Nestled on a hillside of Presque Isle Lake's east shore, this custom, open concept home has just what you need to enjoy all four seasons. This home was previously listed on Northwoods Home Rentals. Oversized bedrooms and multiple living areas allow for plenty of room to relax. The home has a western exposure for you to enjoy the best sunsets Presque Isle has to offer. Placed perfectly on it's lakefront lot, the home is quite private yet located only minutes from the town of Presque Isle. A public boat landing and park with a small beach/swimming area are a short walk away down quiet Bay View road where the property is located.
Landscaped stairs bring you down to an ample shoreline for swimming with a clean bottom of rocks and sand. The Presque Isle chain of lakes offers great fishing, water sports, and wildlife viewing. The main snowmobile hwy., trail #6, is just a half-mile away and with a big garage to park your sleds for the night, this makes the Sunset Lake House a great choice for your winter or summer vacation.
Although in our summer season we only rent for 7 days or more, we may be willing to entertain shorter stays if we find that our schedule is open later in the summer. Keep us in mind!
Kathleen resides in Presque Isle, while her three sons and granddaughter come and go depending on their schedules. The pristine air, water, and natural environment is what attracted us to move to this area in 1995, not to mention the friendly and caring people! Presque Isle Lake, to us is one of the best that you will find in the northwoods for it's versatility and great neighbors.
Kathleen and Jonathan Eugster purchased this chateau / country house in 2005
This unique western facing property is perched above the gorgeous waters of Presque Isle Lake, allowing for unforgettable sunsets. The wooded setting and privacy make this a place to make your own for the precious time that you spend there. The lake is a world renowned musky/walleye lake and offers perch, bass and pan fish also. Presque Isle Lake is part of a three lake chain and is 1280 acres, clear and 80' deep. Your shoreline is a gentle sandy and rocky bottom and access to your own or rented fishing/pleasure boats on the dock. There is a paddle boat and a one person Aquaterra kayak for your pleasure included.
The biggest benefit to your vacation home are the views of the lake through the trees from nearly every room in the house. It is spacious and has two LED TVs with satellite, a light filled kitchen, a deck with space for grilling and dining or just taking in a sunset or morning coffee. The master suite is separate and private with its own shower/tub. There is a woodburning fireplace for cozy nights by the fire and a firepit for outdoor gathering/story telling. In the winter months, you are on #6 snowmobile trail and the double+ attached garage is a great convenience.
We stayed in Kathleen's home the first week in August 2016. The house is very large and was perfect for our 2 families to share (4 adults and 7 kids total). The separate upstairs and downstairs living areas were great when the kids wanted to go and watch their own TV shows. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and the grill worked well also. Bedrooms and closets are huge. Our boys all stayed in the room with 3 twin beds the first few nights, then began to fan out to couches and futons throughout the house the remaining days - i.e. there are LOTS of sleeping options in this house. Be advised, the house has no air conditioning. There were a couple of nights that we had trouble sleeping because it was so warm and muggy. The lake is absolutely beautiful -- clear pristine water. We had so-so luck with fishing (August is not the best time of the year to be fishing) but did catch a few big smallmouth bass (5.5 lbs and 7 lbs) right off the dock. We were really surprised how quiet the lake was. There were several days where we were the only people out on the water which was awesome from a peace and quiet perspective. One other observation of note: the are several steps down to the lake -- its not a tough climb but its not an easy stroll either. Those with mobility issues may have some trouble. Activity wise, the lake is perfect for swimming. Additionally, we went mountain biking the last day of our stay at the nearby WinMan trail complex which was a blast. If you like to mountain bike, the trail system there is really well laid out -- lots of obstacles to tackle and many of the curves are really well bermed/constructed. Had i known it was going to be that much fun, I would have planned to go 3 or 4 days. Dining out options are limited but we really enjoyed pizza and wings at the nearly PI Pub.
All in all - we had a great time. Kathleen is very accommodating and attentive to anything you might need. If you're looking for a lot of action and activities, Presque Isle is probably not the best place to go (try Minocqua....[or Gatlinburg or Branson]). If you're looking for a very quiet peaceful setting, this is a great place to recharge.
Having been in Presque Isle often in my life, I can tell you this is a fantastic opportunity. Spacious doesn't begin to describe the house, and the amenities are outstanding. Totally modern home with all the finishing touches. Of course, being on one of the best and most pristine fishing/water sport lakes in the North Woods only adds to the experience. Great access to lake, and fantastic views, especially at dusk. Not sure, but our dog may have had as much fun as we did, so really appreciate the pet policy. Owner is thoughtful, helpful, and interested in making sure you have a great stay. Obviously we will be looking to return again. Thanks.
We've been vacationing in the North Woods of Wisconsin for many years now at various cabins & homes. Never before have we found one so beautiful and spacious!!! The owners are very accommodating, even allowing pets!!! We would DEFINITELY stay here again!!!!
Owner was very fast to supply and or correct if we just called and ask. The home is meant for large groups and very well laid out. The master br. was fantastic. The lake is made for tubing and skiing and is the clearest that any have ever seen. It is amazing that they excepted pets as we had 2 small dogs. Again, the bedrooms were all large but one downstairs did not have a rod in the closet to hang clothes. All in all we had a terrific time at a VERY nice home in an area that's A+.
Not often do you find a home, suitable for large groups, that is this beautiful!! To top it off, they allow pets!!
Owners were very accommodating to our 14 person group. The home had more than enough room for us to sprawl out. The bedrooms are all quite large. The views from this house are amazing as well!
Beautiful home and spectacular views from every window in the house. We loved sitting in the Great room with the fire on, a cup of coffee, and looking out over the trees to the glistening lake below. Great for couples or large families. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate us.
Presque Isle is a very special place where you can walk in any direction at all and find a lake. The name literally means 'almost an island'. In any season you can have blast in our spacious and beautiful home that sits on a hill overlooking Presque Isle lake.
For snowmobilers, the house is on a street that connects to the a huge network of trails, through trail #6.
Our family owns many acres of hunting land, most of which is in a managed forest program with the DNR which makes it a perfect destination for licensed hunters, mountain bikes, xcountry ski trail blazers, hikers and explorers,
