach and want to hang your towels and suits out to dry and grill at the same time it is a problem. 2) the air conditioner doesn't cool well at all. I understand that the owner has it set so that people can't run the bill sky high, but it really doesn't cool the house off at all. It feels more like the fan is running vs the actual a/c. The temp doesn't feel like the setting. We had the thermostat set as low as it would go for the two days we were there, but it never got to the temperature setting (maybe 70? I can't recall the setting). It wasn't unbearable for me since I set my house to 78 in the summer, but it was a bit on the muggy side. Maybe it's just a coolant issue.

If your stay is more than a week out from your booking date, check-in AND check-out must ALWAYS fall on one of four days: Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. Additionally, a Monday check-in is only allowed if the preceding Sunday is already booked or is part of a holiday weekend. Likewise, a Thursday check-out is only permissible if the following Friday is already booked or is part of a holiday weekend.
If you are looking to book within a week of your proposed stay, I will consider alternative check-in/out days, but a Saturday check-in or check-out is never allowed.
If you prefer to post a $500 security deposit in lieu of purchasing damage protection insurance, let me know. In that scenario, I will require the greater of $500 or 50% of the booking fee at the time of booking. The balance would be due two weeks prior to checking in. Deposits are held no more than seven (7) days from the date of check-out.
