This is our childhood home - we would love to share it with you! It's a special place - and a beautiful spot to spend time. We live in New England and don't get to use it as much. But we hope you will spend some time here...and grow to love it as much as we do.

Beautiful spacious waterfront property
We had 8 of us staying at Timbertide. It was beautiful, comfortable and the hosts are responsive. Could not have been better.
Great choice for a family winter holiday
We chose this beautiful, spacious Craftsman waterfront house, with hardwood floors, coved ceilings, a nicely updated kitchen to host a week of holiday gatherings for a revolving, multi-generational group of relatives, most living nearby. Several spent a just night or came for a meal. Two of us came from Hawaii, one from New York; the rest had a short drive. For our biggest meal, there were 10. We averaged 5-6 residents/night--all adults, one toddler.
For groups with a wide variety of ages, some rentals work better than others. This was the perfect choice for our somewhat quirky plans. It also required little childproofing. We didn't have to pull items from every drawer or shelf to keep them and our tiny explorer safe. However, visitors will need to keep the door closed to the stairs (carpeted, but steep).
The living room is large with good windows and the dining table comes with leaves and chairs that make it easy to accommodate a large group.
The house was very clean and well furnished with extra bedding and towels. The house is situated on a private lot with stairs down to a typical rocky PNW beach. Despite the weather, we enjoyed exploring the beach and the youngest member of our party happily lugged rocks at least two feet from the beach into the water.
For a large group, adequate parking is a must. A long, winding driveway from the street leads to a generous parking area with room for at least 4 vehicles to park and turn around.
Most visitors are likely to come in summer, but early fall would also be a good time to visit. The neighborhood is quiet. The house itself isn't noisy. Wifi is excellent and the big screen TV got a decent assortment of channels.
The refrigerator is generously sized. There is an ice maker in the fridge, but it helps to supplement with ice cube trays. The stove was in good shape. Basic items like tea, coffee, condiments were provided. There was a shortage of bowls and coffee cups. Otherwise, there were plenty of good dishes and utensils, plus a range of kitchen tools. There's an ancient, but clean, fine working Kitchen Aid standalone mixer and a blender. The washer and dryer were big enough to manage big loads.
The only negative--but it could be significant if not addressed--is that the mattresses are due for replacement, sagging in the middle.
Nearby are big names in dining and retailing. Local dining options include a Peruvian bistro in a shopping mall and several good seafood and steak houses.
Our 4 day stay was fabulous. Accommodations comfortable and a beautiful view.
We had the thrilling experience of watching a bald eagle leave a floating pad in the water and fly right toward the big window we were all standing in front of. Watching it in flight flying straight toward us was truly magnificent. We had a wonderful time!

We had a great time in this lovely home
Great family vacation stay
We joined with 2 of our children and family (8 of us) for a 5 night stay at the childhood home of the owner. The views out the windows were as wonderful as the weather. The 2 year old and 9 year old spent lots of time gathering and throwing rocks back into the water, collecting shells and venturing into the berry patch to find delicious end of the season blueberries. The kitchen was well appointed with a huge refrigerator, the gas grill had a fresh propane tank at the ready and there was plenty of extra pillows and blankets for the comfortable beds. The kids had a huge play area off the kitchen while we cooked and looked out over the water from the upholstered window seats. Off site, we loved the amazing Sehmel Homestead park, just 5 minutes away for the over-the-top play structures. We went there to view the solar eclipse so kids could play while we waited. This is a must do if you have children, want to play tennis or pickleball, or watch soccer or baseball teams. We also went to Point Defiance Zoo which one of our Seattle kids said is better than the Woodland Park Zoo. The animals were upfront and so easy to track. My husband and I had a lovely dinner at Anthony's overlooking the harbor and Mt Ranier the night before our family arrived.
The only downsides we felt were trying to coordinate our meals and toddler nap time with the tide schedule. We did not realize how far out the tide went (football field length?) and not being able to walk out in the muck. Obviously these is nothing that can be done about this and we did manage to get in some float tubing. Also we would have appreciated increased quantity and updated seating for casual indoor conversation. But these are minor inconveniences compared to the great memories we made at your waterfront home. Thanks, Charlie.
Photos do not do it justice!
It was a lot nicer than the photos showed. There were 7 of us: grandparents, three sisters, two grandkids. Plenty of room to spread out: great kitchen to all work getting meals together. One thing we didn't understand is that there are two floors: the bottom floor has the twin beds and full bed with one full bathroom. A bit musty.
We really lucked out with great weather. Bought oysters at Minterbrook Oyster Farm and had fun barbequing them and eating them raw. Secluded and quiet. Gig Harbor is a short drive away. Definitely walk McCornick Forest tralis...packed a picnic for lunch. Ate at Il Lucano's one night......delicious. Definitely would stay there again.
