Ideal for Fall Weekends and small reunions! Beautiful, spacious, 5 bedroom, in-town home with two working fireplaces, front porch and screened porch for lounging, and a roomy hot tub under the stars...

Less than 10 minutes walk to the movies, the theatre, the best restaurants in the area...

This 5 bedroom/2.5 bath home is located on the hill, just 3 blocks from downtown Great Barrington. There is an abundance of space starting with a large, comfortable seating area on the side of the front porch in warmer weather (wi-fi and an outlet for your electronic needs) with oversized cushions, large coffee/cocktail table, beautiful area rug, palms and breezy outdoor all the way through the house to a screened in porch with more comfortable furnishings; the perfect hang out space for reading, napping, dining or chatting. Continuing out the back door you will find a bluestone patio with outdoor dining, next to gardens with a bubbling fountain and a large hot tub spa. There is a third porch off the kitchen (the door most often used) to sit and sip coffee, read the paper and watch the birds. All of these outdoor spaces have wi-fi and are surrounded by lush gardens, a large lawn and privacy.

The kitchen renovation just completed boasts white cabinets with cherry island, granite countertops throughout, large Kohler sink and extra island prep sink, a Garland professional range, Subzero refrigerator, beautiful mexican tile floors, lots of storage and fully equipped with quality cook ware for the chef in the family.

There is a very large eat-in kitchen with dining table, large bay windows, and cushioned seating.

The media/family room features a large flat screen, dvd and cd players, bose sound system and plenty of seating.

The first floor also includes the dining room with large sideboard and two pairs of french doors leading to the eat-in kitchen and the living room, and the cozy living room with its library wall and 122 year old family desk.

Each of the bedrooms has been recently painted, wood floors refinished, newly appointed furnishings and all new, high thread count linens. Each of the bathrooms is shared by two bedrooms, one with separate shower and claw-foot tub, the master with gorgeous marble subway tiled shower, frameless glass walls and custom double vanity with marble countertop.

Our home was recently outfitted with high velocity central air---such a luxury in a historic home and given the recent summers, a 'must' in our area.

No detail or expense has been spared in preparing our home for your enjoyment.

About Annie

We moved to The Berkshires from Manhattan on our oldest son's 1st birthday. That was in 1990. Since then, we've had two more boys, Sam and Skylar, and raised them all in this wonderful home.

I have been in the vacation rental business since 1995 with properties on Nantucket and in northern Michigan and so it was only a matter of time before Craig and I became empty nesters and rented out our primary residence.

Annie purchased this house in 1990

Why Annie chose Berkshires

In addition to managing our properties, we are now building homes in northern Michigan near our hometown of Traverse City.

My passion is home design (and cooking, entertaining and travel) and my husband is a Landscape Architect. Once our 3 sons were out of the house we cleaned out, insulated, re-painted, refinished, updated, renovated, added central air and re-furnished, totaling a $150,000 investment.

I have tried to think of everything you could want in a vacation home. If there is anything I have forgotten, just let me know and I will get it...I have to draw the line at personal chefs and nannies, though you are more than welcome to bring your own.

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location!

This home is located in a quiet (most desired) neighborhood, one house away from a town park, and a short three blocks to our downtown. It is also very close to both local ski areas.

Our home has lots of space inside and out, a huge kitchen which can handle lots of cooks, multiple, wonderful porches for coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening, and the most comfortable beds and linens you will ever sleep in.

Hometown Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Annie was a perfect hostess both before and during our visit to 48 South Street. I feel like I made a friend even though we never met. We arrived on the tail of a snowstorm to a plowed driveway and a neighbor shoveling the path to the hot tub which we were very eager to enjoy having been delayed 24 hours due to the weather. Since we missed our first night, Annie offered us an additional night on the back end, which was a blessing since our return flight got cancelled as well. So what could have been a very stressful weekend was as relaxing as we had hoped for. The house is beautifully decorated with the character of an old home but modern conveniences as well. It sits quietly on a hill but is still walking distance to the main street where we enjoyed breakfast at the Patisserie and lunch at The Well. The owners of these establishments were also hometown friendly. Annie also suggested Canterbury Farms for snow shoeing and cross country skiing which was a great find, especially if you want to avoid the big tourist ski areas. I highly recommend Annie and her home in Great Barrington if you are looking for a true New England hometown experience.

Still talking about your wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

We had such an amazing experience at this house. A week later we're still talking with our friends who were with us about how comfortable, clean, and cozy your home was. We were 2 families with kids and it was just enough space to spread out and sleep comfortably, yet gather around the table all together for meals. We enjoyed the den with fireplace and couches to talk in a relaxing environment after the kids went to bed.The house is so close to town and Butternut that we were able to go back and forth to restaurants, skiing, and tubing with ease. We will definitely stay here again as our kids get older and return to the slopes. We were granted a late check out since nobody was checking in after us and it made our trip even more enjoyable. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts!

The house is picture perfect with all the comforts of home. Annie was there if you needed her otherwise her presence was absent, expect for the wonderful vibe that is clearly manifest in this beautiful, tasteful, wonderful house. Home away from home sweet home.

lovely!

  • 5 of 5

The house and gardens are inviting and comfortable, though the five of us spent almost all our time either in the spacious and sunlit kitchen or on the front porch. Good beds, convenient location, quiet street, and no complaints. Highly recommended.
